BetaBrand DiscoLab

Wednesday, June 27th, 2012

So I’m at the MCX perusing the magazines and the latest issue of “Soldier of Fortune” magazine has an interview with Brandon Webb so I pick it up. I get home and start flipping through and low and behold there is a full page ad for Betabrand featuring a guy wearing a hoodie made out of a disco ball kissing a disco ball. Seriously. This was one of the greatest “WTF?” moments of my life. I am still not sure what is going on.

I went to the website and found the “DiscoLab” section and this gem of a photo. I wonder how long it will be until we see these on our local range.

Diamondback Tactical Introduces Dual Compliant Level II Armor Package

Wednesday, June 27th, 2012

Diamondback Tactical LLLP, recently announced the release of its first dual-compliant, N-Force Level II armor vest. The N-Force Level II (male) is compliant with the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) Standard-0101.06, and it is also tested in accordance with the FBI ballistic test protocol 2.0 (12/02/2008) at HP White Laboratory. It is the first Level II vest to reach this milestone.

“On the heels of our first tri-compliant* armor vest, the N-Force Level II further solidifies our charge to provide highly-technological and innovative armor systems to operators worldwide,” said Dale Taylor, President of Diamondback Tactical. “We lead the industry by setting performance standards that our operators have come to trust and depend upon. The significance of a Level II armor vest passing what has historically been thought of as a Level IIIA test is one of the first of its kind in the industry. We look forward to setting and pushing the bar in the design of armor that is both wearable and extremely high performing.”
*DBT’s Synergy IIIA is the industry’s first tri-compliant vest tested to the NIJ .06 standard, FBI ballistic test protocol and the DEA armor test protocol.

The Lengths Beyond Tactical Will Go To

Wednesday, June 27th, 2012

I recently met with Beyond Clothing’s Scott Jones to discuss his latest products. He showed me these modified level 9 pants with strips of Velcro loop all over them. He explained that the pants were originally built to support a DHS data collection effort for Law Enforcement uniforms. They allowed officers from several agencies to wear the pants in a variety of situations and place pockets of various sizes and shapes in the optimal position for their duties.

Now, Beyond uses these pants as a tool to help small organizations to customize their feature sets. This really shortens the development cycle so that fewer prototypes have to be made as the configuration can be converted into a pattern. It’s just one of the customization tools Beyond Clothing brings to the customer.
