Monday, October 13th, 2014

Gerber is displaying several new products but here are three you may be interested in.

First up are the MP1-AR and MP1-MRO are new multi-tools. The AR model is designed for maintenance of the M4/16 family of weapons. It incorporates a full fine edge blade as well as a full serrated blade. It also offers a full maintenance suite including punch tool, scraper, pick, front sight adjustment tool and bit driver complete with 12 bits. To finish it off, it has a spring loaded, forged jaw, needle nose pliers.

The MP1-MRO shares the same chassis as the AR model but it’s accessories are tuned for maintenance and repair operations. In addition the the full fine edged blade, it has a full serrated blade but this one also has a 550 cord hook. Gerber also knows that blades are often used for things they aren’t designed for so they’ve included a pry bar as well as a unique chisel/scraper. There’s a file with units of measurement scale and a lanyard loop. They’ve also incorporated something you don’t often see. The hook can be used to fish lines and pull cotter pins. Naturally, it also has a bit driver with 11-piece set.

The Cortex compact is new to the market. What is unique is that it will accept AA or CR123A batteries and offers three settings; high = 175 lumens, medium = ~100 lumens as well as strobe setting. High will get you 2 hours from a 123 battery. It weighs a scant 2oz. Even with its pocket clip.

Tactical Impulse LE-1 Indiegogo Campaign

Thursday, October 9th, 2014

Tactical Impulse is an Arlington, Texas-based flashlight manufacturer. Their flagship product is the LE-1, an LED flashlight system originally developed as a primary duty light for patrol officers. They are currently holding an Indiegogo campaign to increase awareness for their brand, as well as secure additional funding to develop their next round of LE-1 flashlights and accessories, and develop new products.

LE-1

The LE-1 is constructed from aluminum, with a stainless steel bezel. It features a 3100 mAh rechargeable li-ion battery with a run time of up to 12 hours on low, which can be extended to up to 22 hours with the use of the optional Size & Life Extension Pack accessory; run time on medium is 4.5 hours, and 2 hours on high, extended to 8.4 and 3.4 hours, respectively, when the Extension Pack is used. The LE-1 is water resistant to IPX8 standard, and has an impact rating of 2m. Max output is 595 lumens.

As previously mentioned, the LE-1 has a line of accessories that either support or add functionality to the light.

Traffic Baton

The Traffic Baton integrates with the LE-1 and transforms it into an electronic traffic wand, while still allowing the main light to be simultaneously used. It has its own ON/OFF switch, and draws power from the LE-1 battery to operate its internal array of red LEDs.

LE-1 Cradle Charger

The LE-1 Cradle Charger locks the flashlight firmly in place to avoid accidental dislodging. It also comes with a spare battery charging bay.

Smart Holster

The Smart Holster integrates with the LE-1 thanks to Tactical Impulse Smart Light Control Technology, or SLC. SLC was developed to eliminate potential unintended light activations when the light is holstered on a belt, which can prove dangerous for the user. The Smart Holster insures that the LE-1 will not turn on when holstered even if the power switch is pressed, and will also turn off the LE-1 if it is on when holstered.

Wednesday, September 17th, 2014

Newington, NH – Wilcox Industries, manufacturer of tactical equipment, has upgraded the visible light head on their RAPTAR-Lite Eye Safe (ES) ™ laser aiming/illumination device. The upgraded 300 Lumen SureFire® illumination head provides increased capability and versatility for the operator, with seven selectable output-illumination levels.

The RAPTAR-Lite ES model accommodates Military, Law Enforcement and the Sportsman-Outdoor communities. It offers a visible red aiming laser, an infrared aiming laser, and a variable focus infrared illuminator, along with the updated visible illumination flashlight head. The unique wrap-around low profile design allows the operator an unimpeded view. An easy to read LED display indicates the selected modes of operation, active laser emission and low battery indication. The display is adjustable for both day and NVG conditions.

All of the features and functions of the RAPTAR-Lite ES are controlled by ergonomic buttons within the housing of the unit. Included with this unit is a remote pressure pad which mirrors the same button configuration as on the unit, allowing for a quick adjustments and a variety of mounting positions. The visible illuminator and IR flood intensity can be controlled “On the Fly” through either the remote pressure pad or through the unit itself. While compact and lightweight, the RAPTAR-Lite ES does not require the use of special tools for installation or removal. This system can be mounted two ways: directly onto the rail using the ¼”-20 screw or using the included rail interface. A single CR123 battery powers the RAPTAR-Lite ES. All lasers within the RAPTAR-Lite ES are co-aligned for easy bore-sighting and retention of zero.

SureFire Adds Two IR-Capable Weapon Lights To Its X-Series Lineup

Monday, September 8th, 2014

X400V_X300V_Salient

Fountain Valley, CA — SureFire, LLC, manufacturer of high-end illumination tools and tactical products, has released two new models as part of its X-Series family of Weapon Lights designed for handguns but can also be mounted to long guns with Picatinny rails. The versatile X300®V and X400®V IRc feature SureFire’s ingenious V-Series head, a sealed, selectable head that contains both a white-light and infrared LED inside, to accommodate missions requiring visible and virtually non-visible (to the naked eye) illumination. By simply pushing and rotating a self-locking selector switch on the head, a user can switch from white-light to IR illumination (for use with night vision devices) on the fly, with no infrared filter required. The X400 model even boasts an infrared laser.

X300V_2014

The X300V generates 150 lumens of blinding, tactical-level light on its white-light setting and 120 mW of infrared illumination when set to IR mode. Light output from either mode is shaped by a proprietary optic—a Total Internal Reflection (TIR) lens—into a high-intensity beam with significant reach and sufficient peripheral illumination for maintaining situational awareness, crucial in military, law enforcement, and home-defense applications.

X400V

The highly anticipated X400V IRc generates the same high-intensity beam at identical outputs in white light and infrared as the X300V, but it also features a commercially available <0.7 mW infrared laser sight, suitable for force-on-force training and ideal for stealth operations using night vision devices. As with all laser-equipped SureFire X400® Weapon Lights, the X400V IRc’s laser-adjustment mechanism uses Nylok® screws that won’t back out from the effects of recoil. And because the IR laser is not visible to the naked eye, an amber-colored LED indicator illuminates whenever the laser is on, to help prevent unintended activation. X300V_1911_Oakley

Like all X-Series Weapon Lights, these new models are constructed of lightweight aerospace aluminum that’s hard anodized with a Mil-Spec finish and are O-ring and gasket sealed for added durability and weather resistance. The X300V weighs in at less than four ounces—including the weight of the two 123A lithium batteries that power it—while the X400V model is just under five ounces fully loaded, so neither model weighs down a weapon. One-finger activation is achieved via a push/toggle switch located on the rear of both lights; optional DG pistol grip and long-gun remote tape switching is also available. Both models attach quickly and securely to both Universal and MIL-STD-1913 (Picatinny) rails, and optional SureFire adapter mounts are available for several popular rail-less handgun makes and models.

X400V_SW_1

The X300V has an MSRP of $389, while the X400V IRc retails for $875. They are currently available for purchase through authorized SureFire dealers and will soon be available direct from SureFire by calling 800-828-8809 or by visiting www.surefire.com online.
