Warrior West 21 – Crisis Response Leader Training

Thursday, July 8th, 2021

Warrior West 21 showcased quite a bit of training and supination technologies. One of the standouts was Crisis Response Leader Training.

This Indiana company provides computer-based simulation training to develop Emergency and Crisis Response Leaders.

Their customizable training tool called, “The Incident” looks like, and responds like, a third-person, turn-based video game. The characters not controlled by participants are autonomous, and they are programmed to act based on real-world case studies. The simulation can be run as a stand-alone training platform, or various organizations and agencies can participate in the same training scenario remotely (similar to a video game’s multiplayer feature). The training is run all slower than real time in order for trainees to consider consequences.

Scenarios include active shooters, workplace violence, barricaded suspects, chemical and biological containment, major fires, and natural disasters.

Crisis Response Leader Training technologies are available for unit and agency orders from ADS, Inc.

Recently, we mentioned Mechanix Wear’s new suppressor safety products. Now, they’re available as a kit containing an X-Pad, Suppressor Cover, and Transport Bag which are all made from CarbonX heat-resistant fabric and Kevlar thread.

Please note, there’s a nylon tag in the Suppressor Cover which you need to remove before you use it in conjunction with a suppressor. It’s nylon, which will melt to your suppressor.

Warrior West 21 – AUFire Training System

Thursday, July 8th, 2021

The Accuracy Under Fire Training System from Dynamis Alliance uses Simulated Injury Technology.

At the push of a button, the trainer can unleash an electrical current directly into targeted muscle groups on the trainee via a remote control. The conductive stimulation temporarily impairs a specific body part and simulates a disabling injury. The AUFire System allows you to select among 7 points of simulated injury within the arms and abdomen.

Dynamis Alliance products are available for unit and agency orders from ADS, Inc.

Warrior West 21 – Soliyarn Smart Clothing

Wednesday, July 7th, 2021

Every trade show I attend I have a favorite product or company and my pick for Warrior West 21 is Soliyarn.

This Massachusetts-based tech company was founded on research conducted at UMass Amherst. In a nutshell, they take raw goods and using a vapor technology seamlessly coat a durable, thin film on to textiles. So far they’ve developed conductive, waterproof and anti-microbial coatings.

The conductive tech has been used to heat fabric. The technology works. I put a glove on and the back of my hand immediately began to warm up.

Because there are no cables running through the garment, there’s no need to worry about a cable being cut and losing power. Essentially, the fabric serves as a self-healing circuit. As long as there are fibers still connected, there is a degree of power running through the circuit.

They are currently working with Natick on prototypes of a heated HAHO glove. One of the prototypes seen here is from FirstSpear.

They can also treat the material to be water and oil resistant using a PFC free coating. I watched a demonstration of water being poured on this sample of cotton muslin and the water beaded right off. Not only is the fabric going to remain dry, it’s going to retain it’s comfort and air permeability.

I asked a whole lot of questions like whether or not this will also serve as a data bus. Since this technology is so new, they continue to refine what it can and can’t do. This is a story I definitely plan to follow up on.

Cold Avenger specializes in the manufacture of cold weather masks and base layers.

Their most popular product is the Ventilator which integrates a soft rubber chamber over the nose and mouth to protect the respiratory system from cold air. Warm, humid air is exhaled into the chamber to help pre-warm inhaled air as it mixes in the chamber upon inhalation.

Above is their FR Hard Hat Liner which will integrate with half face respirators. Made from two layers of Polartec Wind Pro FR, it protects from cold, wind and flame.
