NEMO Equipment – Helio Pressure Shower

The Helio Pressure Shower from NEMO Equipment is great for deployed or back country clean up, whether it’s just you that needs a shower or you are cleaning equipment.

Notice that you don’t have to hang this one upside down to get it to work. Instead, it uses a foot pump to build up pressure.

It comes complete with an 11 liter tank that warms the water in the sun, a hose with spray nozzle, pump, and carrying case. I really like the spray nozzle. It’s just like the one we had in our kitchen sink when I was growing up and it’s very easy to use. I got my hands on a prototype last Summer during Outdoor Retailer and I was duly impressed with the amount of pressure you can build up seeing how it’s powered via a foot pump.

Camelbak to Launch Mil Spec Antidote at Warrior Expo East

Camelbak is officially launching the Mil Spec Antidote reservoir at this week’s Warrior Expo East. The Antidote is the reservoir used in the new USMC Pack. At the show it will be displayed with the ThermoBak AB and Ambush and also offered as a stand-alone accessory system.

Blade Show – Advanced Outfitters

The TERD Kit from Advanced Outfitters is an idea whose time has come. It contains all of your critical doody making materials. Seriously. Have you ever needed to make number two on the trail or in the field and realized the essentials are spread out amongst your kit?

Apparently, this happened to Advanced Outfitters owner Kevin Martin enough times that he decided to do something about it. He really is an old outdoor hand and came up with the Tactical, Everything Required for Dumping Kit. TERD, get it? It consists of a Ti cathole digger, 2 zippered pouches, 1 for TP the other for baby wipes / lady essentials. The fry pan uses Jetboil’s FluxRing technology which provides even heating. There is also a plastic base cover that doubles use for food prep or as a plate for eating.

Blast From The Past – Esbit

I don’t know how I would have made it through my tour in Germany without my trusty Esbit Cooker. Issued as part of the German Ration Pack (EPA), Esbit fuel was readily available all over Germany. The tablets burn for between 7 and 12 minutes depending on the size and should boil half a liter in about 7 minutes. What I really liked about them was lack of smell or smoke.

The cooker itself is a simple design. Its stamped galvanized steel with riveted folding legs that once folded flat, carried its own solid fuel bars. They come in three sizes: small, medium, and large. The legs are adjustable by detents stamped into the legs. The larger the cooker, the more settings. For example, the small cooker’s legs can be set at 90 degrees, 45 degrees, or closed. You can see in the picture the indentations in the legs for the settings. I tossed mine years ago but the only place it ever showed the slightest sign of rust was at the rivets. I never thought I would be able to find another one, until now.

And now they have mugs!
