20130925-192130.jpg

I am a HUGE fan of the Salomon Quest 4D Boot and I’ve been wearing them for the past several years. They are comfortable right out of the box and are extremely lightweight. Looking at them you’d think they were these big clodhoppers but that isn’t the case at all. They offer the stability you’d expect from a design this class, but not the weight. Note: These run true to size.

Features
-Light-weight, breathable, abrasion resistantmaterial allows for breathability & comfort.
-Weatherproof Nubuck LeatherHigh-Cut Profile for increased ankle support, stability & protection.
-Material Bridge connects tongue to the uppereliminating debris from entering the shoe.

Get The Latest WL Gore Technology From ADS

Friday, September 20th, 2013

ADS Inc has garments featuring three great new technologies from WL Gore.

20130920-082037.jpg

GORE® PYRAD® HARD SHELL

I’ve mentioned WL Gore’s Pyrad technology before which transforms their waterproof breathable fabric by adding FR properties. It’s fantastic that the process retains the base fabric’s inherent characteristics.

20130920-083000.jpg
Features & Benefits:
-Protection Against Heat and Flame
-Increased Thermal Stability
-FR Properties Built Into Laminate Structure
-Maintains Physical Integrity
-Designed with GORE-TEX® Fabric – Protects Wearer in Rain, Snow, and Windy Conditions
-Durable Nylon Face Textile
-Comfortable Performance

Below is a video of a Pyrad garment compared to a Gen III ECWCS Level 6 garment during a Pyroman test.

GORE® LIGHTWEIGHT LOFT SYSTEM

This was adopted by USSOCOM as Level 3B of their Protective Combat Uniform and is constructed using a combination of a Gore shell fabric and PrimaLoft Fusion insulation. I’ve tried it out and yes, it’s comfortable and insulates quite well but the thing that I really like is that you can quickly stuff it into a pack despite the membrane.

20130920-084204.jpg

Features & Benefits:
Air Permeable
Moisture Vapor Permeable
Water Resistant
Durably Windproof

GORE® LIGHT & FAST GORE-TEX® JACKET SYSTEM

I had a chance to briefly check out this final piece last week at DSEi in the UK. It’s the thinnest Gore membrane I’ve run across and is aptly named. Think of it as taking performance fabrics meant for conventional athletes and applying it to the military athlete.

20130920-085312.jpg

Features & Benefits:
Durable, Waterproof and Windproof
Highly Breathable with Improved Next-to-Skin Comfort
Improved Utility for Enhanced Mission Effectiveness
Engineered for Highly Aerobic Activities

All of these products are available for unit and agency purchase through www.adsinc.com/wl-gore. Also, look for them next week with Gore Military at Modern Day Marine.

ADS Inc – Tactical Communications: C4ISR Expanding the Grid

Thursday, September 5th, 2013

20130904-183127.jpg

We helped put some content together for the latest volume of the ADS Tactical Catalog. In addition to a section of tactical lighting we also prepared some background on C4ISR (Yes, I know that the term C5ISR is coming into vogue but that extra “C” really doesn’t add any value to the acronym).

20130904-183203.jpg

The communications technology available to our warfighers has made huge advances in recent years. Today’s C4ISR systems offer an unprecedented level of tactical communications, providing boots on the ground access to a global information grid of shared data and information sources. As with all technology, C4ISR systems are constantly evolving in complexity to support these new capabilities. Now, more than ever, it is important to have a thorough understanding of the communications functions required to effectively complete your mission, narrow down the best available solutions, and identify the most efficient way to procure them – whether by upgrading your existing equipment with accessories or transitioning over to a completely new system.

ADS Tactical Lighting

We collaborated with ADS to create an infographic on tactical lighting for Volume 10 of their tactical catalog. Order yours to see the entire graphic.

Tactical-Lighting-Diagram

The goal was to classify tactical lighting into basic applications and to introduce readers to common terminology and attributes to use as selection factors.

lighting-icons_670x53

Applications:

Tactical lighting is available in several different packages including handheld, head or helmet mounted, and weapon mounted. There are also modular light packages engineered for crossover use on helmets or MOLLE vests as well as weapon mounted configurations. Light performance will differ based on these various package options.

Attributes:

From lamp and bulb type, to battery efficiency, lenses, and reflectivity, engineers are continuously improving the various components and attributes of tactical lighting. When selecting a light, it is best to define your requirements up front. First, consider application and the associated type of lights available, then focus on the attributes that differentiate the models in that segment.

DRIFIRE’s NAVAIR Approved Flightsuits Available Through ADS inc

Tuesday, August 20th, 2013

DRIFIRE offers a two-piece flightsuit and combat shirt that are approved for use by NAVAIR. Designed to work together, these FR, performance garments are well suited to ground as well as air operations. I think LE organizations who face flame threats should check these out.

20130819-191138.jpg

Like I said, these are performance FR garments. In addition to their FR properties, they are also anti-microbial and moisture wicking. As far as flight clothing go, the DRIFIRE garments fuse combat and flying features making them great options for Multi-seat aircraft such as cargo and rotary wing. Both garments are offered in Khaki as well as Sage.

DRIFIRE FR garments are available for unit and agency orders through www.adsinc.com/drifire.
