DroneShield Protects NASCAR

Friday, April 13th, 2018

DroneShield Ltd (the “Company” or “DroneShield”), a leader in the emerging industry of drone security solutions, is pleased to announce that the Fort Worth Police Department has today confirmed that DroneShield’s products were utilised by the Texas State Department of Public Safety, the Denton County Sheriff, the Fort Worth Police Department, the Texas Forest Service, and the Texas Rangers for the protection of the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series at the Texas Motor Speedway.

The 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series is the 70th season of professional stock car racing in the United States, and is a top tier global racing event with substantial security requirements. Texas Motor Speedway is located in Fort Worth, Texas, and is one of the key tracks for the NASCAR events.

Monitoring of drone activity at high profile mass events has become an important component of event management, similar to perimeter access control or participant credentialing. DroneShield’s products DroneSentinel (drone detection), DroneSentry (integrated detect and defeat) and DroneGun (drone interception) were deployed in co-ordination with the Texas State Department of Public Safety, the Denton County Sheriff, the Fort Worth Police Department, the Texas Forest Service, and the Texas Rangers to determine where drones may be operating and intercept them accordingly.

Oleg Vornik, DroneShield’s Managing Director and CEO, said, “2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series is a high security profile event, designated code orange by the relevant US federal government agencies. We are proud to be able to assist a high-profile event like this. Every NASCAR event is complex, and the selection of DroneShield as the sole provider of counterdrone products for the aerial protection of NASCAR is a testament to the quality and capability of our product suite.

We also believe that this is significant for DroneShield in that this is the first known live operational use of all three of our key products – DroneSentinel, DroneSentry and DroneGun – by U.S. law enforcement.”

Officer Eric Skinner of Fort Worth Police said, “We selected DroneShield’s products for drone security at the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series following extensive considerations of the effectiveness, features and costs of the various alternatives. We are grateful to DroneShield for providing our numerous attendees and us as the organizers with peace of mind in the aerial domain.”

Thursday, April 12th, 2018

11 April, 2018

WFEL Ltd, a world leader in the supply of rapidly-deployable military bridging systems, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ian Anderton as Managing Director, succeeding Ian Wilson, who will shortly retire from the company.

Ian Anderton brings with him extensive experience of the defence industry, coupled with a strong background in operational improvement. For many years, Ian held senior management roles within BAE Systems, including Managing Director of the Munitions Division and COO roles within BAE’s Maritime Division, responsible for both submarines and warships.

Prior to his time at BAE, Ian was General Manager for Pirelli Power Cables and also spent some 12 years in a variety of leadership roles within ICI.

Ian said, “WFEL’s military bridging products have a worldwide reputation for quality and adaptability and I am delighted to be joining the organisation, which I see as a company with a tremendous heritage and with great potential for future growth. I am very much looking forward to helping the business further develop.

“I have already been impressed with the dedication, passion and depth of technical ability within the WFEL team and, together, we will focus on addressing the developing needs of our increasing worldwide customer base, to ensure we remain a world-leading supplier of military bridging equipment.”

In order to ensure a smooth transition, Ian Wilson will remain with the company until the summer. Commenting on his forthcoming retirement, Ian Wilson said, “After more than 30 years at WFEL, it is now time to hand over the reins and I am supremely confident of leaving the company in the very capable hands of Ian Anderton, who will play a vital role in driving the company forward through its next period of growth”.

Randy Garrison Named Director of Meopta USA Sport Optics

Thursday, April 12th, 2018

TAMPA, FL, April 11, 2018 – Meopta has named Randy Garrison Director of Meopta USA Sport Optics.  In this role, Garrison will lead day-to-day operations of the division including sales, marketing, advertising, product development and finance.

Garrison brings more than 23 years of experience in the sport optics business to his role.   Prior to joining Meopta, Garrison served as General Manager of Nikon Sport Optics.  He is also an avid outdoorsman and hunter.

“Randy’s in-depth knowledge of optics and extensive experience in the hunting and shooting industry make him the ideal choice to lead Meopta USA Sport Optics as we implement our aggressive new growth strategy,” said Gerald Rausnitz, CEO of Meopta. “We are extremely pleased to have him on our team.”

“Meopta is a true optical powerhouse, and I am excited and honored to join the company as they celebrate their 85th anniversary” said Garrison.  “Before accepting my position, I visited Meopta’s European headquarters where they employ 2,600 people and was impressed by the incredibly high-caliber equipment used to manufacture their optics.  They are unique in many ways from designing and manufacturing their own premium, high-performance optics – rather than outsourcing as most companies do – to the management structure of being an American-owned European brand.  Meopta is poised to significantly increase its market share here in the U.S., and they are providing me with all the tools necessary to make that happen.  This will ultimately benefit dealers and consumers alike.”

Danish Armed Forces Selects SIG P320 X-Carry

Thursday, April 12th, 2018

This is something we haven’t discussed. Late last year, the Danish Armed Forces adopted the SIG P320 X-Carry based on a tender overseen by the Ministry of Defense’s Food and Purchasing Board (FMI). The pistols are supplied by local vendor, CT Solution Aps.

According to the Danish Army, a total of four guns were tested and they were subjected to “all conceivable conditions” by users of the Special Operations, Military Police, Air Force and Army. The P320 was the best candidate in the four-week trial period. The test program was prepared by Hærens Kamp- og Ildstøttecenter (HKIC) in cooperation with FMI. of malfunction test, accuracy test, shooting in the dark and field field. The gun was also tested by experts from Direct Shooting Weapons (DSV) at HKIC. made drop test, penetration test and precision test.

The P320 will be supplied in two versions, a standard and a concealed carry version. These will replace all pistols in the Armed Forces, such as the M / 49 which would only carry 8 rounds compated to the 21 rounds of the P320.

Fielding has begun and the new pistol is expected to be full fielded to all units by the end of 2019 with new equipmemt training to be completed by the Commonwealth Defense Command (VFK).

This video from the Danish Defense’s YouTube Channel depicts the testing.

Thanks Keld!

Kit Badger Presents – NightFighter 101

Thursday, April 12th, 2018

In this post from Kit Badger, Ivan shares this video he created while attending the Viking Tactics NightFighter 101 course at SIG Academy.

He sent us this note:

This is the first shooting course review I have done, but I plan to do more. Shooting courses are one of those high ticket items between tuition, ammo, travel, etc. And I think by bringing some honest reviews of them I can hopefully save some people time and money by pointing them in the direction of the training / experience that they will get the most out of.

We’ve hit the highlights, check out the whole post at kitbadger.com/nightfighter-101-with-viking-tactics.
