GLOCK Releases Two New MOS Pistols:G17 Gen4 in MOS & G19 Gen4 in MOS

Tuesday, January 19th, 2016

Today, GLOCK, Inc., announced the release of two new pistols to join the Modular Optic System (MOS) series, the G17 Gen4 in MOS and the G19 Gen4 in MOS.
Now, two of GLOCK’s best selling pistols are available with milled slides designed specifically to be adaptable to multiple optic systems without costly customization. The G17 Gen4 MOS and G19 Gen4 MOS are the ideal addition to the series as the market continues to trend toward optic-ready everyday carry and defense.

“We’re seeing more and more professional trainers recommend the use of optics for primary and defensive use,” stated Josh Dorsey, vice president at GLOCK. “Optic ready pistols will enable faster target acquisition when a reflex sight is mounted.”

Both pistols are chambered in .9mm and do not differ in specifications from their respective standard models. Other MOS pistols, introduced in January of 2015, are the G34 Gen4 MOS, G35 Gen4 MOS, G41 Gen4 MOS, and the G40 Gen4 MOS. The new models were unveiled today at the Range Day for SHOT Show and will be on display at the GLOCK booth (#12254) throughout the week. The pistols will be available for purchase at retailers in the following weeks.

SHOT Show – Industry Day At The Range – SilencerCo Maxim 9

Tuesday, January 19th, 2016

Admin says they should have called it the 'Lawgiver'

SilencerCo brought along the latest iteration of the Maxim 9 to their booth at Industry Day at the Range. The original Maxim 9 was built upon the Smith & Wesson M&P, more-or-less due to “[SilencerCo] having a lot of them sitting around”. This new Maxim 9 is, by comparison, a SilencerCo design, albeit in a prototype form. This is partially apparent from the 3D printed lower frame, and because of it being a prototype, none of the attendees were allowed to test fire it; a live fire demonstration by a SilencerCo employee was made, however, and we’ll upload footage from that for the readership soon.

Getting back to the pistol itself, it sports a number of impressive changes and upgrades from the initial prototype. First, it now utilizes Glock 17 magazines, which is great for obvious reasons. Adding on to the Glock compatibility, the irons are designed to be replaceable with any Glock-compatible sights. Additionally, it sports a 3.5″ barrel, a quick-action/safe-action-style trigger, the slide catch/stop/release is ambidextrous, and SilencerCo told us they plan to make the mag release ambi as well.

Adding to the changes, the Maxim 9 now features removable baffles much like the Salvo 12 and Osprey Micro, which allows users to shorten the overall profile of the Maxim 9. SilencerCo also told us they are making further refinements to the design, including the development of a method to allow for the mounting of a light and/or laser.

We heard the Maxim 9 may be available as soon as quarter 4 this year, so be on the lookout for more info as it becomes available.

LMT Announces MARS-L Fully Ambidextrous Rifle Platform

Tuesday, January 19th, 2016

LMT Defense is excited to announce they are releasing the Modular Ambidextrous Rifle System – Light (MARS-L), the most modern ambidextrous M4 ever. The MARS-L platform was designed in response to a foreign military requirement to field a fully ambidextrous weapon system with complete symmetry and commonality of controls so that users could manipulate the weapon from either side in the same fashion. This weapon now proudly serves the New Zealand Defence Force. The MARS-L can first been seen at the 2016 NSSF SHOT Show in booth #20249 and is expected to start shipping at the end of the first quarter of 2016.

The weapon is fully ambidextrous with LMT Defense designed and manufactured: Ambi-Safety Selector Switch; Ambi-Magazine Release Button; Ambi-Bolt Catch/Release Paddle; and Ambi-Charging Handle. All have been tested and vetted by both military and law enforcement agencies. The ambidextrous features allow an operator to perform more operations from either hand including catching the bolt with the right index finger so as not to remove the hand from the grip. To achieve this, the new lower forging design includes the bumps for the Ambi-Bolt Catch/Release Paddle, Ambi- Magazine Release Button and Fence Well. The lower forging also includes a flared magazine well that assists the operator in locating the magazine during insertion.

The modular weapon design is available in Semi-Auto (LS) or Select Fire (LA) models with 14.5”, 16”, 18” and 20” barrel options and can be fitted with the CQB® upper to accommodate a 10.5” barrel. The weapon also includes eight QD locations – five on the front rail, one in the end plate of the lower receiver and two on the stock. The weapon is “lightweight” in that it is designed for smaller rifle calibers: 5.56mm, .300 Blackout, .204Ruger, and 6.8 SPCI.

Finally, the MARS-L utilizes LMT Defense’s monolithic upper receiver to ensure the straightest and strongest rail in the industry. The one piece aluminum forging also allows for the longest barrel extension in the industry which contributes to the greatest weapon accuracy on a production scale.

Reebok and the Makers of GORE-TEX Fabric Have Reinvented the Hot Weather Boot

Tuesday, January 19th, 2016

Manufacturers of quality military and tactical footwear and exclusive licensee for Reebok military and tactical boots, and W. L. Gore & Associates, inventor of GORE-TEX® fabric, recently announced a new line of waterproof military and tactical footwear for hot weather, the Reebok KRIOS Series.

Made in the U.S.A., the new Reebok KRIOS is the only tactical boot that keeps feet cool and comfortable in hot environments and dry in wet conditions.

“This is a new GORE-TEX® footwear technology from Gore,” says Bill Candy, Product Manager at Gore. “GORE-TEX® Extended Comfort Technology provides unrivaled breathability in hot weather and has been proven in lab tests to keep feet cool and comfortable in hot weather.”

“We’ve been collaborating for years with Gore to develop and test this product,” says John Duvic, Warson Brands Corporate VP of Product Development. “Our goal was to construct a waterproof, lightweight boot that is comfortable in hot conditions and strong enough for heavy duty use; the Reebok KRIOS achieves that goal.”

Fused protective layers reduce bulk, minimize absorption, and dry quickly, preventing added weight in wet conditions. The KRIOS’S construction results in a boot that absorbs 90% less water when compared to non-waterproof boots.

The KRIOS is built to thrive under the harshest conditions demanded by military and tactical duty professionals. The MeraMAX® outsole provides four times the abrasion resistance of rubber. This, plus a rugged nylon and leather outer shell, and GORE-TEX® exoskeleton, means every layer of the KRIOS is built to last.

The new Reebok KRIOS Series is available in an 8-inch mil-spec boot in desert tan, black, sage green, and coyote. Features include a speed lacing system and electrical hazard protection.

Reebok military and tactical footwear is available now through select duty uniform retailers throughout the United States. For more information about the Reebok KRIOS, visit ReebokWork.com/KRIOS.

Bill Mills, President, Jim Maritz, CEO, and Warson Brands sales and product development teams will be available at SHOT Show booth 10179 in Las Vegas Jan. 19-22 to demonstrate the KRIOS and answer any questions.

This will be followed by 10mm Auto and .357 SIG by year’s end, as well as 9x21mm, which is intended specifically for the international market.
