The Illustration and Graphic Designer will be a member of the in-house marketing team, which is responsible for creative development and execution of internal and external marketing communications and branding materials. The scope of work will include projects that reflect Magpul’s roots in firearms and shooting sports, with a mix of action sports, humor, and general pop culture sensibility. The team creates a wide range of products, and this designer will be focused on providing illustration, animation, and graphics for videos and social media products, apparel, company websites, email newsletters, and assorted print materials.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Interact clearly and confidently with internal teams to determine their visual communication needs, present ideas, and take direction from start to finish.
• Design and create high quality full-performance animations and animated backdrops for media.
• Create sketches, artwork, and illustrations for a wide range of media.
• Produce apparel design graphics.
• Create representation graphics and custom typography, as well as color palette and photography.
• Produce web design graphics that can be reproduced by web developers.
• Translate or re-envision artistic works and vintage or historical images.
• Produce product graphics.
• Domestic travel up to 10%.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related area (graphic design, animation, multimedia design, fine art, film studies or CGI and 3D modeling) or an equivalent portfolio of work demonstrating expertise in the field of animation.
• Strong resume and portfolio that includes any of the following: logo design, apparel graphics design, animation, illustration, and print collateral.
• 3+ years of experience in after effects.
• Experience with motion graphics and 3D rendering capabilities a plus.
• Experience with military, firearms and shooting sports a plus.
• Marketing experience a plus, but not required.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Strong illustration skills, including expertise in digital pencil, inking, painting and vector artwork.
• Proven experience and advanced knowledge in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Strong typography skills and knowledge of contemporary design.

• This position reports to the Director of Marketing.

Grayman & Company – First Of Its Kind Tactical Tailoring House
Saturday, June 16th, 2018Earlier this week, Greyman & Company formally launched. Although, this small, ‘boutique’ tailoring house has already been creating high-end, bespoke suits for close protection officers, police detectives, and civilians who conceal carry for the past year.
In movies like ‘Kingsmen’ or ‘John Wick’ there’s a handy tailor standing buy to create a custom suit for the hero. Daniel Craig destroyed 40 bespoke Tom Ford suits shooting Quantum of Solace, but real life James Bonds have no such options. That was the motivation, with a goal to address a complete market absence of a high-end tailored suit that is optimized for tactical requirements; elegance and function.
This suit is a purpose-made solution for those who have spent months experimenting with ad-hoc alterations with their neighborhood seamstress, and resigned themselves to purchasing only cheap disposable suits, which can be discarded when damaged.
Instead, these are the real deal. Grayman & Company suits are all made-to-measure by traditional methods, with a very small staff of experienced tailors in Shanghai’s French Concession. These are not mass-manufactured fast-fashion suits and the process is extensive, including a fitting with a mailed trial garment, Naturally, they are available with a number of options for mobility and protection, such as an ‘action back’ shoulder gusset, cut-resistant sleeves, and covert pockets.

US Army Announces Intent To Award 3 Additional Sole Source Contracts For Sub Compact Weapons
Saturday, June 16th, 2018Last month, Project Manager – Soldier Weapons (PM-SW) queried industry about commercially available off-the-shelf (COTS) Sub Compact Weapons (SCW) In 9mm. The SCW is a highly concealable sub compact weapon system capable of engaging threat personnel with a high volume of lethal and accurate fires at close range with minimal collateral damage. An SCW includes but is not limited to functional weapon, magazines, cleaning kits, suppressors, specialized tool kit (if required), spare parts, slings, carrying cases, manuals.
Last week, they announced the intent to award firm fixed price sole source contracts to 10 companies. The weapons purchased will be evaluated to help inform current industry capabilities. What is learned will be used to create an SCW Capability Production Document for the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence, so that a solicitation may be crafted.
Currently, Personal Security Detail (PSD) made up primarily of Military Police, utilize pistols and M4 carbines. However, there is an operational need for additional concealability and lethality. Failure to provide the selected SCW for assessment and evaluation will leave PSD military personnel with a capability gap which can result in increased war fighter casualties and jeopardize the success of the U.S. mission.
