USASOC Sniper Comp – Mohawk Can Covers

March 26th, 2016

Veteran owned Mohawk Can Covers are lined with a double layer of heat resistant material and are designed to mitigate the mirage effect caused by a hot can.

They offer three sizes of suppressor covers for issue cans. There’s one for the .338 Titan as well as cover’s for the SureFire 5.56 and .30 suppressors.

An interesting feature is the seam which runs along the bottom of the can which they say helps with manipulating the cover when it’s hot. Additionally, they’ve incorprated a bungee to tie it off to the weapon.

USASOC Sniper Comp – American Kami

March 25th, 2016

American Kami always uses Sniper Comp to debut new models. This year it’s the dagger designs we recently showed you pictures of.

This is a graphic from American Kami which gives you the names of the various daggers. I know the trench knives are becoming very popular.

DJ had to burn the candle at both ends to get these ready for Bragg.  Commercial versions will have a DLC coating over the CPM S35VN.

USASOC Sniper Comp – B&T Industries

March 25th, 2016

B&T Industries makes a variety of weapon accessories such as the Atlas bipod. One of their newest items is the Silo which is a Picatinny compatible pad that can be quickly mounted, adjusted and dimounted from a rail thanks to their Flushcup Stud.  It works as a pin across the rail and the Silo slides easily into position.

Inspired by shooters strapping bean bags into their rifles for stability, the Silo can be placed where needed on the rail to give you a stable platform on rough terrain or against a barricade.  Additionally, each side has a rubber section so it won’t move if held up against the side of a window or other fixture.

USASOC Sniper Comp – US Tactical Supply

March 25th, 2016

US Tactical Supply is way out front in looking for and stocking specialized items for military, police and civilian precision shooting. They had an very interesting item on their table of specialty equipment.

This is the Bradley cheek rest, made from Kydex. There’s really not a lot of explanation needed. It’s adjustable for comb and attaches to the stock via Velcro. Bradley offers models for multiple firearms in a wide variety of colors and patterns.

USASOC Sniper Comp – Wilcox Industries

March 25th, 2016

Every time I sit down with Wilcox Industries they have something new. This company is constantly innovating. This time, it’s the G24R mount and low-pro shroud. The R suffix is for ‘rail’ and as you can see, it’s set up to accept both ground and aviation goggle interfaces.

It incorprates all of the features you’d expect from a Wilcox mount:
Breakaway Release Lever
Tilt Adjustment
Lock Release Lever for Height of NVG
Fore/Aft Release Lever for proximity to eyes
NVG Release Lever
Flip Release
Wilcox Dovetail Shoe
Available in Black or Tan

Another thing I really like about this shroud is how close it fits to the helmet.

The part number for the G24R Mount and low-profile shroud with lanyard is 61300G19.

USASOC Sniper Comp – Winkler Knives

March 25th, 2016

It’s always a pleasure to speak with Daniel Winkler. This ABS Master Bladesmith’s designs are used by some of America and her allies’ most elite forces. Daniel told me they had been installing a new water jet cutter at their facility in Boone, North Carolina so he hadn’t created any new blades since SHOT show. However, he did want to remind me that they are making training versions of all of their knives which are fashioned from nonmarking plastic.

USASOC Sniper Comp – Misty Mountain Threadworks

March 25th, 2016

Yesterday, I got a quick in and out to Fort Bragg to visit the USASOC Sniper Comp. One of the companies I visited with is an old favorite, Misty Mountain Threadworks. He’s always got something interesting going on and this year is no different. This is the Bud Bucket. It’s a large chalk bag meant for bouldering where multiple people will share the same bag. With Misty Mountain, you can customize many of their products like this one which features MultiCam and Brown panels. It gives you a good idea of what they are capable of.

The Bud Bucket features a large fleece lined compartment with a drawstring closure, rear stretch pockets for brushes, tape, and accessories, and a zippered pocket at the front for car keys, etc.
