Get The Latest WL Gore Technology From ADS

Friday, September 20th, 2013

ADS Inc has garments featuring three great new technologies from WL Gore.

GORE® PYRAD® HARD SHELL

I’ve mentioned WL Gore’s Pyrad technology before which transforms their waterproof breathable fabric by adding FR properties. It’s fantastic that the process retains the base fabric’s inherent characteristics.

Features & Benefits:
-Protection Against Heat and Flame
-Increased Thermal Stability
-FR Properties Built Into Laminate Structure
-Maintains Physical Integrity
-Designed with GORE-TEX® Fabric – Protects Wearer in Rain, Snow, and Windy Conditions
-Durable Nylon Face Textile
-Comfortable Performance

Below is a video of a Pyrad garment compared to a Gen III ECWCS Level 6 garment during a Pyroman test.

GORE® LIGHTWEIGHT LOFT SYSTEM

This was adopted by USSOCOM as Level 3B of their Protective Combat Uniform and is constructed using a combination of a Gore shell fabric and PrimaLoft Fusion insulation. I’ve tried it out and yes, it’s comfortable and insulates quite well but the thing that I really like is that you can quickly stuff it into a pack despite the membrane.

Features & Benefits:
Air Permeable
Moisture Vapor Permeable
Water Resistant
Durably Windproof

GORE® LIGHT & FAST GORE-TEX® JACKET SYSTEM

I had a chance to briefly check out this final piece last week at DSEi in the UK. It’s the thinnest Gore membrane I’ve run across and is aptly named. Think of it as taking performance fabrics meant for conventional athletes and applying it to the military athlete.

Features & Benefits:
Durable, Waterproof and Windproof
Highly Breathable with Improved Next-to-Skin Comfort
Improved Utility for Enhanced Mission Effectiveness
Engineered for Highly Aerobic Activities

All of these products are available for unit and agency purchase through www.adsinc.com/wl-gore. Also, look for them next week with Gore Military at Modern Day Marine.

Today Is National POW/MIA Recognition Day

Friday, September 20th, 2013

I grew up in a military that was still full of Viet Nam Vets and the thought of American servicemen being left behind really meant a lot to us as a community. And, there was still hope that we might get some of those men back, alive. And while those hopes have gone for many, as a nation we still endeavor to recover the remains of our missing through the efforts of the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command which has gone through a variety of name changes over the years.

While we’ve been fortunate to not have many POWs or MIAs in this conflict, please take some time to reflect on those over the years who didn’t make it back and must wander in our prayers and dreams until we can one day bring them home and unite them with their loved ones.

Snake Hound Machine Announces Kinesthetic Reeducation Division

Friday, September 20th, 2013

We received this announcement from Snake Hound Machine. I’ve met Adam, one of the instructors at this newly announced training firm and he is a solid guy. I gotta admit, I’m still on the fence over the name but I’m intrigued on how this will go.

20130920-074231.jpg

After months of planning we are finally ready to announce Team Snake Hound, our Kinesthetic Reeducation Division (training department) Headed by Jeff Varner, a veteran of the Rob Pincus Combat Focus Shooting program, Team Snake Hound is focused on offering vital and affordable classes that provide the necessary skills and information to help people be safe and potentially save lives. We are committed to providing value and have a great passion for teaching and helping others. Often you will hear us say we are “doing the right things, for the right reasons” this stems from the fact that we are offering training because our customers have asked for it, and our courses are structured around three types of classes we feel are important: how to understand and repair your firearms, how to properly employ your firearms, and how to give proper medical care to yourself and others. Located in New Hampshire, the unarguable home of New England gun culture allows us to fill a major void in regional and local training options and furthers our long term goal of establishing New Hampshire as a destination location for the firearms industry. Information about the team, bios, and scheduled classes can be found at AllWeDoIsW.in

Tactical Tailor and Grey Ghost Gear Win Marine Corps Family of Pouches Contract

Friday, September 20th, 2013

Tactical Tailor just informed us that they have been awarded a contract by the United States Marine Corps to provide four pouches for Marine use.

Today Tactical Tailor was advised they were selected to provide modular load-bearing pouches for the AN/PVS-14, AN/PRC-153 IISR and PRC 152. They will also be providing 40mm grenade bandoliers. Additionally, Tactical Tailor collaborated closely with partner Grey Ghost Gear to obtain the contract.

The NVG pouch, technically the AN/PVS-14 Night Vision Monocular and Rhino Mount pouch, was designed by Grey Ghost Gear in conjunction with USSOCOM personnel who were actually on the ground in Afghanistan at the time.

The 40mm bandoliers are one of the most widely-recognized pieces of gear Tactical Tailor manufactures and has been provided to numerous units at the local level. Now, it will be “standard issue” to all Marine grenadiers.

Tactical Tailor CEO Casey Ingels was preparing to fly to the Middle East to consult with representatives of USSOCOM at the time of this release. However, Lindsey Lea, Grey Ghost Gear Director of Business Development and High Despotrix, was happy to discuss the contract.

“This was the first really big collaboration between Tactical Tailor and Grey Ghost Gear,” Ms. Lea advised. “We’re especially excited because this was a specific request. They didn’t come to us and ask us to build something they’d already developed specs for. They contracted us to provide those pieces of gear because it has all been tested hard in the field. This is obviously great news. From a business perspective it’s obviously a great contract to win. From a personal perspective it’s very rewarding to know we’ve had a hand in putting the most rugged, purpose-built gear available into those Marines’ hands.”

The items and their NSNs include:
