UF PRO – Monsoon Gen2 Jacket
Thursday, July 28th, 2016Trzin, 28.07.2016. UF PRO® introduced today the new generation of the Monsoon waterproof/breathable jackets.
UF PRO® is launching a new generation of waterproof/ breathable jackets, namely the Monsoon and the Monsoon XT Gen.2 Jacket. The two jackets differ in material and cut; the XT version is the more robust version, whereas the Monsoon jacket offers a more civilian look.
Both jackets are made out of a 3-layer GORE-TEX® laminate which offers a hydrostatic head of 150m, equivalent to a water column up to 15 bar, without any water penetration and great breathability capabilities.
But the Monsoon Jackets don’t only bring great materials and waterproof construction to the table. Two features really set the jackets apart from all the rest.
The hood has an integrated system, which the folks at UF PRO® call the Hood/Harness®. The harness works as a base cap, you simply adjust it according to your head size and when you wear it, the hood follows your neck movements, without the need to strap the hood to your head. Since the laminate isn’t directly in touch with your head, air circulation and your ability to hear is still intact, even while wearing a hood.
The other feature is called the air/pac® insert. This 8mm thick mesh inserts in the shoulder area distribute the weight of plate carriers or backpacks and prevent the formation of thermal bridges. With the new Monsoon generation, UF PRO® glues the pocket configuration onto the jacket, instead of seam sealing them. This makes the pocket configuration extremely water resistant and the jackets even lighter.
The price for the new Monsoon Jackets starts at 440.00€ and they are available in Black, Brown-Grey and MutliCam®.

Natick’s Rob DiLalla Awarded for Ballistic Combat Shirt
Tuesday, July 26th, 2016Robert DiLalla, team leader of the Infantry Combat Equipment Team at the Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center has been chosen as the recipient of the 2015 MG Harold “Harry” J. Greene Award for Innovation in the Individual-Civilian category for his work developing the Ballistic Combat Shirt. Named in honor of MG Greene, who served as senior commander at the Natick Soldier Systems Center, the award recognizes technological innovations that enhance Army readiness and Soldier performance.

DiLalla partnered with co-inventors Protect the Force, LLC for the BCS, which incorporates deltoid and thoracic protection, as well as improved neck protection into the Combat Shirt and is a component of Soldier Protection System.

Combat Flip Flops – The Amputee Retrofit Strap
Friday, July 22nd, 2016The Amputee Retrofit Strap (ARS) is a new product from Combat Flip Flops, an accessory strap which secures their new Floperator model flip flop to a prosthetic leg. It was manufactured in association with Tactical Tailor, and is intended to give Veteran amputees the ability to wear the Floperator model flip flops.
Currently, the Amptee Retrofit Strap is available as a free accessory with the Floperator. No word yet on whether the ARS will be offered as a stand-alone product, but stay tuned for further news.

Warrior East – 5.11 XPRT Uniform
Friday, July 15th, 2016There was a sneak peek of 5.11 Tactical’s new XPRT uniform at SHOT Show but the actual public debut at IWA in Germany earlier this year. It only seems fitting as the features were hammered out in conjunction with a European national police CT unit. I got to check it out the but the only sample was in Dark Navy, making it difficult to discern details, and the booth was swamped with customers.
The uniform’s first American appearance was during SOFIC, but 5.11 asked me not to show it yet.
Finally, at Warrior East, I’m able to show you this new three-piece uniform. It includes Tactical and Rapid shirts as well as Tactical Pant.
5.11 has put a lot of innovation into the XPRT uniform. For example, they are the first adopters of the new NYCO Tactical fabric from Invista which also offers Cordura fabric. It still features a rip-stop weave but it’s lighter than the standard 50/50 NYCO we are now used to, and has a more comfortable hand.
And then, there’s the whole design. It’s unlike anything else 5.11 has ever offered.
Black and Dark Navy have landed in the US and should be on 5.11 Tactical’s website shortly. MultiCam will be available around SHOT Show 2017.
Warrior East – Beyond Level A9E
Thursday, July 14th, 2016The level A9E (E=Equatorial) is Beyond’s Hot Wet uniform. Made from the USSOCOM-validated jungle fabric from Burlington, Beyond has kept the design simple, with a few specialized features.
For example, the Jungle Blouse has a mesh lined, rear vented yoke.
One feature that I haven’t seen in a jungle uniform before is the mesh underwear liner. It’s much like you’ll find in swimwear. There are also mesh gaiters sewn into the legs of the pants.
