Who Is Tracker Dan?

Friday, August 3rd, 2012

Tracker Dan’s name most often comes up regarding the knives that he makes, particularly the BloodShark. But, there is a lot more to the man. He’s a Navy SEAL but even that doesn’t define who he is. He has dedicated his life to primitive outdoor living and surviving in the wild, on the battlefield and on the streets. He also develops knives and tools to that end. This video gives you a good look into some of Tracker Dan’s background and what drives him.

SOTech Releases Gen 2 of Quick Eject Tourniquet Pouch

Friday, August 3rd, 2012

SOTech has responded to requests from the field and upgraded the BLOCS Quick Eject Tourniquet Carrier with the addition of a rubber band and retention tab. The tab and rubber band give the user the option to have the tourniquet hang from the tab in the center of the panel after the shroud is burst open. Most customers were happy with the tourniquet popping out into their hand upon releasing the snap and bursting the shroud open. However, some were concerned about applying a tourniquet while on the move, so they added the rubber band retention for that. A light weight rubber band is supplied so the wounded and bleeding casualty can easily snap the band while pulling the tourniquet away from the shroud. Additionally, a stitch was added to the shroud fastening it to the harness at a second point in order to form a slight cup to add light retention while bursting the shroud. Note that the tourniquet carrier can be used with or without the rubber band.

SOTech also want to call attention to the pairing of the Flat IFAK with the BLOCS Quick Eject Tourniquet Carrier. While the IFAK has room for the tourniquet to be carried internally, it was intended to be purchased with the separate tourniquet carrier so the tourniquet could be mounted on the front of the vest while the rest of the IFAK elements could be comfortably and compactly stowed in the lower back region using SOTech’s Flat IFAK. Both products are in wide use throughout law enforcement and the military.

OR – Tear-Aid

Thursday, August 2nd, 2012

Tear-Aid is a see-through, airtight and waterproof repair tape. It is elastic and features an extreme bond. It sounds perfect for field repairs. In fact, the USCG uses it to repair their Zodiacs.

It comes in two types. Type B is for vinyl only and Type A works with all other materials.

OR – Cilogear

Thursday, August 2nd, 2012

Cilogear has introduced a signature line of packs. Now you can use the same setup as their sponsored athletes. For example, this is David Gottlieb model. He is a mountain rescue legend and relies on a special model of Cilogear’s 45 Worksack. It’s a combination of woven and non-woven fabrics to produce bomber performance. It’s fucking light and stupidly durable. Can you imagine a pack as light as 1.4 lbs stripped?
