Warning Order – Limited Edition DEFCON x LBT Maritime VANS & SWAG

Tuesday, April 30th, 2019

DEFCON has done it again, working with VANS’ new advanced sole CumfyCush technology and LBT’s MAS Grey to introduce limited edition VANS shoes along with T-shirts and hoodies.

Based on the VANS ComfyCush Old Skool and Skate Hi, the shoes are designed for wear on the job. However, as in past releases, these are limited addition. With uppers made from MAS Grey colored Cordura, developed by LBT, these share the same color as the SOF issue Maritime Assault Suit.

They will be available in low and high top versions.

The new ComfyCush construction makes them ultra lightweight and like the name says, comfortable. You see, even though the soles retain the classic VANS look, they are made from a soft foam.

These are prototype Maritime (VBSS / GOPLAT) shoes. For instance, they put drain holes on the bottom and side to assist with drainage. This is the rapid prototype concept and not the fully developed version purpose build for maritime needs. This is a first for VANS footwear with more to come hopefully in the near future.

As you can see, they’ll fit in a fin’s foot pocket.

The tongue of the Hi model also features loop fabric to accept patches like the DEFCON lightning bolt. The low has a lightning bolt directly embroidered to the tongue.

The T-shirts are available in White, Grey and Black.

Below, you can see the unique markings, denoting the collaboration with LBT.

The hoodies are available in Grey and Black.

Here are some closeups of the graphics.

The items will be available Wednesday, May 1 at 0900 PDT, exclusively from DEFCONGROUP.com.

The upcoming Firewalker Boot Sock by FITS is not only FR, but also Berry compliant. Verified to NFPA 1971, 2018 Edition Structural and Proximity Firefighting Standard, it is made from 69% Merino Wool, 24% Nylon, 4% Polyester and 3% Lycra® Spandex. The Merino content offers inherent FR, moisture and odor control. The Firewalker also incorporates FITS’ proprietary features; Heel Lock® provides heel security that limits the chances of a blister when combined with a properly fit boot and their Dynamic Toe Cup® limits the amount of material in toe box to prevent bunching in a critical area of the foot.

Bridgedale Introduces First Waterproof Sock Range

Tuesday, April 9th, 2019

Britain’s number one outdoor performance sock brand, Bridgedale, is introducing its first 100% waterproof sock range called Storm this spring.

Developed to provide wet weather protection and day long comfort, it combines Bridgedale’s unique FusionTech™ with a HydroTech™ Waterproof, Breathable and Windproof membrane.  The new Storm range has been designed and tested to perform to the highest standards in the wettest conditions when hiking, biking or running.

Continuing to build on Bridgedale’s century-long sock making heritage, the 100% Waterproof Storm sock guarantees foot protection and comfort on the wettest trails. Even though Bridgedale has been keeping feet warm, dry and protected for many years, providing a good level of water resistance, this is the brand’s first 100% Waterproof sock range.

Using the latest production processes, the Storm sock combines advanced yarn technology with progressive design to ensure the waterproof, extremely breathable and windproof Storm sock never lets down any outdoor enthusiast.

Inner Sock

The next-to-the-skin inner sock, made from up to 60% Merino Wool, that’s renowned for its anti-bacterial and anti-odour properties, is combined with wicking synthetic fibres to deliver a stable temperature and move moisture from the skin’s surface. The lining features a terry loop underfoot cushion that extends around both the toes and over the heel to ensure comfortable feet in wet conditions.

HydroTech™ membrane

The three-layer construction features at its core, a Waterproof, Breathable, high stretch and Windproof HydroTech™ permeable membrane, which when laminated to the inner and outer layers creates a 100% Waterproof stretchable and good fitting sock.

Bridgedale is confident that, after a three-year rigorous testing period, it can confidently guarantee the minimum specifications for the HydroTech™ membrane*:

Membrane breathability: moisture permeability >12,000mg/m*m/24h

Membrane waterproofness: Hydrostatic head >8,000mm

Outer Sock

The Nylon outer protects the waterproof sock against abrasion from footwear. LYCRA® provides excellent stretch to ensure the sock is easy to pull on and off and guaranteeing a snug, comfortable, high performance fit and a sock that won’t fall down during activities.  As well as LYCRA® running through the inner and outer sock, it is also added around the arch of the foot to keep the sock firmly in position, reducing any bunching or rucking inside the shoe or boot that could cause irritation.

The Storm sock is available in three lengths:

Ankle: fitting just above ankle bone, this length is perfect for running or walking in wet conditions

Boot: designed to fit around the middle of the calf, this length keeps the lower leg warm and dry and can be paired with waterproof trousers or gaiters to prevent water ingress at the top. Boot length is ideal for mountaineering, hillwalking and mountain biking.

Knee: giving full lower leg coverage and protection, this maximum length is perfect for wading through streams or rivers or running or riding in shorts when the weather turns colder.

The three weights available are:

Lightweight

Close fitting and designed for activities where maximum breathability and minimum insulation is required.  Perfect for warmer weather, high octane activities such as mountain biking and trail running. Pair with Bridgedale’s Coolmax Liner to keep feet fresher for longer.

Midweight

With a terry cushioned footbed and ankle, this sock is idea for outdoor activities where a good balance of warmth and breathability is required, from biking and running to hiking and mountaineering

Heavyweight

This sock has full terry cushioning throughout and is perfect for cold weather activities such as winter walking, hiking and biking.  Pair with Bridgedale’s Thermal Liner for more extreme cold weather activities such as winter mountaineering and multi-day expeditions.

Patagonia x Danner River Salt Wading Boots Now Available

Friday, March 29th, 2019

We have you a sneak peek of these Made in USA boots by Danner for Patagonia, during Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 18. And now, right on time, they’re available.

They are made from full-grain leather combined with 1000D nylon and a Vibram Megagrip sole. The leather is treated with a PFC-free saline solution tanning process for improved resistance to breakdown, even in salt water.

Since there are designed to be worn on both land and in water, there are perforated drains on both sides of the boot upper which is coincidentally free from unnecessary foams and backers.

In the photo, you can also see the Aluminum Bar sole model. In all, there are four versions, including felt and sticky rubber sole variants.

The color is Feather Grey. Sizes 5-14.

IWA 19 – Winter Overboot by 5.45 Design

Friday, March 8th, 2019

5.45 Design is a Russian company specializing in soldier systems. Not only do they manufacture clothing, helmets and armor, they also make small arms components. Everything I looked at was made in Russia from brand name materials and not only exhibited high quality, but were also well thought out.

At IWA they concentrated on clothing and helmets, but I wanted to share something that isn’t readily available from other manufacturers; their winter overboot. Insulated with Primaloft, it will take a wearer in a standard boot down to -10 deg C.

The step-in design extends up to the knee.

It features two shock cords at the ankle and one at the top for fit adjustment.

A zipper at the rear makes donning and doffing a simple affair.

On the sole is non slip material.
