ORWM – Princeton Tec

Thursday, January 12th, 2017

Princeton Tec has three updated products for the outdoor market.

First off is the Axis is based on the Synch. They’ve added a button and rheostat-like switch on the side which allow you to control the various functions which include Red, Spot and Flood with 200 peak lumens dimmable to 5 lumens. When you’ve reached either high or low lumens, the light will flash momentarily. Available in rechargeable and 3 x AAA batteries with a max runtime of 117 hours at the low spot setting.

Next up is the addition to the Helix lantern line. The Backcountry lantern is now rechargeable with a collapsible globe and legs.

Last, but not least is the Aqua Strobe. Essentially, they replaced the Xenon bulb with an LED lamp.  It is positively buoyant and will float with the head up so it’s always visible. The waterproof light offers 100 lumes with visibility over one mile. One AA battery runs for 12 hours.

Princeton Tec lights are available for Unit and Agency purchase from ADS Inc.

ORWM – CTOMS Haul System

Thursday, January 12th, 2017

CTOMS just received their prototype double Prodigy pulleys and set them up as a Haul System to demonstrate their potential.

Progress capture can be either Prussick or QA. The QA is more efficient, but they wanted to offer the versatility. Eventually, CTOMS will formalize the setup and give it a name when they offer it as a product.

Magpul – PMAG 30 AR 300 B for 300 BLK Shipping This Spring

Wednesday, January 11th, 2017

The PMAG 30 AR 300 B GEN M3 is a purpose-designed magazine for rifles chambered in .300 Blackout. Since its inception, 300 Blackout shooters have had to use a magazine designed for another cartridge, limiting its performance and compatibility. One of the nice features of 300 Blackout is the compatibility with 5.56x45mm parts, but with the magazine it is a compromise to do so. Due to the wide variety of projectile weights and shapes potentially decreasing overall reliability, a dedicated 300 Blackout magazine was a logical step for the PMAG line.

In addition to the performance gained by a dedicated mag, the PMAG 30 AR 300 B also offers a safer way to feed your 300 BLK rifle. When using 5.56 mags, the potential to chamber and fire a 300 BLK round in a 5.56 rifle with catastrophic results requires diligent ammunition management by the shooter. The PMAG 30 AR 300 B’s distinct rib design provides the shooter a distinct visual and tactile difference from any other PMAG to mitigate dangerous cross-loading issues. Along with optimized 300 BLK performance, the PMAG 30 AR 300 B brings along all of the GEN M3 features such as our next-generation impact and crush resistant polymer, aggressive front and rear texture, an easily removable slim floor plate, a paint pen dot matrix for marking and identification, and a dust/impact cover.

• Dedicated, purpose-designed magazine for rifles chambered in 300 Blackout
• Optimized internal geometry accommodates the wide variety of bullet profiles used in 300 Blackout cartridges
• Distinct rib design provides the shooter a visual & tactile difference from any other pmag to mitigate dangerous cross-loading
• Carries forward the physical & performance features of the rest of the GEN M3 line

ORWM – Salomon

Wednesday, January 11th, 2017

Based on a previous SLab design, the Sense Ride from Salomon is a new, versatile trail racing and training shoe.  While pro athletes are already winning races in this shoe, it’s also a good fit for the new trail runner.  Think about the running trails on any military base as a great application for the Sense Ride.

It incorporates their Vibe technology which attenuates vibration in order to reduce fatigue.  The secret is their Opal technology which is a soft, high rebound material in a mid-sole compartment, combined with the Energy Cell+ midsole compound with high energy return.

Additionally, the Sense Ride offers geometric decoupling which patterns the sole in order to work with how the foot moves through its stride, with more efficient heel-to-toe transition.  For those interested, it has an 8mm drop and weighs 230 grams.
