BFG Selected to Provide Two-Point Slings for AF Security Forces ADS Tactical

Tuesday, October 4th, 2011

A variant of the Blue Force Gear Vickers Combat Application Slingâ„¢ (VCAS) has been chosen by USAF Security Forces as their new two-point sling system for the M4 carbine. In a contract award announced yesterday, ADS Inc will provide over 22,000 of the sling kits to various units in the Air Force.

The kit consists of a VCAS, Vest Strap Adapter, an ITW Tac Link, a SOC-Câ„¢ Long Loop Adapter, and Buttstock Storage Pouch. While the contents might seem unconventional to many, it was assembled to fulfill Security Forces’ TTPs. For example, the Vest Strap can be used while wearing armor with the VCAS stowed in the Buttstock Storage Pouch. Conversely, while in a permissive environment where armor is not required, the VCAS is used. Additionally, a spare magazine is easily carried in the Buttstock Storage Pouch while the sling is on the weapon. Remember, for the most part Security Forces are doing just that, manning checkpoints, conducting roving patrols, etc. and may not need the enhanced capability of a two-point sling all of the time. However, they can configure their carbine for use with the two-point for situations where they need it.

The AquaSource 20l is the first accessory designed to fit the USMC’s new pack frame. As you can see, the AquaSource adapts directly to the Down East 1606 frame (and the Army-issue 1600 frame as well) allowing a single Marine to effect a water resupply for his Squad. The AquaSource holds 20l of water in its collapsible bladder which features Source’s Glass-like reservoir technology. There are multiple carrying handles including integral shoulder straps for use in a pinch. Additionally, it adapts directly to Source Hydration’s Vehicle Hydration System.

Disaster Recovery Supplies and Equipment ADS Tactical

Saturday, August 27th, 2011

We were busy prepping the home office for Hurricane Irene and I remembered that ADS had a Disaster Response catalog. Based lessons learned from the Haiti and Japanese earthquake relief, ADS Inc has prepared a catalog to help planners and logistics personnel identify equipment and supplies for this latest crisis. Regardless if you source your equipment from ADS or elsewhere, it is an excellent reference tool.

Combat Ready Clamp ADS

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

Approximately 25% of potentially survivable deaths are due to uncontrolled bleeding at the joints, most of which is attributed to pelvic hemorrhage. The Combat Ready Clamp (CRoC) is a slip-proof expandable aluminum clamp tourniquet that works like a vise to maintain pressure on difficult bleeds when hemorrhage control in tactical environments is not possible with traditional methods and standard tourniquets.

The CRoC already has 510k clearance by the US FDA, and received a recommendation by the Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care (CoTCCC).

The full line of Combat Medical Systems gear is available for agency purchase from ADS.

We’ve mentioned the ADS MRO solutions truck a couple of times. The Fort Bliss Monitor recently published an article on the truck which is apparently quite a hit on post.

They quoted ADS employee Brad Daum who recently retired from the Army as a Patriot fire control enhanced operator/maintainer, “This truck is a mobile tool truck and basically we bring it to the motor pools and provide tools to the Soldiers,” said Daum, driver and tool truck representative for the Maintenance, Repair and Operations for ADS, Inc. “We have warranties and door-to-door service. And if it’s something we don’t have, we’ll go out of our way to get it for you.”

SSG Rosa M. Moncada, supply NCOIC for HHB, 32d Army Air and Missile Defense Command went on to explain, “Ordering certain components [the basic way] can take up to a month.” With the MRO solutions truck, units request a tool, receive it immediately, and pay for it with a GPC. This is the way most civilian maintenance facilities work.
