SIG SAUER Modular Handgun System Receives Full-Material Release from US Army

Tuesday, July 9th, 2019

NEWINGTON, N.H., (July 9, 2019) – SIG SAUER, Inc. in conjunction with Winchester Ammunition, is proud to announce the SIG SAUER Modular Handgun System (MHS) has officially received notification of Full-Material Release (FMR) from the U.S. Army Program Executive Office Soldier, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ. MHS is collectively comprised of the SIG SAUER M17 Full-Size, and M18 Compact handguns, and Winchester Ammunition M1152 Ball, M1153 Special Purpose, and M1156 Drilled Dummy Inert.

Full-Material Release is a significant milestone for the MHS program and is the official determination that the U.S. Army has rigorously tested and evaluated the M17 and M18 handguns, and associated ammunition, to determine it as safe for use when operated within its stated parameters. The official FMR notification received by SIG SAUER on June 27, 2019 states that MHS has been fully tested, meets all operational performance requirements, and is logistically supportable within the environment it is intended to operate.

Ron Cohen, President & CEO, SIG SAUER, Inc. began, “the Army’s announcement of Full Material Release is the final stamp of approval for the MHS Program, and a true testament to the successful collaboration of the U.S. Army, SIG SAUER, and Winchester Ammunition to deliver the highest quality MHS program to our soldiers in the field. The FMR notification really highlights the safety and quality of the M17 and M18 handguns, and the success of the MHS program in its entirety.”

To date, over 59,000 Modular Handguns have been delivered by SIG SAUER, and over 44,000,000 rounds of ammunition delivered by Winchester Ammunition to the Government for MHS; in the next 5-7 years an additional 350,000 handguns and 100,000,000 rounds of ammunition are scheduled for delivery.

“We are enthused by this announcement, and honored to have all the branches of the U.S. Military participating in the MHS program. These are both important and significant steps to ensuring that MHS, the M17 and M18 handguns, and Winchester Ammunition will serve the U.S. Military well into the future,” concluded Cohen.

The M17 and M18 handguns are 9mm, striker-fired handguns featuring coyote-tan PVD coated stainless steel slides with black controls and utilize both 17-round and 21-round magazines. The handguns are equipped with SIGLITE front night sights, removable night sight rear plates, and manual safeties.

Team Wendy Releases Next Generation Carbon Helmet

Monday, July 8th, 2019

Canadian Department of National Defence Selects EXFIL® Carbon in Recent Tender

Cleveland-based Team Wendy® announced the release of key updates to its EXFIL® Carbon helmet today, including an enhanced Zorbium® foam liner system and updated sizing options. These updates allowed the helmet to fulfill the necessary requirements sought by the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) in its tendering process, and Team Wendy won the contract with the department.

The Canadian DND will issue the EXFIL Carbon helmet over a five-year period to operators including the DND Naval Boarding Parties and other units within DND, as well as the Royal Canadian Mounted Police tactical teams and other provincial and municipal teams. The tender was secured by 911 Supply, an authorized Team Wendy dealer in Canada.

“Given our vast experience in the design and development of helmet systems, we understand how critical the liner system is to maximize impact performance while maintaining comfort, allowing the operator to wear the helmet for long periods of time without notice,” said Jose Rizo-Patron, CEO of Team Wendy. “We were excited to revisit the EXFIL Carbon’s liner offerings to improve comfort and ease of installation while increasing its protection. We’re thrilled that this updated offering was preferred by the Canadian DND and are honored to help protect our neighbors and allies to the north.”

The following improvements will be incorporated in all EXFIL Carbons sold moving forward:

• A newly designed Zorbium foam liner that exceeds ACH Blunt Impact requirements per AR/PD10-02, 16 Dec 13, transmitting less than half the required G force across multiple impacts in all environmental conditions. Replacing the helmet’s previous liner options, the system comes standard with three impact liner pieces and eight adjustable comfort pads for optimal fit and comfort.

• An additional shell size option provides a broader fit range and increased comfort.

• A full mohawk Velcro® patch along the crown of the helmet, similar to that on the EXFIL Ballistic and EXFIL Ballistic SL, allows the user more room to mount accessories.

In addition to exceeding ACH Blunt Impact requirements, the EXFIL Carbon also exceeds the shock absorption requirements of BS EN 1385:2012 (whitewater).

The bump helmet is offered in three colors (black, coyote brown and MultiCam®) and two sizes for ease of procurement: size one (M/L) and size two (XL). The recent improvements made to the helmet will not affect its price; it continues to retail at $585.87.

The EXFIL Carbon is available for purchase on TeamWendy.com and through authorized Team Wendy dealers. Agencies in Canada interested in purchasing this helmet can contact 911 Supply for options on approved ordering channels.

ZEV Technologies releases the O.Z-9 Modular Build Kit

Monday, July 8th, 2019

The patent-pending O.Z-9 internal steel receiver is now available individually as the O.Z-9 Modular Build Kit (MBK).

The O.Z-9 Modular Build Kit (MBK) offers complete customization to build your O.Z-9 from the ground up. Start your custom build by choosing between a Black DLC or Titanium Gray O.Z-9 steel receiver.

“This is a big deal for the consumer who already owns a custom ZEV firearm or the necessary compatible ZEV components that go into an O.Z-9. It’s also the perfect starting point for the consumer that wants to build an O.Z-9 in the exact configuration they want. The steel receiver is the serialized component, and the foundation of the O.Z-9, so once you have that, the rest is like a set of Lego building blocks, but with ZEV parts.”, explained ZEV’s V.P. of Marketing, Dave Roberts.

Using compatible ZEV components, select the ZEV slide, ZEV barrel, ZEV trigger, ZEV O.Z-9 grip, and ZEV O.Z-9 magwell to build out the O.Z-9 that best fits your needs. Whether it’s for duty, concealed carry, competition, or a weekend range gun, the MBK is the place to start.

The O.Z-9 internal steel receiver, machined from a single block of 17-4 stainless steel billet, reduces the flex associated with polymer frames, has an integrated locking block and longer slide rails which provide more contact with the slide. Less felt recoil, less muzzle flip, faster follow up shots, and improved accuracy is the result.

In addition to an O.Z-9 Steel Receiver in either color, each O.Z-9 MBK includes the following necessary components to get your build started:

ZEV O.Z-9 Slide Lock Lever and Spring
ZEV O.Z-9 Trigger Pin
ZEV O.Z-9 Ejector Housing Pin
ZEV Enhanced Extractor
Extended Slide Release Lever
