For years the industry has struggled with standard pressure switches functionality and modularity. TAPS changes the way with think of pressure switches, and it now becomes a true component of a light and laser. No longer will the operator struggle to attach and maintain their pressure switch to a rail system, no longer will the operator wish he could power a white light and visible laser with one button. TAPS breaks through these long standing barrier’s with a paradigm shift to enable a pressure switch to do what it’s supposed to do; a complete one point command and control system for all weapon-mounted electronics.

TAPS will be offered in 2 versions, TAPS PRO and TAPS.

TAPS PRO will be a full programmable switch that mounts directly to any industry standard rail, including M1913 Picatinny, KEYMOD, M-LOK and will run off a single CR2032 battery for over 3000 “device-activating hours” (battery will last for years under normal operation tempo). The switch will operate in failsafe mode if the battery dies or is not present (this means it will work as a standard pressure switch until battery is replaced – user preferences will remain programmed). It features two onboard buttons and two accessory leads. TAPS comes standard with a Surefire Light lead and MIL-Standard / Crane Laser Lead that fits NATO standard lasers from Insight Technology, Steiner, B.E. Meyers, and others.

TAPS (non-programmable) mounts directly to any industry standard rail, including M1913 Picatinny, KEYMOD, and M-LOK. No third party rail adapters are needed, keeping the weapon lighter and sleeker. It features two onboard buttons and two accessory leads. During our SHOT Show coverage we told you about SOTECH’s Recce Vest based on the item issued to the British SAS for decades and officially known as the Pack, Lightweight Combat. Now, their modernized version is available for order.

SOTECH presents a high ride vest that rides above gun belts / LBE Harnesses and over plate carriers.
The Recce Vest was designed as a lightweight vest with large pocket capacity to be folded up in your pocket or pack. While this is ideal for recce applications, it is also well suited for SERE, narcotics eradication, motor bike use, and numerous other uses.

This vest has some improvements over the UK models with flap or shock cord retention on the two smaller front pouches – you can engage the flap, or fold it away to use just the shock cord. We also added a cinchable storm hood to the back pack for retention. The vest is made of 500D Cordura for lightweight durability. SureFire Field Notes – Scott Reitz

SureFire Field Notes is a multi-segment informational video series with tips and techniques from subject matter experts of all backgrounds. In this episode, Scott Reitz of ITTS discusses the jungle trail.

Scott Reitz is a 30 year veteran of the Los Angeles Police department. Scott received his Bachelors degree from the University of New Mexico and shortly thereafter joined the ranks of the Los Angeles Police Department. During his first few years, he worked both Wilshire and Van Nuys divisions as a heroin expert and a member of the Special Problems Unit. He was accepted into the elite Metropolitan Division a few years later and remained there for the duration of his career. Shortly after his acceptance into Metro he advanced into ‘D’ platoon (SWAT). He remained there for ten years until he was upgraded as the primary firearms and tactics instructor for the whole of Metro division and all LAPD advanced in-service firearms/tactics training. He was additionally in charge of advanced training for specialized units such as gangs, LAFD arson, anti-terrorist division, S.I.S., Internal Affairs follow teams as well as all 19 geographical divisions among others. Scott was an adjunct instructor for the U.S. Department of Energy’s SRT III program and one of the founders of the US Marine Corps SOTG program in Camp Pendleton, California. He has trained and worked with U.S. Army Delta, Naval Special Warfare’s Team 6 and Air Task Force assets that support special operations. He is also one of a very few instructors who is a Federal and Superior Court qualified expert in deadly force, training, safety and police tactics. He has testified and consulted in the defense of police, F.B.I., U.S. Secret Service, and B.A.T.F. as well as many high profile cases.
