Gunfighter Update

Sunday, August 8th, 2010

Vertx has announced that the upcoming Gunfighter shirt we recently wrote about will initially be offered in two versions. The first will be a classic 50/50 ripstop NYCO and the second labeled the Storm will be crafted from a water resistant lightweight soft-shell laminate.

Vertx/Fechheimer CEO Bob Getto wore the Storm on a recent Coyote hunting trip in Montana and filed a video report found at the link.

Pre-order now, these are offered in MultiCam and we are sure they will sell out fast. Vertx begins shipping in October.

BHI PKM Accessories in Upcoming Movie

Saturday, August 7th, 2010

The upcoming movie “RED” starring Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich features Blackheart International’s PKM accessories including the PKM soft ammo bags, PKM tri-rail fore-end, canted vertical fore-grip, and PKM folding-stock.

The attached image is from one of the recently released movie trailers. The weapon in the background (the one with that has the large muzzle flash) is the PKM with their accessories on it. It looks like they cut the front sight tower off of the barrel.

“Red” is set for release on October 15th, 2010. For the best in foreign weapons accessories visit www.BHIgear.com.

Klymit take a different approach to insulation by allowing you to control the amount in your garment. Their NobleTek insulation is safely and easily transported in the HotShot cartridges which contain 8 grams of Argon gas. Klymit offers several insulation vests including the Khameleon seen here. The amount of insulation is controlled by the wearer.

Klymit has always been interested in the military market. Level 4 Group, a military and defense consultant, recently invested $2.2 million into Klymit’s military equipment strategy. Make sure you visit them at booth #38207 if you are attending the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market.

Hyperlite Mountain Gear

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

We recently learned about Hyperlite Mountain Gear which manufacturers ultra lightweight shelters made from Cuben fiber, a non-woven material used as sail cloth. They offer packs as well as one and two-man shelters and tarps including their flagship ECHO I Ultralight Shelter System. Consisting of a Cuben fiber tarp, a detachable mesh tent insert for insect and ground water protection, and a detachable vestibule for wind and storm protection, the ECHO I weighs a scant 1.36 lbs (21.8 oz) with guy lines. Don’t let the photo with the white color turn you off. Cuben fiber can be dyed virtually any color. In fact, Hyperlite Mountain Gear has a digital camo version.

AirBedz from Pittman Outdoors

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Pittman Outdoors presents AirBedz…The Original Truck Bed Air Mattress. On display in booth # BR747 at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market going on until this Friday at the Salt Palace in downtown SLC, Airbedz are now available in a digital camo pattern. Specifically, Airbedz are designed to be used in the bed of a pickup. In fact, their 3 sizes accommodate 95% of trucks.

AirBedz fit around and over the wheel wells in pickup beds creating a sleep area that utilizes the entire truck bed so you are not sleeping “between the wheel wells”. Optional inflatable Wheel Well Inserts convert AirBedz into a standard mattress for use in homes or tents. Additionally, Airbedz feature a built-in rechargeable pump for inflation/deflation.

Inflatable mattresses can develop leaks, particularly in austere environments, but the photo of the truck parked atop the AirBedz is a testament to the work that Pittman Outdoors has done to create this product. Obviously, they are going to be a big hit for those who regularly work from a pickup but we are also told that they work great in a HMMWV.
