For those of you that missed SHOT, here is the Crye Precision catalog in all its glory.

Crye Precision 2010 Catalog

Please do not contact Crye over and over asking when these products will be available. The more you harass them, the more you gum up the works. They are all expected to hit the market at various points over the course of this year. Special thanks to Ash from MightyTactical.com for getting this together.

Crye Precision Jumpable Plate Carrier

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

The new Crye Jumpable Plate Carrier weighs an astounding one pound. I probably wouldn’t need to tell you anything except Crye and one pound and that would have you but there’s more.

The JPC is all about business and Crye has taken out every non-essential ounce they could find. But that doesn’t mean that it isn’t comfortable. Lined with two way stretch, the JPC also features the new Patent Pending MOLLE Lite designed to accommodate PALS equipped patches which span across open space like on the sides of a plate carrier.

Crye Changes Everything

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

What the didn’t change, they added. I was duly impressed walking into the Crye Precision booth at this year’s SHOT Show. They have completely revamped their clothing line, making improvements to mainstays as well as adding new garments. The G3 Combat Shirt and Pants have received some streamlining and both Combat as well as Field Pants will feature the same pocket configurations. Another cool new feature is that the kneepad pockets have a recessed flap that can be pulled up and close off the kneepad pocket when not needed.

The Field Shell is a softshell jacket with angles pit zips that go around the circumference of a shoulder in much the same manner as a raglan sleeve. This is to accommodate those wearing armor systems. To complement the Field Shell they have developed the All weather Trousers and Combat Shirt. The All Weather Trousers are made from softshell material and the All Weather Combat Shirt is heavier weight than its sibling. Additionally, they are introducing the Wind Liner, a lightweight wind shirt that can be balled up and carried in your kit. Crye also revamped their kneepad, improving both the performance and comfort.

Additionally, they now offer three armor carriers; the CAGE, CAGE Plate Carrier and Jumpable Plate Carrier.
The JPC weighs an astonishing one pound! To help reduce weight Crye developed a skeletal MOLLE system called Airlite MOLLE and integrated new materials into the design.

Air Frame Helmet

In addition to armor, Crye has also introduced their new helmet. A two piece design, the Air Frame helmet is designed to stop frag The Air Frame features a chin strap and new rail system from Ops-Core as well as pads from Team Wendy. The two piece design allows new shapes to be molded and integrated resulting in increased nape coverage. Crye is also producing Chops, a facial protection applique as well as Ears which are armored add ons for the ear area.

And last but hardly least, Crye has begun to delve into injection molding with the Gun Clip. It is holster-like but Caleb Crye deigns to call it one. Rather, he referred to it as a pistol holder. With this technology, the days of the pull out and puch forward draw stroke are over. The weapon is retained by snapping into place. Due to their proprietary MOLLE compatible mounting solution, this allows you to present the pistol straight forward to the target when chest mounted. Additionally, it completely eliminates the exaggerated draw stroke for those using suppressed weapons. To draw, you simply flick the snap open with your thumb and pop the weapon from the Gun Clip.

I was told that everything would be available this year.

Crye CAGE Plate Carrier

Monday, January 4th, 2010

Military Morons has premiered an extensive review of the Crye Precision CAGE (Crye Assault GEar) Plate Carrier (CPC). Designed as a lightweight alternative to the full CAGE Armor Chassis, the new CPC consists of Front plate bag/carrier, Rear plate bag, left/right flank/torso, and left/right shoulder pieces. The plate bags are designed to accommodate the SAPI plate. Additionally, it is still a cut away system and there are zip-on/off panels for the rear of the carrier.

Additionally, the CPC incorporates Crye’s Proprietary Structural Kinetic Support System (StKSS) to transfer the load to the hips utilizing stays attached to the new unarmored low-profile belt.

The CPC (as well as a few other surprises) will be on display at Crye Precision’s booth at SHOW Show. Until then be sure to go to Military Morons and check it out. You can tell by the level of detail that he really put a lot into this.

SKD Tactical Releases PIG Plate Carrier

Thursday, December 24th, 2009

The much anticipated PIG Plate Carrier has finally arrived, and SKD Tactical is currently taking pre-orders for the first production run due early spring 2010. Manufactured in the USA for Patrol Incident Gear by Eagle Industries, the PIG PC was conceived with input from law enforcement and military special operations personnel, that culminated in a design that is unlike any other plate carrier on the market today.

SKD Tactical's New PIG Plate Carrier

The PIG PC features an industry first, the adjustable plate stirrup that keeps the plate at the top of the carrier and centered, regardless of plate size (fits SAPI S-XL). Additionally, lowering the shoulder strap attachment point raises the plate placement on the upper thoracic cavity, an often overlooked achilles heel on most traditional plate carriers. They have also taken steps to answer the common complaint that carriers are uncomfortable by adding continuous padding on the rear carrier and shoulder straps. The rear padding will soon see a debut on a new Eagle pack design as well. Hybrid 500D Cordura and Nylon Pack Cloth construction reduces the weight to a minimum. Additionally, SKD has prepared an Ala Carte options system that allows users to order only the features they need.

SKD Tactical is offering a pre-order discount for a limited number of customers, on a first come first serve basis. For more information, visit www.skdtac.com.

Kiwis Update Kit

Saturday, December 19th, 2009

We have been receiving reports regularly from our readers that the New Zealand Army is updating its individual equipment but the Army itself issued a great poster detailing the features of the new Soldier Survivability Gear.

According to Chief of the Army MAJ GEN Rhys Jones, “There are currently 790 New Zealand Defence Force personnel deployed on 14 operations, UN missions and defence exercises in 10 countries around the world.” The NZ Army began issuing the equipment to these troops in October and much of it would be familiar to Soldier Systems Daily readers. In addition to the SOCOM issued BAE RBAV and BPG Serpa holster, the Kiwis are also receiving the Camelbak Trizip based on a Mystery Ranch design. Additionally, they are being issued Camelbak gloves, Streamlight Sidewinder lights, ESS ballistic glasses, Revision ballistic goggles, Garmin GPS. The only item that you would have trouble finding here in the US is the Rabintex helmet.

New Zealand Army - Equipped to Win

•The new advanced combat helmet is 0.5kg lighter than its predecessor, has an internal mounting system that makes it more comfortable to wear and allows greater functionality with ballistic glasses or communications equipment.
•The improved body armour (IBA) provides enhanced ballistic and fragmentation protection and is now sized to the individual rather than one-size-fits-all. The IBA also includes side, groin and bicep protection should it be required by the wearer and has a modular webbing system so soldiers can customise the pouches they attach directly to their webbing.
•The IBA is fully modular and also has a quick release system to enable the user or another person to discard the vest quickly if the user is injured or submerged in water.
•The improved patrol pack is ergonomic in design, has an adjustable, removable back comforter and is adjustable for height.
•The Revision Desert Locust ballistic goggles were selected as they offered the greatest durability and functionality. These protect the wearer against blast fragmentation and other non-ballistic threats whilst also protecting the eyes from wind, sand, dirt and snow.
•New individual general purpose torch: The Sidewinder stood out as the individual torch choice as it is small, light-weight and has excellent functionality. It provides four types of light: red, blue, white and Infra-red. It has four levels of brightness on each including a strobe function. The torch also comes with a helmet mount so that it allows a hands-free operation. With the IR function it significantly improves the local area illumination when used with an night vision goggles.
•Improved individual GPS: The Garmin 60cX GPS is a unit that provides a cheap but very functional GPS. The Garmin provides colour mapping and new maps can be downloaded via the internet as required. The users found it easy to operate and accurate as an individual navigation aid for tactical commanders.
