G3 Systems Selected as the Preferred Supplier to Upgrade NavyPODS Capability

Friday, November 21st, 2025

G3 Systems Limited, the British company with over 24 years of operationally proven expertise in designing and producing deployable infrastructure and containerised solutions, has recently completed an essential upgrade to an existing NavyPODS unit. The work has been completed for QinetiQ on behalf of the Royal Navy’s Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) and aligns with previous work that G3 Systems completed for the Royal Navy early in the development of the NavyPODS concept.

The Royal Navy’s vision for NavyPODS represented a paradigm shift in maritime capability. Rather than traditional ship designs with fixed systems, the focus switched to simplicity, adaptability and modularity. The concept, driven forward by OCTO, revolves around the idea of utilising standardized containers as Persistent Operational Deployment System (PODS) housing a spectrum of capabilities, ranging from precision strike and unmanned air systems to directed energy and medical aid.

G3 Systems has vast experience and proven expertise in designing, building and supporting such high-specification, bespoke, deployable containerised solutions. In addition, G3 Systems also has extensive experience in designing and delivering NavyPODS, having produced the very successful Heavy Lift Drone NavyPODS capability in 2022.

This project was required to upgrade an existing NavyPODS system, for which G3 Systems were not the OEM, to deliver the intended capability. The work included fitting an internal lift structure, bupgrading the roof opening system and repairing and upgrading the structure to meet operational requirements. At the same time, G3 Systems upgraded the ancillary systems to ensure compliance with current regulations.

Nick Rose, Managing Director G3 Systems said, “This work allowed G3 Systems to utilise our knowledge and understanding from the initial NavyPODS concept, and demonstrates our versatility and ability to take on equipment for which are not the OEM, understand it and improve it to meet the customer’s operational requirements. I am really pleased that we have been able to ensure all aspects of the unit are now fully operational and meet the requirements of the end-user.”

This closes the gap between realistic training and operational deployment,” explains Milad Youkhanna, Head of Military & Law Enforcement at SCHUBERTH GmbH.

Rheinmetall Receives Order to Modernise the German Army Combat Training Centre

Thursday, November 20th, 2025

Rheinmetall has been awarded a contract by the Bundeswehr to modernise its Army Combat Training Centre (Gefechtsübungszentrum Heer, GÜZ) in Saxony-Anhalt. The main objective is to integrate the ‘Digitalisation of Land-based Operations’ (D-LBO) project into the central training facility of the land forces. The contract was booked in October 2025 and is worth around €61 million gross. The first services will also be provided in 2025, with the full integration scheduled for early 2028.

The project will have a particular focus on integrating the new digital radio system into the combat training centre. Additionally, all data provided via the battle management system will be displayed in the centre’s command and control centre. Hence, the existing radio infrastructure will be upgraded and expanded extensively. Other components of the contract include establishing a new broadband radio infrastructure using 5G technology, and integrating the Tactical Core software from Rheinmetall subsidiary Blackned into the existing communications infrastructure.

Modernisation will enhance and institutionalize training and leadership capabilities of the Bundeswehr and its NATO allies for the future. A unique multinational interoperability in the training context is being created in the Altmark region.

Once the project is complete, the standard of training at the Combat Training Centre will be elevated to a new hight. The central evaluation software of the centre already offers the option of displaying language and position. Additionally, all digital command processes of the ‘Sitaware Frontline’ and ‘HQ’ systems introduced in the Bundeswehr will now also be processed in the central training software. This allows exercises to be evaluated more comprehensively for all participants.

By the end of 2024, Rheinmetall had won several major digitalisation contracts for the Bundeswehr. Notably, these include the contract to integrate all land forces’ vehicle and platform IT systems as part of D-LBO and the contract to establish and operate the Tactical Wide Area Network for Land Based Operations (TaWAN LBO). In addition, Rheinmetall has been commissioned to supply soldier systems for the digitalisation of infantry forces. The current contract is another important step forward in this context, as it makes the German Army’s unique European training facility ‘D-LBO-ready’.

Origin Robotics Selected by Belgian Ministry of Defense to Supply BLAZE Drone Interceptors

RIGA, Latvia (18 November 2025)Origin Robotics announced today that the Belgian Ministry of Defense has selected its AI-powered BLAZE interceptor as part of a newly approved 50 million euro national counter-drone package aimed at strengthening Belgium’s ability to detect, track and neutralize hostile unmanned aerial systems. The procurement follows several weeks of escalating drone incursions over airports, military facilities and critical infrastructure.

