Spiritus Systems to Exhibit at SHOT Show 2023 – Booth 30311

Thursday, January 12th, 2023

Spiritus Systems will be exhibiting at SHOT Show on January 17-20 at Booth 30311 on Level 2 of the Venetian Expo Center. Customers will be able to see unreleased products slotted for 2023 and interact with Spiritus Systems products at the booth’s new “Kit Builder” tables.

The Spiritus Systems tactical nylon product line is extremely modular and can be configured (and re-configured) into a wide variety of formats. For the first time, guests will be able to test build loadouts at a “Kit Builder” station with the entire product catalog at their disposal. Oftentimes, static product displays don’t tell the whole story, and getting hands-on time with the system is an effective way to understand what makes Spiritus’ equipment special.

Booth 30311 will also be featuring two special guests: STOIC Condoning and Disco 32. Make sure to ask about STOIC’s training programs and mobile app, as well as Disco 32’s comms equipment solutions.

Outdoor Retailer Parent Company, Emerald, Acquires Consumer Event Specialists, Lodestone Events

Thursday, January 12th, 2023

We are excited to announce the acquisition of consumer event specialists Lodestone Events, producers of the hugely successful Overland Expo series of adventure travel consumer shows. Lodestone is also Outdoor Retailer’s strategic partner on Outdoor Adventure X, Emerald’s first outdoor consumer event. Emerald and Lodestone share a mission to promote, encourage, and celebrate outdoor recreation.

All Lodestone employees will join the Emerald team, with Lodestone founders Lindsay Hubley and Jessica Kirchner joining Emerald’s management team and continuing to lead the Overland Expo series. In addition, they will oversee Outdoor Adventure X, debuting this June 17-18, 2023, at Snowbasin Resort in Huntsville, Utah.

Overland Expo is the world’s premier event series for adventure travel enthusiasts and stages four consumer shows annually, one each in Arizona, Oregon, Colorado, and Virginia. Last year, the events attracted nearly 80,000 consumer attendees, 1,300 exhibitors, and 250 journalists. In addition to a wide variety of camping and product demonstrations, attendees had access to 1,700 hours of classroom-style education, roundtable discussions and hands-on instruction across 1,380 sessions.

“Bringing the Overland Expo series of four premier events and Outdoor Adventure X together creates an expansive offering of consumer experiences not seen before in the outdoor community,” said Jeff Davis, group vice president, Emerald. “We look forward to the synergy these iconic gatherings bring to our collective events while creating even greater value for the entire outdoor ecosystem, from manufacturers to retailers and consumers. With the growing demand for outdoor experiences, we are excited to increase the opportunities for consumers to engage directly with their preferred products and brands, as well as discover new gear and opportunities to support their outdoor pursuits.”

“Overland is a growing market segment, recognized and valued by the outdoor industry at large. Overlanders are outdoor enthusiasts and explorers who outfit their vehicles for backcountry adventures, which often include hiking, camping, paddlesports, cycling, and climbing,” said Lindsay Hubley, Managing Partner of Lodestone Events.

“We’ve spent the last four years enhancing the attendee and client experience at Overland Expo events, developing the brand’s daily digital content offerings, and syndicating the event series into high-demand markets. Our team is more than just consumer event experts; they are passionate about gathering communities of enthusiasts to get trained, outfitted, and inspired for their outdoor adventures. In addition, we are inspired by Emerald’s commitment to connecting enthusiasts with the brands they love in live event environments. We look forward to continuing to enhance the client and attendee experience at events and applying the core business philosophies that have made Overland Expo successful in developing Emerald’s B2C properties,” Hubley added.

Overland Expo joins Emerald’s action and outdoor portfolio of events that includes Outdoor Retailer Winter, Outdoor Retailer Summer, The Summit by Outdoor Retailer, Outdoor Adventure X, Surf Expo, and Shop-Eat-Surf.

Special Tactics, AMC Airmen Spearhead Agile Combat Employment Concepts During Mission Generation Exercise

Thursday, January 12th, 2023

POPE FIELD, N.C. —

Special Tactics Airmen assigned to the 24th Special Operations Wing participated in a mission generation exercise on Jan. 5, 2023, alongside Air Mobility Command aircrews.

The 437th and 315th Airlift Wings launched 24 C-17 Globemaster IIIs from Joint Base Charleston to conduct the exercise and integrate with Air Force, Army, and Marine forces across five operating locations.

Several C-17s landed at Pope Army Airfield after the initial launch to establish a tactical operations center and conduct an airfield seizure with multiple special tactics teams.

“This exercise is about readiness and lethality,” said Maj. Zachary Barry, C-17 pilot and lead planner for the exercise. “We wanted to get as many aircraft as possible off the deck in a 48-hour timespan, to tell pacing threats that we can go anywhere, anytime.”

The airfield seizure took place on Fort Bragg’s Holland Landing Zone. There, Special Tactics teams secured the perimeter, established the airfield, and executed a follow-on clearance of nearby outposts.

Working alongside AMC aircrews allows Special Tactics teams to plan for operations in joint environments to maximize lethality as an air and joint force.

“Exercises like these require detailed planning but pay dividends when complete,” said a 24th Special Operations Wing Special Tactics officer. “Agile combat employment is paramount to our success as an Air Force, and incorporating Special Tactics teams into exercises like this benefits everyone involved.”

Combining these skillsets with mobility air forces like those from the 437th AW demonstrates the need to get ahead of the nation’s pacing challenges. Mission generation takes competencies from across the U.S. Air Force and connects them with capabilities from the joint force to maneuver past tomorrow’s challenges and enhance combat readiness.
