Ritter & Stark To Demonstrate SX-1 Modular Tactical Rifle at VFOB Try & Buy Event

Wednesday, December 28th, 2016

The long-range precision SX-1 MTR rifle designed and produces in Austria will be available for media and buyers to try at the VFOB Try & Buy event before SHOT Show 2017.

Feistritz, Austria (December 2016) – Ritter & Stark, an Austrian-based firearms design and manufacturing company, are bringing their SX-1 Modular Tactical Rifle (MTR) to the Veterans Forward Operating Base – Try & Buy event January 15 & 16, 2017 at the Pro Gun Club in Boulder City, Nevada. The event, sponsored by the Veterans Family of Brands, will host 50 members of the VFOB family and 50 additional manufacturers showcasing an array of firearms and firearms gear.

The 2-day event precedes the annual SHOT Show® and will give dealers and media members the opportunity to try some of the latest and hottest weapon platforms on two ranges. Ritter & Starks’ new entry into the long-range precision rifle niche has already received a large amount of attention and press on the international defense market, as well as its US debut at the 2017 AUSA show.

VFOB Try & Buy attendees will be able to shoot the SX-1 MTR and see first-hand how fast one can change calibers between a .308 Win., .300 Win Magnum and a .338 Lapua Magnum. Scopes do not have to be changed out or re-sighted since the SX-1 MTR barrels feature a MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail installed directly on the barrel. Pre-set scopes make conversion barrel change-outs quick and efficient without any loss of zero.

Ritter & Stark barrels are guaranteed to at least leading in industry 5,000 rounds for .308Win and .338LM, and 2,000 rounds for .300WM assuring 100% of accuracy. Ritter & Stark’s SX-1 MTR’s performance is factory proven to be a consistent 0.5 MOA with 3-round groups or better using factory match grade ammunition.

See and try the Ritter & Stark SX-1 MTR at the VFOB Try & Buy. Reservations are required at info@veteransfob.com. Visit Ritter & Stark at the SHOT Show and see the future of rifle systems available now at the NEXT Pavilion, Kiosk 331. The Q Ball – SHOT Show 2017

Monday, October 24th, 2016

Traditionally, Kevin Brittingham has been known for holding some really great SHOT show parties at the Rio’s Voodoo Lounge. If you want to know what a Kevin Brittingham SHOT Show party is like, this  video from 2010 features MiniKISS. It was a rocking good time.

Now that he has the new company Q, why should things be any different? In fact, I’d bet The Q Ball will be even better.

You need to four important things about this event: Zip line, party, girls, fun! Sounds great, right? Be Military, Government or an Industry customer, and you are the kind of person this party is meant for. However, it’s invite only, so the only way to get a pass is through a sponsor, or Q. Unfortunately, there is a limited number of passes as the venue holds only about 500 people. There are still sponsorship packages available and interested parties can reach out to jessica@qllcgroup.com for more info.

If a cool party atmosphere wasn’t enough of a reason to go, how about some business? The Q Ball will feature product releases as well as giveaways and an auction to benefit the great work of the Special Operations Care-Fund.

As an aside for those of you who attend all of these parties at SHOT Show, that graphic gives you an idea of what they cost. So think about that next time you’re sucking down booze provided by a company that you’ll never buy a thing from. Vegas isn’t cheap and Q isn’t making money here, they’re just paying the going rate.

Mike Rowe to Headline 2017 SHOT Show State of the Industry Dinner

Thursday, October 20th, 2016

NSSF is pleased to announce that Executive Producer, Narrator, and TV Host Mike Rowe will provide the headlining entertainment for the 2017 SHOT Show State of the Industry Dinner.

Mike Rowe is best known as the “dirtiest man on TV,” a title he earned on the hit TV series Dirty Jobs, where he completed 300 different jobs traversing all 50 states and transformed cable television into a landscape of swamps, sewers, and coal mines. He has narrated hundreds of documentaries about space, nature, dinosaurs, serial killers, and how stuff works. Most recently, Rowe launched The Way I Heard It, a weekly five-minute podcast of mysteries for the curious mind with a short attention span. He has also forged a handful of partnerships with iconic brands and filmed a boatload of Ford commercials.

As CEO of the mikeroweWORKS Foundation, Rowe speaks regularly about the country’s dysfunctional relationship with work, the widening skills gap, and challenging the persistent belief that a four-year degree is automatically the best path to take for the most people. The mikeroweWORKS Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity that provides financial assistance to people getting trained for skilled jobs that are in demand. Through scholarship programs, like the Work Ethic Scholarship Program, the Foundation has helped grant more than $3 million in technical and/or vocational education for trade schools across the country.

