Crye Precision Releases StockPad for AirFrame Chops

Wednesday, February 27th, 2013

The Crye Precision AirFrame is currently the most innovative ballistic helmet design on the market. When combined with the removable ballistic chops, not only do you look like a Spartan Warrior but also gain some much needed maxillofacial protection. While it is quite possible to effect a cheek weld with a rifle, the finish of the Chops can be quite slick against the stock.

At SHOT Show this year Crye unveiled the StockPad, an adhesive backed high friction material that can be applied by the user to the Chops. Offered in right and left versions, the StockPad helps you get a good grip on that stock.

Available now in any color so long as its Black.

1a. Minimum order size is 25 if you want to go solo and not hope you can convince 15 or so other forum members to go along.
2. You’ll have to prepay.

Magpul to Support Coloradans With PMAGs

Wednesday, February 27th, 2013

Magpul made an interesting announcement via Facebook.

We are proud to announce that within a matter of days we will be going live with a new program. Due to a bill currently moving through the Colorado legislature, there is the possibility that Colorado residents’ ability to purchase standard capacity magazines will soon be infringed. Before that happens, and Magpul is forced to leave the state in order to keep to our principles, we will be doing our best to get standard capacity PMAGs into the hands of any Colorado resident that wants them.

Verified Colorado residents will be able to purchase up to ten (10) standard capacity AR/M4 magazines directly from Magpul, and will be given immediate flat-rate $5 shipping, bypassing our current order queue.

Our customers outside of Colorado, please know that our PMAG production will continue at an ever-increasing rate until we do relocate, shipments to our distributors in other states will continue, and that we do not expect relocation to significantly impact PMAG production. We are also aware that Colorado is not the only state with existing or pending magazine capacity restrictions; we are working on programs for other affected states as well.

Full details and instructions will be announced when we are able to go live; please watch here for the coming announcement.

Scott Mello to Join Raine Inc Team

Tuesday, February 26th, 2013

Rains Inc has announced that they have hired Scott Mello as the company’s new Production Manager. In his previous life, Scott was the Production/Operations Manager for Eagle Industries, where he spearheaded continuous development and improvement of the MOLLE manufacturing in Eagle’s Massachusetts and Puerto Rico production facilities, implementing the IOTV program and achieving ISO 9001 certification.

Prior to his service at Eagle, Scott spent a decade as a project manager building custom Grand Prix boats, Volvo ocean race boats, and America’s Cup yachts. Scott is also an honorably discharged United States Navy veteran.

Scott also spent several years as Plant manager at Second Chance, producing soft and hard armor, composite armor, shields and helmets for military, SWAT and law enforcement.

“We found a great asset in Scott. He is one of those guys that after 5 minutes you can tell he has his stuff wired tight. This is a really exciting time for Raine, and the addition of Scott just drives that home even more because of the knowledge and expertise he brings to the table. Raine has a lot of new and exciting things going on right now, but I think that as Scott starts to put his stamp on things, you’re going to see that many more things we can point to. We are evolving and this is the next piece; we are really excited about it.”
