FN Announces Expansion Of FN 509 Series With Tactical Model

Thursday, July 19th, 2018

(McLean, VA – July 19, 2018) FN America, LLC announces today the expansion of the FN 509® Series of striker-fired pistols with the release of the FN 509 Tactical, an optics- and suppressor-ready 9mm pistol. The pistol features the company’s patent-pending Low-Profile Optics Mounting System™ that enables the platform to accept more than ten commercially-available miniature red dot (MRD) optics and remain adaptable to future optics releases with no requirement of direct milling of the slide.

“The FN 509 Tactical and the FN Low-Profile Optics Mounting System are another leap forward in the optics-ready pistol market,” said John Keppeler, vice president of sales and marketing for FN America, LLC. “FN set the trend for factory optics-ready pistols with the release of the FNP-45 Tactical nearly a decade ago and we’re set to do it again with this release. From barrel to base plate, the FN 509 Tactical really is the ultimate tactical pistol.”

The FN 509 Tactical, an extension of the FN 509 family, is based on FN’s submission pistol that the U.S. Army tested for its Modular Handgun Trials, but includes the significant improvements to the design that were implemented in the FN 509. Like the optics mounting system, FN’s team of engineers set out to develop the ultimate tactical pistol by addressing the market’s existing limitations.

As a result, the FN 509 Tactical features an FN-signature 4.5-inch, cold hammer-forged, stainless-steel barrel with target crown, ½” x 28 threads that accept the bulk of 9mm suppressors available and thread cap with integrated O-ring to prevent loosening during use. Lastly, the 24-round magazines, nearly identical in length to the pistol’s slide, maximize ammunition capacity without impacting carry convenience.

The optics mount accepts the majority of MRD’s on the market with no need to direct mill the slide, allowing for a low-profile mount and co-witness with the suppressor-height iron sights. The slide cap, for use when not shooting with an optic, has raised sight wings that protect iron sight alignment if the pistol is dropped or jostled, and provides a textured ramp for racking the slide against a belt loop, pant pocket or boot.

See the FN 509 Tactical at the company’s next stop on the FN Battle-Proven Tour at the Bojangles Southern 500 NASCAR Race in Darlington, South Carolina, Sept. 1-2, 2018. For more information about the FN 509 Tactical, please visit www.fnamerica.com.

5CC87E7B-2B46-41C5-93CD-BC70BB2A31F1

In the short time since the release of the original Generation 1 Mohawk Counterweight and Storage systems, the Mohawk has been a runaway hit with military, LE, and civilian night vision users alike. Rather than resting on our laurels however, we’ve continued to improve upon the original Mohawk design and listened to user feedback, and we are now proud to announce the launch of the Generation 2 Mohawk Counterweight/Storage system.

Designed by TNVC staff and incorporating operator feedback as well as our staff’s own battlefield experience, we designed the Mohawk Gen. 2 to be a highly functional, modular accessory for all modern warriors. It provides useful storage and retention of mission-essential gear and will attach to any currently-fielded ballistic or bump helmet with Velcro.

Manufactured in the U.S. by Spiritus Systems, the Gen. 2 Mohawk is 100% Berry compliant, and is now constructed out of a much lighter weight 500D Cordura Nylon without giving up any of the functionality or features of the 1000D Generation 1 design. The Gen. 2 Mohawk also feature fully color and pattern matched Velcro loop fastener, even in patterns such as Multicam Aridä, Multicam Blackä, and Multicam Tropicä to provide an uninterrupted surface pattern. We’ve also introduced the highly requested Ranger Green colorway to the Mohawk line, replacing the Olive Drab of the Gen. 1 design.

Like the Gen. 1 Mohawk, the Gen. 2 Mohawk comes in three models:

· Mohawk MK1—Counterweight pouch with four user-configurable lead weights to adjust the counterweight from 4 ounces to a full pound, as well as a removable battery storage tray, perfect for almost any NVG system from the AN/PVS-14 to dual-tube systems like the AN/PVS-15, TNV/Sentinel, DTNVG, and more

Mohawk MK3 Gen. 2

The Mohawk Gen. 2 offers all of the great features that made the original Mohawk a hit, including the vertically-oriented Mohawk strip, which is the centerpiece of the design, featuring a Velcro pile surface that accepts attachment of all currently issued / fielded signal strobe devices. The continuous pile strip allows for precise placement of the device on the rear or top of the helmet while providing enough room for attaching a blast sensor device. The adjustable shock cord net provides secondary retention for the devices while not limiting access to their controls. The shock cord net also provides excellent storage for a SOF-T tourniquet for those not using an IR strobe.

The Gen. 2 also features extended cable management loops for communications downleads, as well as a cord lock retainer to prevent the retention bungee from shifting or hanging loose when mounted. The Mohawk also features multiple loops for ready access to spare batteries, as well as secondary retention tie-down points for additional stability and security.

The Generation 2 Mohawks are on sale now at $79 for all versions.

We are also running a clearance sale on all remaining stocks of the Generation 1 Mohawk while supplies last, with MK1 Gen. 1s and MK2 Gen. 1s priced at $59, and $69 for the MK3 Gen. 1.

Persistent Systems, LLC To Launch New Auto-Tracking Antenna System For MPU5 Radio

Wednesday, July 18th, 2018

NEW YORK, N.Y. –  Persistent Systems, LLC (“Persistent”) announced today the introduction of the Auto-Tracking Antenna System, the new portable ground-to-air antenna that operates on the Wave Relay® mobile ad hoc network (MANET). Designed to incorporate aircraft into the MANET, the Auto-Tracking Antenna System is a complete, easy-to-assemble system, built to match the performance standards users have come to expect from Persistent.

“The Auto-Tracking Antenna System represents a major step towards achieving the vision of a truly networked battlefield,” said Herb Rubens, CEO of Persistent Systems. “The tracking antenna rotates to follow air assets, keeping them connected to the MANET. The air platforms orbit over our users on the ground, extending the MANET bubble and keeping soldiers connected to the enterprise. High throughput, low latency connectivity empowers the warfighter and decreases the dependence on SATCOM, which both reduces cost and increases network availability.”

Designed for ease-of-use, quick assembly, and portability, the Auto-Tracking Antenna System can be assembled and deployed in less than 15 minutes. The portable and lightweight design is completely collapsible, with the main five-foot parabolic dish breaking down into eight individual petals. The entire system fits into most standard-sized SUVs for easy transport and compact storage.

Mimicking the MPU5’s modular RF structure, the Auto-Tracking Antenna System has interchangeable S-Band, L-Band, and C-Band MIMO feeds that allow it to cover all frequencies where Persistent’s five radio modules operate. The antenna feeds twist-lock into place for quick and simple installation. An Automatic Heading System enables the tracking antenna to self-calibrate prior to operation for greater precision and less than one-degree pointing accuracy.

“Our customers require a system that is simple to put together, turn on, and works,” said Louis Sutherland, Vice President of Business Development at Persistent Systems, LLC. “They want to extend the Wave Relay® MANET out to aircraft and achieve high data-rates and reliable HD video transmission. The Auto-Tracking Antenna System truly delivers.” The large parabolic dish enables video streaming out to distances of 130 miles (over 200km) while maintaining high throughput and strong signal strength.

Combining the precisely aimed tracking system with the MPU5 radio and Wave Relay® MANET achieves optimal connectivity and reliable communications for manned and unmanned aircraft to communicate further than ever before.  The antenna is IP67 rated and built to endure harsh environments and weather, so it can be setup and left out for as long as the mission requires.

Persistent is now accepting orders for the Auto-Tracking Antenna System.
