Clear-Com Brings Cutting-Edge Digital Intercom Technology to SOFIC 2016

May 11th, 2016

ALAMEDA, USA – MAY 02, 2016 — At this year’s Special Operations Forces Industry Conference (SOFIC), Clear-Com®, the global leader in real-time communication and connectivity solutions, will showcase the new DX410 wireless intercom system, the Gateway radio interoperability solution, and the LQ-R four/eight-port IP interface devices.
Reliable intercom and connectivity solutions are an essential component in meeting the needs for tight collaboration, coordination, communication and safety within military, aerospace, and government operations. Whether on wireless or wired systems, over 4-wire circuits or IP networks, Clear-Com’s extensive range of communications systems has the flexibility and scalability to meet complex configurations and is future-proofed to address unforeseen challenges.

The DX410 is a license-free, two-channel 2.4GHz digital wireless intercom. The full-duplex system can be deployed rapidly and is easy to operate; it enables mobile personnel to move freely and is rugged and reliable, making it idea for military, aerospace, and government applications. DX410 features 7 kHz wideband audio for the clearest communication, enhancing safety and situational awareness. Its 2.4GHz Frequency-Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) 64-bit encryption ensures secure, confidential communication. Also, the system’s upgraded radio technology allows better transmission/reception, two-wire/four-wire bridging, and two-wire auto-nulling. Each base station supports up to 15 BP410 wireless beltpacks and/or WH410 all-in-one wireless headsets.

Also on display is the Gateway radio interoperability solution, ideal for immediate on-site communication across different radio frequencies. It combines advanced radio interface technology for analog and digital radios with a suite of programmable features. Gateway does this by bridging radio channels across different radio platforms – be it port-to-port, port-to-multi-port or Radio-over-IP (RoIP) – which enables cross-communication between different frequencies.
Clear-Com’s LQ-R four or eight-port IP interface devices, which come in a 1RU form factor, are the latest additions to the LQ Series family. These devices can simply and cost-effectively extend or link any industry-standard 2-wire or 4-wire intercom and audio systems over LAN, WAN or IP networks. The new LQ-R devices can provide either four or eight ports per rack unit, while the compact LQ throw-down devices offer two ports of connectivity. All have the option of either eight 4-wire connections, four 2-wire connections, or four 2-wire and four 4-wire connections in a single unit. The 2-wire option is both Clear-Com and RTS TW compatible.

“Clear-Com’s range of high quality, full-duplex intercom and connectivity systems enable users to stay in constant communication,” said Scott Shepard, Sales Engineer for the Military, Aerospace, and Government division at Clear-Com. “Allowing voice exchanges to occur in real time effectively and efficiently across different communications systems and geographies, enhances safety and security in diverse environments. It also facilitates reliable voice communications between a number of people in order to achieve desired results and collaborate without limits, which fits right in with the focus of this year’s show.”

This year’s conference theme is “Evolving the Network to Counter Emerging Threats”. The event will be held on May 23-26, 2016 at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa Bay, FL. Clear-Com will showcase its intercom solutions in Booth #219.

SixKa Brand By 707 Tactical Gear Now Featuring PenCott Camo Clothing And Boots

May 11th, 2016

Although fabrics in the PenCott family of advanced camouflage patterns have been printed in the USA since July 2011, finished products in the patterns have been harder to obtain in the Americas than they have in Europe – especially garments.

SixKa

That situation has begun to noticeably improve this year, and there is also now a US-based company making a wide range of tactical clothing and boots in PenCott camouflage patterns. That company is 707 Tactical Gear out of Miami, Florida with their SixKa brand of tactical garments and gear. 707 Tactical Gear designs products specifically to their clients requests and cuts-and-sews them from U.S.-made milspec materials in their wholly owned factories in Mexico.

Sneak Peek – MOHOC K9 Head Harness

    May 11th, 2016

By now, I’m sure you’re familair with the MOHOC camera so I’m not going to spend a lot of time going over its capabilities. I’d rather show you this new K9 head harness. Instead of mounting the camera on the dog’s back, this version puts it on top of the K9’s head for a true POV perspective.

The MOHOC K9 harness matches the curvature of your dog’s head and maintains a snag free, low profile. This snag free design allows your dog to move in confined spaces without being impeded by a large pole or camera arm on their back. The K9 harness is adjustable both around the collar and in front of the ears, allowing you to securely attached the harness and camera to your working dog.

The K9 Head Harness will be offered in Black or Tan.

SOFIC 2016 – Yes, There Will Be Quaffing

    May 11th, 2016

What’s Gelände Quaffing you might ask? Well, it’s the awesomest beer drinking competition ever and finds its roots in the downhill ski community.

In 1986, the skis were skinny and the snow was fat, during a 14 foot storm, the infamous underground crew of the Jackson Hole Air Force was going stir crazy in the Bear Claw Café, waiting for the mountain to open. In those days the bartender would send a freshly filled beer mug sliding down the bar to the patron who ordered it. One fateful night a beer mug slid off the end of the bar, took air, was caught seconds before a glass shattering catastrophe, and promptly pounded. Gelände Quaffing was born. Apres’ ski competitions followed, testing the unique skills of all who entered, and provided exciting entertainment for all spectators. But somewhere along the way Gelände Quaffing was lost and the après ski spirit forgotten.

It’s quite a sight. Teams often costumed run from one end of the bar to the other and by the end of the night, they are feeling no pain. As in years past, this grudge match is also a fundraiser. Along with a silent auction, they raise some great coin for the All In, All The Time Foundation.

    Joe Carley Joins Team Vortex

    May 11th, 2016

Vortex Optics of Middelton, Wisconsin is proud to announce the addition of Joe Caley to their small and select cadre of sponsored shooters.

Joe served in the US Army from 1990 to 2011 as an enlisted Infantryman, Cavalry Scout and Infantry Officer. Joe was severely wounded in Iraq in 2009. As a result he spent two years in hospitals for his second TBI, several surgeries for his legs, feet, a spinal injury and vestibular paresis. With the help of his doctors and therapists they were able to train and calibrate a Bioness System that allows him to climb obstacles, hills and walk and traverse mountain trails.

A year ago, Joe was approached by a friend at AMU asked him to shoot a PRS match. Joe jumped at the chance and hasn’t looked back. At time of writing he is 19th in Tactical Division, placed 9th at Mammoth Sniper Challenge and was invited to shoot in the exclusive Allegheny Sniper Challenge in Seneca Rocks, WV. Joe plans to move to the open division in 2017.

“Competing in PRS and tactical matches is challenging for most able bodied competitors, I often get told by other Shooters that they don’t know how I do it, and though they are beat up and tired they can’t possibly go and complain about it. A lot of times I show them the burn marks on my skin that the devices give me from putting electrical impulses through my legs. I don’t complain, I wear the scars with pride because I’m out there competing and not sitting around feeling sorry for myself. I enjoy meeting the many competitors and learning new things from all the top shooters. Most rewarding to me is when someone comes up and tells me they had no idea I had those injuries because I wear long pants to cover my equipment. This makes me feel great because I’m not looking for attention. I am just looking for a new normal.

Along the way I’ve had some great help with PRS and shooting, Vortex Optics being one that always got me some great optics to use, but now as of April I was notified that I am now one of the only sponsored match shooters of Vortex Optics. I know this is a huge honor because this family of shooters is very small and they are world and national champions. I feel fortunate to have the backing of Vortex and their entire staff”
