Kitanica Introduces The Shirt

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

At SHOT Show Kitanica exhibited a prototype of their newest garment, The Shirt and solicited input from attendees. Now, based on this feedback, they have slightly refined the design and introduced it to the market.

The Shirt also incorporates a double yoke, raglan shoulder construction along with a bi-swing back for enhanced mobility as well as pleated inset shoulder pockets with Velcro patches. Additionally, the angled chest pockets are pleated to lay flat. Finally, The Shirt can be worn out or tucked in and accepts removable elbow pads. Manufactured from a 7 oz 65/35 PolyCotton Ripstop, it makes a great lightweight companion for their PNT X.A.

Available in Small – XXLarge in Black.

NBOW – Massif

Saturday, September 10th, 2011

Let’s face it, not everyone needs FR. Massif has traditionally been all about FR for years but have recently recently released some more traditional clothing options. The Integrated Tactical Jacket already hit the market over the summer and now two new products will release next week.

20110910-015520.jpg

How about an 8 oz combat shirt that offers water resistant sleeves and yoke as well as inset sleeve pockets with mesh linings? If so, the lightweight combat shirt is for you. If all that isn’t enough, Massif has also incorporated a snag resistant torso and a zippered collar.

Additionally, Massif has developed the Diamond Peak pant. Made from a stretchy nylon blend (96% Nylon 4% spandex), it includes an articulated cut as well as innovative, compartmented rear pockets that slide bulky items toward the hips so you don’t sit on them. These are discreet tactical pants like you’ve never seen them.

Both items are ready to ship. www.massif.com

NBOW – DRIFIRE

Saturday, September 10th, 2011

If you are in Naval Aviation Maintenance this is awesome news. No one has updated deck clothing in ages. DRIFIRE took up the charge and developed a completely new deck ensemble.

20110910-011941.jpg

The new deck jersey retains the traditional design with a couple of enhancements. First and foremost, it’s FR, real FR. It’s so FR that I observed a PYROMAN test with the new clothing where the deck jersey actually extinguished a float coat that kept burning (yes, these burn) even after the flame was removed. Additionally, the DRIFIRE fabric wicks moisture and is anti-microbial.

20110910-012022.jpg

In additional the mock turtle neck it also features thumbholes in the cuffs to enhance protection from flame as well as weather. It is available in all seven deck jersey colors.

In addition to applying their fabric technology to the issue deck pant, DRIFIRE also came up with a completely new design. It integrates a semi-elastic waist to accommodate various waist sizes as well as layering for cold weather. DRIFIRE also added a second cargo pocket as well as wand holders on both hips above the cargo pockets. Finally, there is an adjustment strap at the hem of the pant.

Overall, this is HUGE improvement over the issue, non-FR status quo.

NBOW – SmartWool

Saturday, September 10th, 2011

SmartWool’s foray into the compression began with endurance athletes a little over a year ago. Military personnel are athletes as well and currently operating in some of the most extreme environments on earth. Naturally, some forward thinking folks in the military have put them to the test.

Active recovery helps reduce edema by helping force blood away from the feet back towards the trunk. To further aid the wearer passive recovery aids post event by supporting the musculature and once again reduce edema.

To put this into perspective, the average travel compression sock offers about 12 mmHg (millimeters of Mercury) in compression while the SmartWool socks come in at about 25 mmHg. Anything above 30 mmHg is considered medical grade compression.

SmartWool offers two weights of compression socks; ultralight and light cushion. Already, the ultralight is being looked at as a liner sock by some in the aviation community. Additionally, ground pounders have worn them as well for use while patrolling under a heavy pack.

20110909-040729.jpg

Available in both FR and non-FR versions, this new Combat Shirt and Pant are debuting here on Soldier Systems.

20110909-034552.jpg

20110909-034805.jpg

The torso and monkey paw cuffs of the Combat Shirt uses the Polartec Power Dry FR with sleeves and yoke made from the new lightweight TenCate fabric recently adopted by the US Army. Alternatively, if FR is not required, 50/50 NYCO will be used in place of the TenCate fabric. The cuffs can be turned under when not needed. The torso fabric extends up into the armpit area to enhance breathability and range of motion. It also features inset zipped sleeve pockets with Velcro patches and a left forearm poacket as well as a mandarin zipped collar.

20110909-034657.jpg

Despite a low profile silhouette the pants still offer 11 pockets. Optional cord loops after the ability to dummy cord critical items and a semi-elastic waistband make for comfort when layers are added or subtracted. A flush hammer loop to the left rear handles knives or other tools. Flat rear and front thigh pockets help reduce bulk.

20110909-035431.jpg

These will make a great alternative combat ensemble for those who do not use the standard Army and Marine uniform options. I’ve not even touched on all of the features so be sure to look for more info at www.782gear.com.
