The Perfect Hydration Tube: Source and Qore Performance Team Up on Tube Collaboration for IcePlate Curve

Monday, March 30th, 2020

Sterling, VA: Tired of inadequate hydration hoses, Qore Performance and Source have joined forces to create a custom version of the Source Tactical Drink Tube, built specifically for IcePlate Curve and IcePlate MOLLE Combo. This custom tube combines Source’s best-in class Helix Bite Valve drink tube with a 90 Degree Hard Elbow Qore Performance created specifically for IcePlate Curve. “This collaboration is super exciting for us because it delivers everything we want in a hydration tube: low-visibility signature, durability, reliability, and zero tube-kink risk. It really is the perfect drink tube,” said Qore Performance Co-Founder & CEO, Justin Li.

Qore Performance released IcePlate Curve in August 2019, exactly three years after they launched the original IcePlate Classic in August 2016. IcePlate Curve is the only hydration system in the world that can deliver four distinct benefits to the user with water they already carry: cooling, heating, hydration, and impact protection. Matching the exact geometry of a Medium ESAPI armor plate, IcePlate Curve delivers 50oz./1.5L and 70 watts of cooling in an ultra-slim, conformal package designed to minimize profile and boost physiological performance with a nearly indestructible package that can be worn under armor plates, over armor plates, or stand-alone for safety, recreational, and training applications.

A key component to IcePlate Curve is the IceCap. IceCap, designed and assembled by Qore Performance, is the Quick Disconnect drink tube interface for IcePlate Curve that uses the 28-410 thread standard, allowing it to be used on almost any plastic bottle product from Coca-Cola/Dasani in the world, in addition to IcePlate Curve.

The Source Tactical Drink Tube and Helix Bite Valve are currently standard on all Military and Law Enforcement orders placed with Qore Performance. They will come standard on all IcePlate Curves and be available as a stand-alone product starting April 1, 2020. Currently, they are available exclusively through Qore Performance’s website.

Qore Performance, Inc. is actively enhancing human performance and safety with wearable thermoregulation technology for military, law enforcement and safety professionals everywhere. Their IceAge Ecosystem enhances human physiological performance through thermoregulation under kit and while training. Qore Performance’s solutions were born out of a critical need identified by Co-Founder Justin Li, to improve performance and safety while working as a sworn law enforcement officer in the California desert.

Watershed Joins Kitsbow, Industry Nine, Oowee Products in COVID-19 Response

Switching from Drybags to Face Shields, Watershed helps WNC gear makers produce 1,000,000 units a month

Asheville, NC (March 29, 2020) – Known for their top of the line submersible packs, duffels and cases, Watershed Drybags joins the ranks of Kitsbow, Industry Nine and Oowee Products in creating hundreds of thousands of face shields in response to the coronavirus pandemic. The brand, who also outfits several military units including the Navy SEALs, is assisting by cutting out clear polycarbonate shields to be used in the end design of the reusable, protective medical equipment.

Led by cycling clothing company, Kitsbow and cycling component brand, Industry Nine, the foursome went from manufacturing their own products to pumping out thousands of face shields a week within days. By working together on sourcing, production and development, the brands shifted into high gear cutting 30,000+ shields ready for assembly in just one day (on March 27).

“Industry Nine CEO and friend, Clint Spiegel, called me after hours on Tuesday March 24, wanting to see if our automated cutting table could cut the shield material. We rushed some personnel back to the shop, and within 30 minutes had laid out the patterns and successfully cut parts. We are proud to be contributing to the nationwide effort at PPE production.”

The shields will be distributed regionally and nationally to medical professionals and first responders and began shipping on Saturday (March 28). The goal is to make and ship 1,000,000 a month. See www.kitsbow.com/collections/medical for more information on the PPE products.

Watershed Drybags are known for their patented Drybag technology that uses their one-of-a-kind ZipDry closure system, abrasion resistant polyurethane-coated fabric and radio frequency welded joints. The end result is a bag so airtight and watertight it can endure up to 300 feet of underwater pressure. Their bags were born from a love of whitewater kayaking, but have filtered into many arenas over the years such as preppers/survivalists, the military, and mountain biking.

AmmoSquared Inc Raises over $300K in Seed Round

Saturday, March 28th, 2020

AmmoSquared® utilized Wefunder.com, an equity crowdfunding site, to raise capital from customers and gun rights supporters to scale its unique ammunition subscription model to the mainstream market.

Boise, Idaho (March 2020) AmmoSquared® Inc., the online ammunition subscription site, has completed its equity crowdfunding round on Wefunder.com, raising nearly $313k from pro-gun investors to date.

Investors in AmmoSquared Inc. will receive Series Seed Preferred Stock at a $4.49m valuation. The company will use the funds to improve their current technology, build a more user-friendly platform, provide customers with more specific subscription options (down to the UPC level), and increase the current offering of 88 calibers to over 200, including calibers that are hard to find or are very expensive.

“I am very excited to welcome our new investors to AmmoSquared! It was always a personal goal of mine to open the business opportunity to small investors through an equity crowdfund. Many of our investors are also customers who saw the value of the service before anyone else did and so as new owners in the company, can now take part in our rapid growth.” Dan Morton, CEO of AmmoSquared Inc., commented.

