Introducing Combat Application Technologies (CAT): A New Era of Innovation and Excellence

Monday, July 31st, 2023

CGS Group LLC (CGS), a trailblazing force in the world of small arms and suppressor material innovation, proudly announces the official distribution rights for Law Enforcement (LE) and government sales of Combat Application Technologies (CAT) in the United States. The addition of the CAT brand to CGS, only strengthens CGS’ existing suppressor and small arm offerings, an already combat-proven group of products. CAT itself aims to revolutionize the U.S. market with cutting-edge defense products.

CAT sits within a global research and development group committed to redefining military and defense products through innovation and enhanced product design. CAT was created via product experimentation and prototyping being conducted within the group, whose team has been solely focused on global Special Mission Unit programs. CAT products range from advanced lab engineered synthetic acids for carbon decomposition to suppressors, explosive devices, and weapon systems in multiple calibers.

“We are thrilled to introduce CAT to the U.S. LE and government markets, as CAT is a rare opportunity for these customers to touch technology not originally designed or intended for the commercial market — but instead designed for global direct action military programs. This said, at CGS, we were more excited about the brand aesthetics matching the product innovation, as the CAT brand is quirky, a touch naughty and is a pleasant departure from what other brands are doing in the U.S. market currently, certainly not from companies so technically driven.”, said Mr. Robert West, a Director at CGS.

Mr. West continued, “The R&D group behind CAT were looking at appointing a U.S. partner to provide both manufacturing support and distribution services for LE and government customers in the U.S. as we share the same U.S. Additive Manufacturing partner the group uses globally, it made sense for CGS to offer itself as a reliable partner that understands the US industry. CGS and CAT teams share a common understanding that exceptional products are born from a deep understanding of end user needs. CAT’s R&D team has spent years meticulously designing and refining complex engineered products for global Tier One teams through various defense brands, ensuring that they surpass expectations in terms of quality and functionality. We support their transition to own brand recognition and feel their value proposition matches that of CGS Group.”

CAT retail suppressor models have a variation in mounting design, provided with a standard 1.375×24 threaded hub, offering consumers the ability to use non-factory quick detach (QD) systems. LE and government suppressor models designated – ‘MIL’, are only offered with CAT’s ‘TSF X’ – an in-built 1x16LH QD adapter, or in two direct thread options. CAT will offer a range of muzzle devices all compatible for TSF X QD integration, including a TSF X reducer for converting 1.375×24 to 1x16LH.

“Our team at CGS has poured their hearts and minds into creating first-to-market products over the last eight years that not only meet, but exceed the expectations of our customers. We look forward to assisting CAT in creating its own lasting impact and becoming an integral product line for both U.S. government and civilian defense customers. The market needs to be pushed again, any brand that wishes to redefine a market should be applauded, as it forces the rest of us to evolve or perish.

Having a global R&D developer enter with their own established U.S. ex-SMU personnel and engineering teams will hopefully reduce the branding white noise a lot of defense companies have used to establish themselves, where brand has superseded actual innovation. We are extremely excited to see the U.S. suppressor industry in particular lift from their current standards to the over 106 point technical standard that brands like CAT use on every suppressor.” said Mr. West.

CAT LE and government products will be available through an official CAT website from 14 August 2023, which will include a dedicated LE and government portal. CAT will also be available to the retail market via selected retail partners across the U.S. from 2 October 2023, initially in staggered caliber launches.

Customers can stay connected with the U.S. launch of the brand on social media platforms such as @specterscat on Instagram. CGS will support customer service in the U.S. — offering a limited condition lifetime warranty.

The function, quality, and durability of Allied products have been battle tested for decades. Most of our forces have used items from TRC/Allied during their service such as 3-Mag pouch, Entrenching Tool Pouch, Casualty Kits, Tourniquet, Barrel Bags, the list is extensive. Several top tier Tactical Brands currently leverage Allied’s experience for the making of their commercial products.

Whether your company needs to refine an existing product or develop an entirely new one, TRC has the experience and expertise to deliver the solution you need.  We specialize in sewing and kitting, allowing us to provide a variety of items to satisfy the requirements of your contracts and/or commercial customers. After four decades, we know how to respond to the demands of the Armed Forces. We understand how quickly the military’s needs can arise and how quickly they can change. Our capabilities include kitting, packaging and assembly. Short-term or permanent. We’ve completed hundreds of jobs for dozens of manufacturers, there’s very few challenges we have not achieved.

