Saab Receives Order for Carl-Gustaf Ammunition to Sweden

Saab has received an order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) for deliveries of ammunition for the recoilless Carl-Gustaf® rifle. The order value is approximately SEK 3 billion and deliveries will take place during 2026-2030.

The order is placed within a framework agreement between Saab and FMV which allows purchases of Saab’s Ground Combat weapons Carl-Gustaf, AT4 and NLAW, including ammunition and equipment.

“We are proud to continue to deliver our world-leading solutions to Sweden and contribute to the Swedish defence capability. This order secures the Swedish Armed Forces supply of Carl-Gustaf ammunition and is a result of the weapon’s capacity and robustness,” says Micael Johansson, President and CEO of Saab.

The multipurpose Carl-Gustaf weapon has been in use by the Swedish Armed Forces since 1948. During year 2018, FMV signed a contract for deliveries of the latest iteration of the weapon; Carl-Gustaf M4. The wide range of ammunition available for Carl-Gustav further strengthens the system’s tactical flexibility, enabling faster engagement, increased hit probability and greater effectiveness for the soldiers.

Rampart Range Day 23 – Otis M249 Maintenance Tool

The M249 Military Maintenance Tool from Otis Defense is designed for removing carbon build up from the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon.

Made in the USA, it includes specialized scrapers that clean the interior and exterior of the Gas Block and Piston Cup, a pin punch and front site adjustment tool.

There is a version for the M240 as well.

Rampart Range Day 23 – Pathfinder from ARA

ARA’s Pathfinder is a seismic unattended ground sensor which was fielded to the US Army as the Expendable Unattended Ground Sensor System. Over 40,000 have been deployed.

This buried sensor can detect human foot traffic at 10 m and offroad vehicle traffic at 25 m. Additionally, it integrates with TAK and can report up to 10 km from the controller. The system uses a burst transmission to send alert reports and can be integrated with other sensors to slew to the area of interest.

The battery will last for up to six months based on 50 alerts per day. A version which is twice as large will last for up to two years. While the batteries can be replaced by ARA, Pathfinder is considered expendable. Each sensor weighs 11 oz.

The E-UGS 2000 model is not subject to ITAR export controls.

Rampart Range Day 23 – Griffon GTX Combat from AKU

AKU is an Italian boot manufacturer and this is the Griffon GTX Combat boot. Designed for the Danish armed forces, it integrates a GORE-TEX liner, soeed lacing and Cordura side panels.

It also integrates the Davos Ranger Sole which is made from antistatic nitrile rubber which is heat resistant in compliance with EN ISO 20345 clause 6.4.4. ( tested in accordance with the Iso 20344 clause 8.7 level 300 °C ) and POL Petrol Oil Lubricant resistant in compliance with Iso 20345 5.8.7 (tested in accordance to Iso 20344 clause 8.6.1).

Rampart Range Day 23 – Magripper

The Magripper by CroMag Corp is a magazine loader which accepts Mail-Std AR magazines and will load via 10 round stripper clips or via 8 cartridges placed in the chute. A simple push down loads them into the magazine.

Rampart Range Day 23 – BCB Illumination Markers

BCB International brought something so new it doesn’t even have a product name yet.

These illumination markers are meant as an alternative to disposable Chemlights. Available in Green, Red, Blue, White and IR, they can be turned on and off as needed and run for 36 hours. They’ve been tested down to -25 Deg C and the rep says you can get them wet.
