Tactical Grilling Visor

Tuesday, March 20th, 2012

Tactical Grilling has just introduced their new Visors. Made in USA from high performance water- and stain-repellant soft shell material combined with a moisture wicking sweatband, the Visor is available in Alpha Grey, Coyote Tan and MultiCam. Additionally, centered on the front of the Visor is a Velcro patch with a discreet embroidered TG logo.

Additionally, you might want to get a customized TG patch to go along with your new visor. They can laser cut any word, phrase, or menu item into Cordura (in colors/patterns to match your Tactical Grilling gear), then sandwich it with glow-in-the-dark material and Velcro hook. It’s just like a call sign placard.

MultiCam Materials – Beaver

Tuesday, March 20th, 2012

Every two weeks SSD showcases a different MultiCam print fabric from Duro Textiles LLC. This week, we are covering Beaver. MultiCam is a single camouflage pattern designed to help the wearer hide in varied environments, seasons, elevations, and light conditions. After a great deal of commercial success and adoption by elements of US Special Operations Forces, in 2010 MultiCam was selected for use by the US Army as its Operation Enduring Freedom Camouflage Pattern (OCP).

This technical stretch fabric is designed for extreme-performance outerwear applications. By using a 3-ply laminate 4-way stretch composite is a waterproof breathable fabric. For added protection, they have applied branded NanoSphere® water repellent finish to the outside. This is a great solution for those companies that have been asking SSD about an off-the-shelf softshell fabric.

Specs:
Finished Width – 55 inches cuttable
Finished Weight – 3.75 oz/yd² approximately
Fiber Content – 93% Nylon/7% Spandex
Specific Properties – NanoSphere® Water Repellent

Download test report here.

Crye Precision actually chose Beaver for their FieldShell due to its lightweight properties and foul weather performance. The FieldShell features a unique, armor compatible venting system that unzips radially around the axis of the shoulder. This means it is accessible whether you are wearing armor or not. Additionally, the jacket features a lined collar and flat hidden-zipper front, as well as discreet zip mesh pockets for internal storage as well as inset bicep pockets.

Duro offers progressive pricing based on the number of yards ordered. For more information on this or any of the full line of MultiCam fabrics visit www.multicamfabric.com or email Galpen_Ben@DuroLink.com.

SABRE Introduces Commercial Sales of PenCott Gear

Tuesday, March 20th, 2012

SABRE is German firm JK Defence & Security Products GmbH’s tactical brand. Out of all of the new commercial camouflage patterns available, JK Defence selected Hyde Definition’s PenCott to offer their customers in the special operations community. PenCott is also the only non-German camouflage pattern in the SABRE portfolio.

Up to now, JK Defence has been selling PenCott-GreenZone and PenCott-Badlands clothing and gear to German and Austrian military and law enforcement special ops units, but not to the commercial market. But, due to the increasing popularity of and demand for the PenCott patterns, JK Defence has decided to also offer PenCott clothing and gear commercially as well.

The PenCott products will be on the SABRE website soon, in the meantime here are some sneak peak photos of SABRE’s 3rd Generation Special Forces Smock and Combat Field Shirt in PenCott-GreenZone and PenCott-Badlands. Further details can be obtained by sending JK Defence an email at info@sabre-shop.de or by calling +49 (0)2152-1445-88.

Otis Technology Recognized

Monday, March 19th, 2012

Otis Technology is the recipient of the 2012 Productivity Achievement Award by Modern Materials Handling (MMH). Each year the MMH publication recognizes the achievements of three of the facilities that they have featured in the magazine within the past 12 months with a Productivity Award. Otis was announced as the Productivity Award winner in the manufacturing and innovation category for their use of mobile robots in their manufacturing operations. The award was announced in the February 2012 issue of the publication.

Otis relies on RMT Robotics ADAM™ autonomous mobile robots for on-demand random origin to random destination transport of work-in-process materials between Otis’s manufacturing and AS/RS based storage and final assembly operations.

Otis’ Director of Operations, Harold Philbrick says, “Otis has never been afraid to use technology as a means to help make our operations more efficient. We identified excessive amounts of material transportation within our process during initial stages of lean implementation and have since utilized the ADAMs to move material throughout the facility. The benefits of this implementation were recognized immediately. More output has led to shorter lead times and higher on time delivery, while improved operating efficiency has led to inventory accuracy. Being recognized with this Productivity Award shows the success of our implementation in a different aspect. We are very honored.”
