S.O.Tech – Cobra SIS Armor Carrier

August 8th, 2014

COBRA SIS VEST

The Cobra SIS Armor Carrier was developed in collaboration with members of the LAPD’s Special Investigation Section, hence the SIS moniker. Made from 1000D Cordura nylon, the SIS Armor Carrier is designed as a low-profile carrier for both soft armor and plates. A built-in weapon sling allows the user to secure their long gun, while an adjustable cummerbund and non-skid upper chest keeps the vest from shifting and the weapon secure while firing. The SIS Armor Carrier can be ordered as just the vest, or with the full complement of SIS kit parts, which can also be ordered separately for full customization based on end-user needs:

– Double pistol magazine pouch
– Eye protection hard case
– 40mm and flashbang grenade pouch
– Pistol holster
– M4 magazine shingle pouch
– Handcuff pouch
– Rapid response bandoleer
– Flat IFAK
– X26, X26P, and X2 Taser holsters

Made in the USA with American materials.

OR Summer Market – Self Reliance Outfitters

August 8th, 2014

Self Reliance Outfitters is the retail arm of Pathfinder School LLC. Dave Canterbury is the principle of Pathfinder School. You may recognize his name from the show “Dual Survival”.

IMG_6294.JPG

Dave has written a new book called “Bushcraft 101” which ships the second week in September. I asked Dave about the book and he said he wanted to focus on bushcraft and the outdoor living skills that keep you alive. His is a no nonsense approach that focuses less on gadgets and more on skills. The book covers the 10 Cs with special emphasis on the 5 Cs of Cutting Tool, Combustion Device, Container, Cover and Cordage. If you’re not familiar with these items and how they relate to survival this is a great book for you.

Dave Canterbury can also be seen on the new Hunt Channel show “Pathfinder Outdoor Journal” which is a historical look at how outdoorsman have lived and what they carried over the centuries. You can see past episodes at huntchannel.tv.

Beyond Clothing – L7 Linebacker Jacket

August 8th, 2014

Linebacker Jacket-2

Brand new for 2014, Beyond Clothing’s S7 Linebacker Jacket is a generously oversized outerlayer which provides a quick, shedable layer to stay warm in cold, static environments. Designed for wearing over kit, the Linebacker can quickly be removed and stowed into a pack. I tried one on at Outdoor Retailer and I’m impressed. I’ve used/checked out these types of coats going back to the days of using diving deck jackets for the same purpose. This one is well thought out and the reinforced rear hem is awesome. Nonskid eats many of the other jackets for lunch and their backs are often shredded. If you use a Linebacker-style parka for transit in aircraft, boats, vehicles or just hanging around fully kitted up in inclement weather, check this one out.

Linebacker Jacket-4

The Linebacker features a 7″ insulated stand up collar and fixed insulated hood.

Linebacker Jacket-3

A reinforced back panel.

Linebacker Jacket-5

Hook and loop wrist cuffs.

Linebacker Jacket Storage

Ample internal storage and 2 oversized insulated hand pockets.

Linebacker Jacket-7

A partial center front zipper and external wide insulated storm flap with hook and loop closure.

The Linebacker is manufactured from poly-lycra jersey high efficency grid and ripstop nylon. Made in the USA.
