TrueTimber Camo to Serve as Primary Sponsor on Jack Wood’s No. 51 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Ride at Talladega

Monday, October 9th, 2023

INMAN, S.C. – TrueTimber is proud to announce a partnership with Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) naming TrueTimber as the primary sponsor on Jack Wood’s No. 51 Silverado for Saturday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Talladega Superspeedway. Wood’s Chevrolet will also carry associate sponsorship from Bass Pro Shops, North America’s premier outdoor and conservation company, and Zariz, a fast-growing intermodal drayage company specializing in transporting containers form the ports, for the event.

“We are really excited to partner with KBM and Jack for this race,” said TrueTimber CEO Rusty Sellars. “Talladega is such an iconic track, and it will be awesome to see the number 51 truck sporting TrueTimber camo. We had Jack over to the warehouse last week and it was great to meet and spend some time with him to show him all about what we do here at TrueTimber. We wish him and the entire KBM team the best of luck this weekend.”

Saturday will mark Wood’s 11th Truck Series start of his debut season with KBM. The California native has qualified inside the top 10 in half of his starts in 2023 and has produced two top-10 finishes, include a career-best ninth place result at Texas Motor Speedway in April. In addition to his part-time schedule for KBM, he has produced two top-five, and six top-10 finishes across eight ARCA Menards Series starts for Rev Racing this season, including a sixth-place finish at Talladega in April.

“It’s exciting to have TrueTimber on the truck as well as our associate sponsors Bass Pro Shops and Zariz Transport,” said Wood. “It’s great having everyone come together to help us get out to the track. This is probably one of my favorite paint schemes I’ve ever had on a race car—it turned out pretty sweet. Thankful to Rusty and all the people at TrueTimber that helped back this. I had the opportunity to go down to their plant near Spartanburg, South Carolina and had the opportunity to meet a lot of the people and check out what they do there. It will be fun to have them at the racetrack, especially at a cool place like Talladega.”

FibroTex to Launch Snow-Alpine Camouflage System at AUSA

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2023

Winter is coming?  Winter is already here, and so are we!
(AUSA 2023, Fibrotex’ booth #245).

Fibrotex’ new Snow-Alpine (“winter-winter net”) and Woodland-Alpine (“summer-winter net”) has overcome the long-lasting challenge by defeating both UV and SWIR sensors in the Snow environment at the same time and providing, alongside our other combinations, two (2) different battlefields in one (1) single layered system. These new systems join our family of camouflage environments to create a full and complete “global” spectrum suite of solutions (wood/wood, wood/urban, wood/desert and desert/urban).

While the global warming affects every aspect of our lives with uncontrolled, unexpected, and certainly unwelcome weather, we must understand that as challenging as this could be for civilians, it makes it even harder and certainly more dangerous for our warfighters out there. As extreme as this summer was (or still is in some parts of the world), we should anticipate the same or worse for this coming winter and prepare for it already today.

FibroTex capabilities, through the ULCANS program (the US Army & Marine Corps Program of Record) provide the full suite of solutions: Visual and Nir-IR through Shortwave-IR, Thermal (both middle and long wave) and RADAR imbedded in ONE, single layered, Reversible (double-sided), Multispectral system. The Program includes a variety of applications from the individual level and all the way up to combatant vehicles, CPs, and anything else that would need to be or stay undetected.

With the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and in other highly volatile regions in the world, signature management was deemed a vital part of today’s battlefield. With those lessons learned It is now a known fact that we need to make sure all our assets wherever vehicles, command posts or even individuals, Static and mobile, are given the ability to be concealed & protected against detecting sensors as such. Fibrotex’ ULCANS POR grants access to those readily available (all with NSN), tested & approved solutions.

As we move into winter warfighting and with a greater temperature difference between the human body/operating platforms and the surrounding temperature than in the summer wherever in Ukraine, Alaska or any other snow environment, this ability to conceal assets in Snow, Alpine and Arctic (SAA) environments is both harder due to the extreme temperature difference between the asset (individual or platform) and the surrounding environment and includes another sensor that the world has long forgotten about – Ultraviolet sensors (UV). Since providing all of the aforementioned sensors into one solution is already ‘not easy’ (apologies for our Engineering and R&DT teams for the use of this light term), adding the UV capability is not only very tricky but was also impossible to date. Not for nothing, the last Snow system was developed in 1972….  Needless to say, every sensor has improved since. Combining high UV reflectance, white colors in the Visual, high Reflectance in the Near-IR BUT low reflectance in the Shortwave-IR (SWIR) and still providing RADAR concealment (with the ability to keep communications on… as with our current systems already in service), the future of winter warfighting is now Finally here!

Come visit our stand at AUSA and see our new ‘winter collection’, our new Thermal Uniforms (yes…more to follow) and our full-spectrum Mobile solutions. Join us in our stand, Fibrotex stand #245 for happy hour on Tuesday, Oct 10th at 3pm.

DSEI 23 – StalkLand Camo by Sniper Dynamics

Tuesday, September 19th, 2023

It always cool to run across small US companies while attending European trade shows. Take for instance Sniper Dynamics which exhibited in the Pacific Northwest booth in the US pavilion.

I had first learned of their StalkLand camouflage pattern during Rampart Range Day from Tactical Concealment who was showing the new pattern. Unfortunately, at the time, they didn’t yet have permission to share it publicly.

However during DSEI, Sniper Dynamics had their StalkLand series pattern in full display with prototype uniforms made by Beyond Clothing and individual equipment from a variety of vendors.

Designed by Army and Marine snipers, the pattern hides the wearer with negative space which can be described as the space around and between the subject(s) of an image. Examples of negative space in nature include grasses, leaves, and twigs.

The base pattern itself blends with unobtrusive terrain contained within the negative space, providing what they refer to as Multi-Environment Ready Concealment (M.E.R.C.).

Developed over the past seven years, this family of patterns is available as Berry Compliant textiles in the form of Brookwood printed 500D Cordura for Armor kit & pouches as well 50/50 NyCo & 57/43 NyCo Extreme IHWCU for uniforms as well as jacquard webbing from Murdoch Webbing. They also offer transfer film from TWN Water Transfer Printing.

Saab’s New Camouflage Feature Solves Communications Challenge

Thursday, September 7th, 2023

Saab announces a new feature for its Barracuda Ultra-lightweight Camouflage Screen (ULCAS) giving armed forces the possibility to combine protection from the enemy with the possibility to communicate with friendly forces.

Barracuda camouflage nets provide vital protection for a soldier, hiding the operator from for example radar sensors. However, the same characteristics that provide that protection, also limits the use of GPS and/or VHF communications to and from underneath the net.

Saab’s new Frequency Selective Surface technology (ULCAS-FSS) allows selected radio frequencies to pass easily either way through the camouflage net, while protecting against the higher frequencies of electromagnetic waves used by radar systems.

The represents a significant advancement in modern signature management technology.

“Thanks to our expertise within signature management, we are taking camouflage to the next level with this novel feature. It changes how soldiers communicate while keeping multispectral protection, and so introduces a new era of tactical communication flexibility, offering unparalleled capabilities,” says Henning Robach, head of Saab’s business unit Barracuda.

Saab’s camouflage solutions, including the ULCAS with FSS feature will be shown during the DSEI 2023 event in London, 12-15 September at stand H7-210.
