Arc’teryx LEAF – What’s New For 2019

Wednesday, January 9th, 2019

Year after year, Arc’teryx LEAF continues to introduce some of the most innovative specialized clothing and equipment on the market and 2019 is no exception.

We’ve already unveiled the rebooted Atom LT Gen 2 lineup with its added features and new materials resulting in improved air permeability. In addition to Jacket, Hoody and Pant, LEAF also added a Vest.

Arc’teryx designers have added a new Softshell fabric option (6.5 oz Durastretch Tweave) for the popular xFunctional Pant, creating the xFunctional SV. At the same time, they updated the fit for both the AR and new SV versions. Look for the SV in Black and Rawhide colors.

Additionally, three products have been brought over from the outdoor product line, the AR-395A Harness as well as the Aptin Short and Cormac T-shirt.

The harness is all Black for LEAF applications.

For years small units and agencies have worn Arc’teryx garments for physical fitness training. Bringing these two items into the line makes it easier for LEAF customers to add this capability to their kit bag.

Look for our detailed coverage of the 2019 Arc’teryx LEAF line during SHOT Show. However, for those of you who can’t wait, these items are available now at leaf.arcteryx.com as well as from your favorite LEAF dealer.

SIG SAUER Releases Pivoting Contour Brace

Wednesday, January 9th, 2019

NEWINGTON, N.H., (January 9, 2019) – SIG SAUER, Inc. today released the SIG SAUER Pivoting Contour Brace (PCB) accessory to be included with variants of the SIG MCX and SIG MPX series rifles, and available for purchase separately as an accessory.

The new SIG SAUER PCB has a sturdy I-Beam design and features a 360-degree pivoting arm articulation, 1913 rail mounting interface, and folds flat for easy storage leaving the controls easily accessible. The brace is available in black and coyote tan.

“This new pivoting contour brace has been reengineered to increase functionality” said Tom Taylor, Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President, Commercial Sales, “The minimalist design of the brace makes it lightweight, and by design there are more points of contact between the brace and the user increasing control for better accuracy, while the 360-degree pivoting arm only enhances the overall user-friendliness of the brace to enhance the shooting experience.”

Recently the new SIG SAUER PCB Brace was featured at the Honored American Veterans Afield (HAVA) National Family Day Learn to Shoot Again event at San Antonio Police Academy in San Antonio, Texas. Rick Cicero, Manager and Lead Instructor for the HAVA Learn to Shoot Again Program commented, “with the SIG SAUER Pivoting Contour Brace I was able to easily move through the stages of a challenging course of fire easily alternating the angle of my SIG MCX and adjusting for target position and barrier placement.”

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the SIG SAUER PCB will be donated to the HAVA Learn to Shoot Again program.

Hands On – SIG MPX Copperhead

Monday, January 7th, 2019

Although it came first to market, the SIG MPX has screamed for an ultra compact treatment like its big brother, the MCX Rattler. And that’s just what SIG did when they created the MPX Copperhead.

I got the chance to take a full auto version of this 9mm to the range last summer. It boasts a 3.5″ barrel within a one-piece upper receiver and an overall length of 14.5″ in its pistol configuration with new proprietary collapsible SIG stabilizing brace. The Copperhead in the photos is fitted with their standard collapsible stock. Additionally, the Copperhead will be offered in a Tan cerakote.