AmmoSquared’s subscription formula allows customers to accumulate ammunition over time through a recurring purchase program. It is then stored securely and delivered on request or automatically via pre-set delivery triggers. During the current ammo shortage crisis, in which retail and online store shelves are out of stock, AmmoSquared customers are confidently able to receive their accumulated ammunition without issue.

New investors in AmmoSquared are betting that the company’s unique approach to selling ammunition, much like a 401K for ammo (minus the tax benefits, of course), will appeal to new and existing gun owners who want to stay stocked up on ammo, regardless of future market and social conditions.

Over the past year, there has been a surge in demand for the company’s ammunition accumulation program, with the current COVID-19 crisis and ammo shortage further highlighting the importance of AmmoSquared’s business model as a game-changer in the ammunition industry. Subscriber growth has increased over 200% from 12 months ago with a 27% increase in just the last three weeks alone.

AmmoSquared is currently accepting additional investments from Accredited Investors for a limited time. For investment information visit: ammosquared.com/invest

EUROSATORY 2020 IS CANCELLED

Friday, March 27th, 2020

The sanitary situation due to Covid-19 is deteriorating daily in France and has spread throughout the world.

The conditions for preparing and running the exhibition, which would protect the health and safety of the 100,000 expected participants, visitors, exhibitors and organisers, can not be met.

Many international and French exhibitors registered for the Eurosatory trade fair scheduled from June 8 to 12, 2020 are no longer able to prepare their participation and configure or transport the necessary equipment. It also appears that the very large number of foreign visitors expected to participate in the fair can no longer plan their trip to France.

The postponement of the exhibition to a later date has been studied but the conditions for success can not be met.

The current situation no longer makes Eurosatory possible in 2020. It is with immense disappointment that GICAT (French Land and Airland Defence and Security Association) and its subsidiary COGES are forced to cancel the fair planned for June.

All the participants and partners will be contacted in order to best manage the consequences of this cancellation.

Therefore, Eurosatory team invites you to the next edition of the exhibition that will be held from June 13 to 17, 2022.

We thank you for your understanding. We hope that you and your relatives are in good health and we spare a special thought for anyone affected.

NDIA’s Hand Is in DoD’s Coronavirus Response – Wants To Take Small Business Concerns to DoD

Wednesday, March 25th, 2020

ARLINGTON, VA – Defense Department actions to address three key concerns of the defense industrial base amidst the COVID-19 virus outbreak have resulted from daily meetings last week with the National Defense Industrial Association, its fellow associations and the DoD, the Arlington, VA-based association announces today.

Details of the progress so far may be found in this DoD release.

The three concerns are the ability of critical defense contractor workforce to keep working, to ensure cash flow to the defense industrial base, and to get standardized guidance out to industry. The meetings, which continue, are led by Jennifer Santos, deputy assistant secretary of Defense for industrial policy.

On Friday, March 20, DoD issued two memos that address all three concerns:

 *   Ellen Lord, Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment issued a Defense Industrial Base Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce memo. It defines the defense industrial base (DIB) workforce and ensures its critical employees can continue working. It also reiterated Lord’s commitment to workforce safety and her support of the national security. The memo followed Lord’s close work with Congress and the Department of Homeland Security.

 *   Kim Herrington, director of Defense Pricing and Contracting, issued a Deviation on Progress Payments memo. Among actions, the memo states that once in contracts, the progress payment rate that contracts can get paid for will increase from 80% of cost to 90% for large businesses, and from 90% to 95% for small businesses. Also, DoD will accelerate payments through several means to prime contracts and direct prime contractors to expedite payments to subcontractors.

Please consult the DoD release for detailed information.

“NDIA’s work here is incredibly important,” said President and CEO Hawk Carlisle. “It gets right to the heart of what we do as an organization and allows us make a big impact in support of the defense industrial base during this critical time. We’ll continue to voice the issues the defense industrial base is facing and help the Office of the Secretary of Defense in crafting solutions.”

Lord’s Acquisition and Sustainment leaders in Industrial Policy, Defense Pricing and Contracting, Defense Logistics Agency, and the Defense Contracting Management Agency are part of this continuing dialog with NDIA, the Aerospace Industries Association, the Professional Services Council, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

NDIA to small businesses: We’ll take your COVID-19 concerns to DoD

ARLINGTON, VA – The Defense Department’s Office of Acquisition and Sustainment wants to know what challenges small-business contractors are facing in response to the COVID-19 crisis. A five-minute survey from the National Defense Industrial Association will collect contractors’ initial impacts and concerns for DoD officials by Friday, March 27, the Arlington, VA, association announces today.

Of the more than 300,000 businesses that work with the Defense Department, a vast majority is small business. Of the 1,700 companies with NDIA membership, about 70% is small business. All information from the survey will remain confidential and anonymous; no comments will have individual attribution. Participation is voluntary, and respondents don’t need to answer any or all of the questions posed.

“We greatly appreciate the time small businesses will take to complete this survey,” said Corbin Evans, principal director of strategic programs at NDIA, who is managing the survey. “The time they spend doing this survey will help themselves, fellow small-businesses and the Defense Department respond and ensure a healthy industrial base when this crisis ends.”

Questions about the survey, its purpose or contents may be sent to Evans at Cevans@NDIA.org
