Does Your MR NICE Frame Need A Lift?

The NICE Frame was designed to maintain a low profile to be used with smaller adaptable bags. But Mystery Ranch listened to their hunting customers who had adopted it for their use. They carry some serious loads so MR developed an adapter called the NICE Lifter to offer a steeper load lifter angle. It might also be just the thing for some of you guys who use the NICE frame for tactical applications.

Sneak Peek – Improved MALICE Clips from Tactical Tailor

During a recent trip to the Pacific Northwest I has to opportunity to visit Tactical Tailor factory where I saw their injection molding machine pumping out 4 new MALICE clips every 45 seconds. But there was something different about these MALICE clips. I asked if I could share a few details and here’s your scoop.

The new design enhancements give the MALICE clip a slightly different look which sheds some weight. The curved design also makes it easier to thread the MALICE clip through webbing. Additionally, TT has changed the formula of the polymer to add strength yet give it a more flexible feel. In fact, the new model has already tested at over 20 times as strong as the current version and 40% lighter.

They’ve also been working to improve how they mount the MALICE clip to pouches. You may notice that here they are using a backer made from impregnated nylon.

Cool Guy Yard Sale at 1 Month

Friends and Shooters I would like to bring you all an update on the activity at Cool Guy Yard Sale (CGYS) over the last 30 days since the website went live bringing a new idea to the shooting community. A service based business that serves members in 3 ways and we are pushing forward with new initiatives, partners and members daily.

As I mentioned above CGYS is a very different idea. If you look around the shooting sports industry you will find very few service-based businesses outside of the gunsmiths and custom shops. We are out to change that dynamic with the first multi-faceted, membership based, convenience website. Services currently range in three areas with more services being built into a single website so that we can provide a single location on the web for you to go to receive information and discounts from industry leaders, news concerning the shooting sports and Second Amendment activities, along with an outlet for moving guns and gear that you no longer need or want.

The last 30 days have been very exciting for us and for all of our new members who have been making great deals and taking up our industry partners for amazing discounts direct from the manufactures. In the last month we have had more than 70,000 page views with an average time on CGYS of more than 4 minutes. That is huge and has started to drive the engine of commerce between all the people we are brining together.

CGYS has a lot to do to make sure that your membership fee of $10 per month is a huge bargain for each and every one of you. Let me tell you how we are doing it.

First there is the news and podcasts links that we are building in with more pages coming soon. I know that everyone is busy with work and life and I also know that surfing the net isn’t as easy as it once was. Social media is distracting and much of what you wanted to see by “liking” a page is missed due to Facebook rules and Twitter is limited by character content. CGYS is working with the best bloggers, podcasters and video channels to bring everything into one central location for you convenience and knowledge.

Next, we are working with some of the best places to shop and train to provide member only special discounts that will save you more than your membership dues over the course of the year. Just a few of the companies on board are Raven Concealment, Austere Provisions, Peter’s Custom Holsters, Ballistics USA and TacStrike Steel Target Systems.

To provide an example TacStrike Systems provides CGYS members a special 15% discount code that can be found when you are member of CGYS. That’s almost 4 month’s of membership fees covered in one outside purchase.

Then there is the Yard Sale itself. This is the centerpiece of what we are doing as a service. Just visit the yard sale once and you will realize that we put a lot of effort into making CGYS look more like Amazon and nothing like a forum’s gear exchange. Businesses are also welcome to join CGYS and sell their inventory on the website. A slightly higher membership fee is required to run your store on CGYS but we will never ask you for another dime after your membership fees. That’s right NO COMMISIONS, NO LISTING FEES, NO BRIBING YOU FOR A BETTER LISTING.

The future holds great things as well. Ammo finders, training schedules, NFA and FFL Resources, along with some top secret partnerships that will prove to be handy and informative for the members of CGYS.

Hundred of shooters have already joined the ranks of CGYS and personally I’ve already sold more than $700 worth of used gear that I will never miss and am halfway to my goal for a new optic. Vickers Recreates CAR-15 He Used On Medelo Prison Raid

I know all of you youngsters have been a gaged in combat since 2001 but back in the 80s and 90s, combat operations were rare. One of the biggies was Operation Just Cause, the invasion of Panama. Retired Army MSG Larry Vickers participated in Operation Acid Gambit, a component of that invasion that rescued American Kurt Muse from the clutches of a despotic Panamanian regime. LAV has recreated the Colt 723 carbine he used on that raid.

It includes an Aimpoint 2000 and a SCUBA flashlight hose clamped to the handguards. Compare that to what we see today. The rifle oh 1989 is essentially the same but the accessories are light years apart.

Swedish firm coXa carry AB has developed a new integrated front suspension design that integrates the shoulder and waist straps into a single buckle hub. Growing up, inventor Claes Bergkvist was a Scout and took his backpacking seriously. As he grew up, he came upon this concept. After working with several international firms to develop the design (including Duraflex) he was granted a patent last year.

In addition to introducing a line of packs, they are also looking for licensees of this technology. Above and below you can see different design concepts for this ergonomic backpack carrying system. One distinct advantage is that it frees your arms up quite bit as well as the waist which may well transfer to increased mobility.

Crye Precision Modular Riggers Belt

The MRB from Crye Precision is a bit different than the other war belts on the market. The idea was to lower bulk around the waist caused by the wear of belts one atop the next. Money important thing to note right from the outset is that the MRB is not padded and bulk is kept to a minimum.

It’s a system that offers an inner layer that can be used as a very low profile stiffened pants belt called the LoopLock™. Any stiffness is provided by the innermost LoopLock™. The entire MRB, including the inner LoopLock™ are all cut on a bias to be more ergonomic when worn on the waist. Other components include a main load bearing belt called the Outer Belt and a sleeve referred to as the Outer Cover.

The MRB’s LoopLock™ allows two configurations:
-Keep the inner LoopLock™ layer attached to belt for most secure and stable setup.
-Wear inner LoopLock™ layer as a separate low-profile pants belt for added versatility which means you can take your duty rig off and still hold your pants up. But, wearing the MRB this way means it may sit lower than you’d typically wear a full on padded or armored war belt.

Additionally, the outer belt has a convenient side release buckle which can be simply replaced with virtually any first line belt for those looking for something different. However, this main load bearing belt has a really cool feature often found on backpack waist belts. The webbing doubles back though the dual adjust side release buckle and can be pulled forward to adjust fit meaning you’ll get a much better and tighter fit if that is what you are going for.

I’ve worn the MRB and like it. It’s not quite like anything else out there. There are a couple of slots on the side portions of the outer cover to access the main load bearing belt for load carriage options such as drop leg rigs and the sleeve itself boasts two rows of PALS fields on each side and to the rear. Additionally, the MRB can be combined with suspenders of needed. Of there’s anything that I’m not enamored of it’s the aluminum buckle on the LoopLock™. Don’t get me wrong, it works well but it can be a pain to thread the Velcro tab through that holds the belt together.
