MATBOCK Monday || The Sheath

img_7045.jpg

The first patented retractable lanyard riggers belt has just been released by MATBOCK.  It incorporates a 4000 lbs Kevlar lanyard with Dyneema stitching at the load point into your normal riggers belt.  The operator can simply pull on the 2 stage carabiner to extend the lanyard and hook into the helicopter or hoist system.  After detaching, the lanyard automatically retracts back into the belt.  Instead of having to stuff the lanyard into a pocket or have a loop near his/her hip as a snag hazard, the operator’s lanyard is tucked away until needed again.  Furthermore, the Kevlar lanyard is spliced at both ends and the Dyneema stitching at the hot point prevents decay from salt water, possibly compromising the safety of the operator during an emergency situation.  This initial version has a fixed length 20-inch lanyard to be at arm’s length for most soldiers.

MATBOCK expects to release an adjustable length lanyard with an emergency release system in the next month to comply with SOCOM requirements.

MATBOCK MONDAY || Backdraft

Monday, February 26th, 2018

85464349-99FB-4FE2-834E-706EE1CF1567

The MATBOCK Backdraft Medical Kit was designed for smaller units with pretty quick access to next level care.  Instead of carrying an entire med bag, the medic or corpsman can now have a more streamlines system.  The Backdraft mounts on the back of the plate carrier via MATBOCK’s Tabs and contains two separate pouches, one for airway and one for bleeding.  The bags are held in place via adjustable amounts of velcro and they have lanyards that secure near the side plates on the carrier.

When one pouch is needed, the operator can simply select the correct lanyard and pull.  From recent combat action in Afghanistan, one medic had the following to say, “It’s an awesome system and perfect for the mission set we’re doing, much more comfortable and streamlined than a traditional aid bag.”  The system is made from MATBOCK’s Ghost and Ghost Lite materials making the bags lightweight and water resistant to protect your medical kit.

MATBOCK Monday || S-LIFT

Monday, February 12th, 2018

The S-LIFT is the next product found in the LIFT System. The S-LIFT was the first product developed in the system and was derived on the battlefields of Iraq. The founders of MATBOCK were tired of carrying around an SSE bag and a soft stretcher, so they created the S-LIFT.

This patented product weighs only 10oz, comes vacuum sealed and fits right in the palm of your hand. When needed, the S-LIFT may be deployed as an SSE bag to assist in collecting evidence. It features a drawstring and shoulder strap, but can quickly be re-configured as a soft stretcher by using the zipper down 2 sides. Since carrying a down operator for any period of time with a soft stretcher is less than ideal, MATBOCK built handles that also accept the combat carbon poles. If you remember the article from last week, these poles are the same ones found on the LIFT Ladder.

Technical Specifications:

• Dimensions:

-As a bag: 29 inches x 24 inches

-Volume of bag: 4,222 cubic inches (69 liters)

-As a stretcher: 78 inches x 29 inches

-Rolled for storage: 9 inches x 4.5 inches x 2 inches

• Weight: 10oz

• Maximum carrying capacity: 400lbs

LIFT Ladder is part of a multi-product system, and over the next few weeks, we will look at all of the various products that are found in this revolutionary system. This short video was taken at the MATBOCK HQ, to show the quick assembly of this ladder and how compact the ladder rungs are when the poles are not attached.

Total Weight: 4.975 Pounds
Weight without poles: 2.375 Pounds
Dimensions folded up (without poles): 3in x 3in x 12in

MATBOCK Monday || ARD Sight

Monday, January 29th, 2018

The MATBOCK ARD (Aquire Read Deploy) is a new 40mm weapon sight designed and manufactured in the USA.  Made from anodized aluminum and mountable on either side or top rails, the sight has a digital LCD screen that outputs the range of 40mm projectiles given the angle of the weapon, the weapon system and the round used.  Currently, the sight is configured for m203, 320, PGL6 weapon platforms as well as multiple rounds to include HE and non-lethal rounds.  More weapons and rounds are to be brought online and each weapon sight can be updated with the new software.  The simplicity of the sight is what makes it so adaptable in a firefight.  Simply estimate the range of the enemy and raise the weapon to achieve that desired distance.  After the first round impact is visualized, the operator can adjust fire to bring him/her on target very quickly.

The images below are a preproduction version and the production model is half the size and weight of those pictured.  The unit runs off of a 123 battery and has 2 buttons to turn the unit on and off, cycle through the menus, and select the line desired.  MATBOCK currently has multiple Gen 1 models available for testing with the Gen 2 models expected to come off the manufacturing line in just 8 weeks.  Please contact admin@matbock.com to request a testing model.

MATBOCK Monday || BLS

Monday, January 15th, 2018

The BLS is a joint project between MATBOCK and MAS Special Ops Training. Its a patent pending Bench, Ladder, Stretcher designed for Wing and Zodiac inflatable boats. The BLS is sold as a pair (bottom and upper sections) and designed to deploy as a unit. For the inflatables, it sits across the side tubes and can be secured to the floor with either ratchet straps or line (not included in the kit) giving space for 4 operators to sit forward facing during transit. When reaching the landing site or ship to be boarded, the sections can be attached together to create a 12 foot ladder with integrated shepherds hooks and offset ladder rungs. Additionally, the ladder rungs are coated on the top surface with nonslip to help prevent falls due to wet surfaces. If there is a casualty, a single section can be used as a stretcher to evacuate the individual as well. Four handles protrude from the sides to aid in transport as well as for positioning the ladder.

Each section is 69″ tall, 17.5″ wide, weighs 20.5lbs and made of aluminum with welded connections throughout the system.

Additionally, the BLS comes with grip feet on the lower section to help prevent the bottom from kicking out while being used as a ladder.

Finally, add-on floatation for each section will be available in the coming weeks.

The unit can be purchased from either MATBOCK or MAS Special Ops Training in the links below.

MATBOCK Monday || 1 – Day Assault Pack

Monday, January 8th, 2018

This is the new 1 Day Assault Pack from MATBOCK.

IMG_5953

Made of the MATBOCK Ghost Lite material, it is extremely lightweight, water resistant with YKK Uretek zippers throughout and offers some great new features. The main pouch is designed to hold a PRC-117G radio with a small admin pouch on the inside as well. On the top of the main pouch are two comms outlets made of medical grade gasket material to make a waterproof seal around even the largest radio antennas and smallest comms cables to prevent water entering the pack during inclement weather. The comms ports can be closed off when not in use. The shoulder yoke system is adjustable vertically to accommodate plates and any other gear possibly mounted on the back. The side pouches are large enough to hold a standard nalgene water bottle with compression straps and bungee closures at the top.

One of the coolest features of the back is the upper pouch. Upon opening, a secondary main pouch is stored that effectively doubles the capacity of the bag with another completely water resistant storage space. This secondary bag folds all the way open and is lined on the inside with loop velcro offering a great storage space for extra med kit, SSE collected on target, or even just an extra puffy layer. The pouch attaches at the bottom of the pack as well to ensure it doesn’t move around when worn.

The pack only weighs 1.9 lbs and is available immediately for $380.00 MSRP.