Belgium’s decision comes amid significant pressure to reinforce its airspace security. The country has struggled to respond to repeated air traffic interruptions due to insufficient counter-drone capacity. In recent weeks Belgium had to call in support from Germany and the United Kingdom to compensate for the shortfall. The new short-term package is intended to restore immediate operational resilience while the Ministry of Defense prepares a longer-term investment plan. In addition, Defence Minister Theo Francken has announced a 500 million euro comprehensive anti-drone program for sustained capability development.

Agris Kipurs, CEO and co-founder of Origin Robotics, said, “This decision reaffirms Origin Robotics as a leading company in the field of advanced autonomous defense systems. In essence, this is a major statement of confidence. Belgium is facing an immediate security problem and has chosen BLAZE as the solution. We are proud to support a NATO ally with a system built for exactly this type of threat environment and we remain committed to delivering reliable, cost-effective and rapidly deployable capabilities.”

Launched in May 2025, BLAZE is an autonomous interceptor designed to neutralize fast-moving aerial threats, including loitering munitions and hostile drones. It combines radar-based detection, AI-powered computer vision and operator-approved autonomy to deliver precise, rapid and scalable defensive capability. The system is man-portable, deployable in minutes and capable of high-intensity operational cycles. BLAZE delivers intercepts through airburst fragmentation and includes robust safety features such as operator-controlled wave-off commands for return or self-neutralization.

The Belgian procurement reinforces the growing adoption of Origin Robotics technologies across Europe. Following the battlefield-proven deployment of Origin’s BEAK system with the Latvian and Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as recognition through national and EU defense programs, Origin continues to expand its role as a trusted supplier of autonomous aerial defense solutions.

INTEGRIS Unveils New Compact Shield Developed with N.O.C.S., the Special Operations Unit of the Italian State Police, at Milipol

Friday, November 14th, 2025

Integris is proud to introduce NOX, a compact ballistic shield engineered with Italy’s N.O.C.S. tactical unit and tested in the field by its operators. The shield will debut at Milipol in Paris, 18–21 November 2025.

The ballistic shield was conceived after a consultation in which tactical operators described repeated challenges associated with traditional shields: difficulty moving inside buses, trains or narrow hallways, limited ability to climb while protected, and exposure when breaking windows or entering vehicles. N.O.C.S required a shield that could travel everywhere they could; up staircases, through tight door-frames, across vehicle interiors and into elevated access points, without sacrificing protection. This request shaped the first design brief for NOX.

The shield’s small footprint allows it to be carried with one arm or worn on the shoulder or back, giving full mobility in confined environments. A dedicated handgun rest allows accurate fire from behind cover and its tungsten glass-breaking spikes provide rapid access to vehicles and building interiors, capabilities tested extensively by the N.O.C.S. team.

“Our missions often require rapid access through vehicles or elevated windows where conventional shields simply do not fit. At those moments, an operator was exposed the instant he appeared at the threshold. With this shield, we will have protection during those crucial seconds. It gives us speed, control, and safety under conditions where every movement matters.”

Throughout development, the unit provided hands-on feedback that influenced every detail, from the ergonomics of the padding to the geometry of the handles for gloved use, ultimately leading to a refined and certified second version.

“NOX is the result of genuine cooperation, where a field requirement became a tangible solution. The operators told us exactly where existing shields limited them and by working together, we produced a shield that maintains ballistic protection while allowing full mobility. NOX is small, fast, practical, and built for the realities of close-quarters operations.”

Bianca Revello, Area Manager at Integers

NOX is available in NIJ IIIA configuration and up to Level III+ (7.62×39 MSC), with optional lighting, patches, and accessories. Despite its compact size, it integrates seamlessly with larger column shields during coordinated entry, providing protection in the tight interior spaces that follow.

NOX is a part of the “Design Your Own Shield”program where Integris allows tactical units to customise ballistic shields to their exact mission needs; shape, handles, weight targets, protection level and accessories. With 3D ergonomic samples and prototype hardware for testing, teams can validate handling before production and receive a shield built for their environment and specific needs.