Allied Industries is not your typical manufacturer. Yes, we provide labor and product development solutions for our customers. But we also provide education, training and employment opportunities to people with disabilities in Chautauqua County, New York. Our mission is to help people with disabilities achieve maximum independence, contribute to their communities, experience lifelong growth and enjoy a high quality of life.

One of the ways we do that is by helping people—who otherwise wouldn’t have an opportunity to work—secure meaningful employment. We teach them the skills they need to succeed in the workplace. Then we put them to work in one of our manufacturing facilities or help them find competitive jobs in the community.

Allied Industries customizes its solutions to customers’ unique circumstances.

Our competitive advantages are:

Experience and Innovation. Need a prototype for a new product? Looking to enhance an existing one? We leverage our military experience and expertise to develop new products and make improvements to existing ones that meet stringent military guidelines. We’re certified to ISO 9001:2015 standards by American Global Standards Registrar, and our manufacturing process has been approved by the U.S. military for decades.

Made in the U.S.A. These aren’t just buzz words to us. Our employees take pride in creating products the men and women who serve our country use every day. Our items are produced by U.S. workers, using only American-made materials.

Large Workforce. No job is too big. When your workload exceeds your employees’ capacity, and you don’t want to hire temporary workers, we act as an extension of your workforce to get the job done.

Extra Space. With 105,000 square feet of floor space spread across two facilities, we can add additional jobs to our pipeline when your capacity is maxed out.

Creating customized solutions to meet the unique needs of our manufacturing customers is what we do. Let’s start solving your production challenges today.

NIOA Australia CEO Urges Support For Industry In Face Of Cuts

Friday, July 28th, 2023

NIOA’s CEO for Australia and New Zealand, Ben James, has called on Defence to rally behind industry in the wake of revelations that thousands of contractors face the axe.

James’s plea was triggered by a recent media report which revealed that Defence is planning to purge contractors in a raft of budgetary measures.

NIOA Australia and New Zealand CEO Ben James, at last night’s AIDN Queensland dinner, has called on Defence to back local industry in challenging times.

The boss of the biggest Australian-owned supplier of munitions to the ADF last night (Eds: Thursday, July 27) told Queensland’s premier defence gathering in Brisbane that Defence’s cost crackdown risked undermining industry engagement and confidence amid a regional environment which he described as “an increasingly rough neighbourhood”.

“Properly harnessed, motivated and engaged industry partners bring market expertise, private capital and investment and superior agility to capability delivery that is beyond the capacity of government agencies acting in isolation,” James told AIDN Queensland gala dinner guests.

“In that sense, there will need to be a degree of calibration and nuance in what the AFR described last month as Defence’s ‘War on Contractors’.

“A vibrant, viable and functional defence industry base is a critical pillar in achieving the strategic depth we seek in an increasingly rough neighbourhood.

“Conversely, a weak, short-sighted and bureaucracy-bound industry base could represent a harbinger for a catastrophic failure of credibility in deterrence.”

With Australian defence and foreign ministers and their American counterparts in Brisbane this week for the annual AUSMIN talks, James seized upon the timing to emphasise the critical role of allied sovereign capability.

Regional defence and security will be high on the agenda when Defence Minister Richard Marles and Foreign Minister Penny Wong meet with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin.

“One of the stated aims of this week’s AUSMIN dialogue is to establish a combined logistics, sustainment, and maintenance enterprise to support high?end warfighting and combined military operations in the region,” James said.

“The US is currently pursuing changes to Title 3 of the Defense Production Act which would allow Australian based production and manufacturing to be listed as a US domestic source.

“The Defence Strategic Review itself calls out the need to manufacture munitions in Australia.

“If all of these initiatives are important and central to Australia’s defence posture, I would contend Defence needs to go to war in partnership with industry, rather than declaring a jihad against contractors in the wake of Major Service Provider misconduct and an urgent need for budget savings.”

James’s address resonated with more than 345 stakeholders, including industry leaders and SMEs from throughout Queensland, many of whom were at the same event last year when he warned Australia “is well off the pace” in building a reliable defence industrial base.