“We’re thrilled to have Mike Rowe speak at our annual State of the Industry Dinner, and it’s not hard to see why,” said Chris Dolnack, NSSF Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. “He is a champion of hard work, fairness and common sense; he has worked tirelessly as an advocate of America’s blue-collar worker; and his philanthropic efforts to put people back to work in skilled jobs have resonated from America’s big cities to its heartland. He’s also one of the most entertaining speakers around, and we think his message is one that everyone at the State of the Industry Dinner will appreciate.”

NSSF’s annual State of the Industry Dinner will take place the first evening of the 2017 SHOT Show, Tuesday, January 17, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The evening will begin with a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres hour. Following the social hour will be a gourmet dinner, then a variety of industry award presentations and the state of the industry address by Steve Sanetti, NSSF President and CEO, before the stage is given over to Mike Rowe. Individual tickets to the event are $125 for NSSF members and $145 for non-members. Tables of 10 can be purchased for $1,150 by NSSF Members and $1,350 by non-members. Seating is limited and this event will sell out, so those wishing to attend are urged to purchase their tickets early. For more information, visit the event’s page.

SHOT Show – Industry Day At The Range – SilencerCo Maxim 9

Tuesday, January 19th, 2016

Admin says they should have called it the 'Lawgiver'

SilencerCo brought along the latest iteration of the Maxim 9 to their booth at Industry Day at the Range. The original Maxim 9 was built upon the Smith & Wesson M&P, more-or-less due to “[SilencerCo] having a lot of them sitting around”. This new Maxim 9 is, by comparison, a SilencerCo design, albeit in a prototype form. This is partially apparent from the 3D printed lower frame, and because of it being a prototype, none of the attendees were allowed to test fire it; a live fire demonstration by a SilencerCo employee was made, however, and we’ll upload footage from that for the readership soon.

DSC06960

Getting back to the pistol itself, it sports a number of impressive changes and upgrades from the initial prototype. First, it now utilizes Glock 17 magazines, which is great for obvious reasons. Adding on to the Glock compatibility, the irons are designed to be replaceable with any Glock-compatible sights. Additionally, it sports a 3.5″ barrel, a quick-action/safe-action-style trigger, the slide catch/stop/release is ambidextrous, and SilencerCo told us they plan to make the mag release ambi as well.

Adding to the changes, the Maxim 9 now features removable baffles much like the Salvo 12 and Osprey Micro, which allows users to shorten the overall profile of the Maxim 9. SilencerCo also told us they are making further refinements to the design, including the development of a method to allow for the mounting of a light and/or laser.

We heard the Maxim 9 may be available as soon as quarter 4 this year, so be on the lookout for more info as it becomes available.

SilencerCo Given Coveted Award for Best Booth at SHOT Show 2015

SilencerCo SHOT 1

WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH – Feb. 2, 2015 – SilencerCo, the industry leader in silencers and accessories, was awarded Best Booth at SHOT Show 2015 by prominent firearms marketing agency Primer Strategy. SHOT (Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade) Show is the firearms industry’s largest annual tradeshow, bringing nearly 70,000 people to Las Vegas each January.

SilencerCo 2

The accolade was given to recognize SilencerCo’s enclosed art gallery-style installation, which used 10 striking gallery wrapped portraits and more than 20 silenced firearms to kick off a yearlong protest theme – #FightTheNoise. The attention to detail employed the use of pasted playbills and posters affixed to an exposed brick façade – all to illustrate the gritty, street-worn feel made iconic by many of the most successful social movements of the past century.

SilencerCo 6

“While walking the SHOW Show floor we noticed a sea of repetition and lack of evolution from year to year – the same booths, same looks and same ideas,” said Katie Perrine, president of Primer Strategy. “Then we saw SilencerCo’s design and had to stop for a closer look. It really embodied what Primer sees as the new direction of the firearms industry – strong, creative, unconventional designs without fear of breaking traditions.”

SilencerCo 3

“Hopefully manufacturers in the upcoming years will enter the ‘race’ for the best design at SHOT,” added Primer’s creative director, Benjamin Forde, whose past accomplishments include art direction for FX’s Sons of Anarchy and HBO’s Generation Kill and The Pacific.

SilencerCo 4

#FightTheNoise – SilencerCo’s grass-roots campaign for gun owners to demand quieter firearms and fewer federal and state regulations on firearm silencers – will continue to be a major platform for mobilizing the public throughout 2015.

SilencerCo 5

“SilencerCo has always been an advocacy leader in our space, and with silencers growing faster than any other segment of the firearms industry, we thought it was time to get consumers involved in change for the better,” said SilencerCo CEO Josh Waldron. “Silencer owners can expect calls to action throughout the year, supporting the deregulation of silencer purchase and ownership, as well as their use in hunting applications.”