The former Brigadier said the defence industry was navigating through challenging times, and the importance of collaboration between government and industry was greater than ever.

“From a Defence industry perspective, the DSR was scathing of CASG, finding ‘the current approach to capability acquisition as unsuitable in our strategic circumstances’,” he said.

“Similarly, the review found that the Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) enterprise, established after the Strategic Update in 2020 to ‘support missile and guided weapons manufacturing for use across the Australian Defence Force’, lacks required workforce and is yet to produce a strategy.

“Now, the DSR informs us, the GWEO Enterprise has until quarter two 2024 to determine options for the increase in guided weapons and EO stocks, including the rapid establishment of domestic manufacturing.

“So, four years after the Strategic Update identified the ‘military modernisation faster than we had expected’ in our region, the ‘deployment of new weapons by our adversaries that challenge Australia’s military capability edge’ and ‘greater intensity in major power competition’, we will have options presented to Government to increase EO stocks an rapidly establish domestic manufacturing… without a penny of new money to achieve as much.

“The misalignment between how we see and describe our region and the pace at which we are implementing necessary changes to industry settings are a case of ‘talking the talk’; but not ‘walking the walk’. Our audio is not matching our video.”

Paolo Bigerna Triumphs at the Skiritai Legacy Sniper Competition with ZeroTech Optics

Wednesday, July 26th, 2023

ITALY, 25th July 2023 – The Skiritai Legacy Sniper Competition, held on 24-25 June 2023, ended with a spectacular victory for Paolo Bigerna, Testimonial of C&C Hunting Srl and Instructor and Training Manager of the Long Range Shooting Division of the OP. 07 TRAINING DIVISION Academy.

The competition saw Bigerna overcome top-level sportsmen, expert shooters and other operators from various Italian armed forces and beyond.

The competition was a grueling 30-hour event, with continuous activity both day and night. Each sniper was equipped with a bolt action or semi-automatic sniper rifle, a pistol and a backpack with all the equipment necessary for the task, including food and water. Targets, both metal and paper, were placed at ranges ranging from 65 to 900 m.

Bigerna, with 22 years of active service in the Italian Army, distinguished himself above all in the more complex exercises. His performance was particularly notable using the ZeroTech Trace Advanced 4-24×50 FFP Tremor3 scope. Despite the difficult conditions, such as spotting camouflaged targets, Bigerna managed to achieve impressive results. Also very important is the role of Marco Mirroni, Project Manager of the OP.07 Training Division and Marketing Development Consultant of C&C Hunting Srl, who provides valuable and constant support in the triangulation of these partnerships by managing field tests and product development.

“ZeroTech optics have played a significant role in my success,” Bigerna said. “The product offers excellent value for money and is the ideal choice for precision shooting. My experience in military and sports shooting, combined with the quality of these optics, has contributed to achieving this important result”.

C&C Hunting Srl, Official Sponsor of the Shooter and Exclusive Distributor for Italy of Zerotech Optics, expressed its pride for Bigerna’s result and for the support received from ZeroTech international. “We are thrilled with Paolo’s achievement and the performance of the ZeroTech scope. This competition was a testament to the quality of our products and the skill and professionalism of our shooters and collaborators,” said Roberto Catasti, CEO of C&C Hunting Ltd.

True Velocity Acquires Suppressor Manufacturer Delta P Design

Monday, July 24th, 2023

Texas-based ammunition manufacturer TV Ammo, Inc. (“True Velocity”) announced today it has acquired advanced suppressor technology company Delta P Design (“Delta P”).

The strategic acquisition, approved by the True Velocity Board of Directors earlier this month, further strengthens the company’s portfolio of American-made advanced, lightweight ammunition technology and next-generation weapon systems.

True Velocity’s initial focus was on the deployment of advanced, lightweight polymer-cased ammunition solutions in the domestic and international defense markets, as well as the U.S. commercial market, but this merger with Delta P, on top of the previous acquisition of Lone Star Future Weapons in November 2021, demonstrates the company’s accelerated expansion into a growing global market for advanced weapon system technology made in the United States.

“True Velocity owns world-class ammunition technology, world-class machine gun technology and, now with the acquisition of Delta P, world-class suppressor technology,” said True Velocity President and Lone Star Future Weapons Chairman Craig Etchegoyen. “The only rule we have, when it comes to providing the very best technology to our warfighters, is that it must be American-made. With the acquisition of Delta P, we now have the ability to provide our warriors with superior ammunition, superior weapons and superior suppressors, all made here in America.”

Delta P’s innovative, American-made centerfire rifle suppressors and accessories enable enhanced weapon performance through weight, sound and flash reduction, while maintaining optimal functionality and maneuverability. It is the only suppressor technology available that has been proven to function with full reliability on machine gun platforms. True Velocity expects to optimize Delta P’s suppressor technology for military and commercial applications in conjunction with its innovative recoil mitigation technology and advanced weapon system designs. Foremost among those weapon systems is True Velocity’s forthcoming .338 Norma Lightweight Medium Machine Gun, which is the product of more than 12 years of design and development work at General Dynamics Ordnance & Tactical Systems and more than 300,000 rounds of test firing. Lone Star Future Weapons licensed this and other weapon technology from General Dynamics in 2021, prior to Lone Star being acquired by True Velocity.

“At Delta P Design we have partnered closely with True Velocity for several years to develop signature suppression solutions for their various weapon platforms,” said Delta P Design Director of Business Development David Strong. “We are excited to take this next step in our relationship, which will allow us to propagate our unique technology to users and partners worldwide. We believe that the combination of Delta P Design suppressors with True Velocity lightweight ammunition and weapon designs, will provide the U.S. military and allied nations with a critical overmatch capability, along with helping to solve many health and safety issues to the benefit of our warfighters. We are equally excited at the opportunity to bring these technologies to the civilian firearms market, where health and safety are likewise important.”

True Velocity acquired all outstanding equity interests of Springfield, Oregon-based Delta P on a cash- and debt-free basis in a reverse triangular merger. The merger is treated as a tax-free reorganization and closed in July 2023.

“We’re extremely excited to make Delta P part of the True Velocity family,” said True Velocity Chairman and Co-CEO Kevin Boscamp. “They’ve demonstrated a culture of innovation in the suppressor space that matches our standard of excellence and will only enhance our ability to take ammunition and weapon technology to the next level.”

True Velocity’s composite-cased ammunition is designed to offer extensive advantages over traditional brass-cased ammunition, including exceptional dimensional consistency, significantly enhanced accuracy, reduced heat transfer, and an approximate 30 percent reduction in weight over traditional brass-cased cartridges. The company’s advanced weapon technology offers a patented impulse-averaging recoil mitigation system and other innovative features producing improved performance and extreme precision.

Rab Launches Material Facts on Apparel and Sleeping Bags From This Autumn

Friday, July 21st, 2023

Your chance to find out transparent sustainability information and make an informed purchasing choice

British outdoor brand Rab is clearing up the confusion many of us often feel when trying to understand sustainability jargon and logos on outdoor products. From September 2023, Material Facts will be available for all Rab apparel and sleeping bags, accessible online through scanning a QR code on the product hangtag. You will be able find out more detailed, easy-to-understand information on recycled content, fluorocarbon status and production information.

Rab doesn’t believe in hiding behind a ‘green logo’ or ‘eco-friendly’ label. A quick scan of the QR code on your smartphone will take you to a clear and accurate Material Facts sustainability data table. This information will enable you to make your own educated choice, before buying a Rab clothing or sleeping bag product.

Rab and Lowe Alpine’s parent company Equip Outdoor Technologies Ltd., frustrated with a lack of clarity around sustainability criteria, created the pioneering Material Facts sustainability information tables to drive a focus on accuracy and transparency, as product director Tim Fish explains: “Communicating sustainability information is complex and means different things to different people, often leading to misleading claims and greenwashing. We’ve developed our non-branded Material Facts program to provide consumers with enough information to make their own educated purchasing decisions. The program leads the way by taking into account consumers’ and retailers’ demands for accurate and honest sustainability product claims.”

By the end of 2024, all Rab and Lowe Alpine packs, equipment and accessories will also include Material Facts tables, and more criteria will be added in the future.

Equip will continue to drive industry-wide engagement to constantly improve Material Facts and to jointly create an industry standard with other brands and industry stakeholders. This is a clear step forward in terms of aligned accurate, honest and transparent CSR communication.

More information about the current Material Facts program can be found here.
