Tree-Go IZLID Pouch

Monday, March 12th, 2012

MATBOCK LLC is a burgeoning company that you will hear lots more of in the future. After our article the other day on the BE Meyers IZLID, we thought it would be a capital idea to introduce our readers to MATBOCK for a great option for actually carrying the thing. Remember, an IZLID resembles maybe a flashlight or a light saber, so some JTACs use slap flare pouches but this is WAY better. Rather than some makeshift, it’s actually designed for use with the IZLID and allows the user to quickly place it into action. You pull up on the IZLID to pull it from the pouch and then the cap falls free. When it’s in its pouch the bungeed cap keeps tension on the IZLID, holding it in place. Simple.

The IZLID is currently available in three flavors; 200P, 1000 and Ultra. MATBOCK offers a pouches for the 1000 which is currently the workhorse. They are working with BE Meyers on a solution for the Ultra.

The IZLID pouch is available with two attachment systems. One is Velcro and designed to fit under the cummerbund flap at the front of the armor. The other version is naturally, MOLLE compatible. Available in Desert Digital, MultiCam, UCP and Coyote from 500D Cordura. Made in USA!

BE Meyers IZLID Aiming Lasers

Thursday, March 8th, 2012

Used by every branch of the US military, the IZLID family of IR laser pointers and illuminators produced by BE Meyers. You’re probably quite familiar with their use by Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTAC) but these IR lasers provide a single solution for weapons aiming, target illumination, and communicating intent with other fire elements on the ground as well as in the air. The video above showcases footage from Iraq along with training ranges in the Southwestern US to highlight the IZLID 200P and the IZLID Ultra and how they enhance accuracy at longer ranges for crew served weapons in low light and night conditions. It also demonstrates the use of the IZLID family of products on helicopters for both door guns and installed weapons, and how the lasers can be used to communicate and coordinate Air Ground Integration.

Standard equipment for SOF elements and all JTACs, the IZLID line of IR lasers provides a critical tool to support long range weapon aiming, delivers unparalleled illumination for night time reconnaissance and surveillance, and is the standard tool for coordinating close air support.

Many JTACs carry two different IZLID products, the 195 mW IZLID 200P for immediate coordination with helicopters, and the 1,000 mW IZLID Ultra or IZLID 1000 for communication and directing aviation assets at greater distances.

Rugged enough to be used for weapon aiming on the M2 .50 Cal Machine Gun and mini guns, but light enough to be mounted on individual weapons or used by hand, the IZLID 200P and IZLID Ultra are versatile, dependable, and powerful IR lasers “battle field proven and ready to deliver a tactical advantage today.”

IZLIDs are also being used by both military and law enforcement Reconnaissance and Surveillance elements to illuminate targets of interest. The beam can be opened up to a flood and used to paint and illuminate an item for an IR camera system ground based or airborne.

AN/PEQ-16A Mini-IPIM (MIPIM) Light Upgrade

Monday, March 5th, 2012

SureFire is like an iceberg. You only get to see a little bit of what they are doing and they are always working on lots of cool stuff behind the scenes like these adapters for the AN/PEQ-16A Mini-IPIM (MIPIM).

They’ve developed two adapters. The first accepts a scout light head to the MIPIM giving you 200 lumens of illumination over the 100 lumen lamp that comes with the PEQ-16A.

The second adapter accepts the Vampire head which combines both white light (150 lumens) and IR (120 lumens) in a single piece. The user simply twists the lockout dial to choose the desired lamp.

As you can see, there are two variants of the Vampire light adapter. Variant 1 just accepts the light and Variant 2 features a small hole (that you can see in the photos) at the rear of the adapter to accept a SureFire remote tape switch. This will bypass the MIPIM’s controls and allow you to use the remote switch to control the light. One other advantage to adapting the Vampire head to the MIPIM is that you gain an eyesafe IR illuminator.

In the case of either style, the lights can still be controlled by the buttons on top or the MIPIM remote switch.

We know that SureFire follows SSD so if this is something you need, leave a comment here and they’ll see it.

Core Survival HEL-STAR 6

Thursday, February 23rd, 2012

Previously we wrote about the Core Survival HEL-STAR 5 which you can see in the photo above. It was designed specifically to work with the Gentex PM HALO helmet. It’s been used by a wide variety of military units. One of those DoD customers asked Core Survival to develop a new model that would increase lateral visibility. The result is the HEL-STAR 6.

For Core Survival HEL-STAR 6 is a natural progression of the HEL-STAR family, starting with HEL-STAR 4 and later evolving to the HEL-STAR 5. All three product lines were designed and built around user input, addressing user requirements.

It offers any combination of white, green, blue, red, and IR lights (either flashing or steady). Additionally, they offer variable flash rates and coded signals for IFF.

It can be turned on, while mounted and while wearing gloves. According to Core Survival the light also features, “Positive visual and tactile confirmation of ON/OFF and operating status with no guesswork.” Additionally, it is powered by a CR123 battery and Made in USA!

There are four models with different functions based on various user profiles.
HEL-STAR 6 Models
610 – Two Function
620 – Four Functions (Two Secure Firewalled, Two Overt Firewalled)
630 – Three Functions with secure lock out mode
640 – Four Functions (All for available with switches)

The button at the top of the light is either a nose plug or switch, depending on the model. It is used to change operating modes (e.g., overt/covert). The units are preprogrammed at the plant.

BE Meyers Introduces 2 New DevicesADS Tactical

Tuesday, February 7th, 2012

Specializing in weapons accessories and illumination equipment, BE Meyers is constantly innovating and introducing new products. Here are two of their latest designs which will be well suited for Law Enforcement applications.

When you think BE Meyers you generally think military. But they have developed the new GLARE® Enforcer which is the only non-lethal visual disruption laser FDA approved for law enforcement organizations. This green laser relies on Eye Safe® technology which automatically adjusts the output power depending on the target distance, ensuring the delivery of maximum safe power at all times while maintaining the safety of all nearby personnel against accidental eye injury. It is effective beyond 2 km. Within 500m, it produces an overpowering visual effect that deters hostile action and dissuades further approach. The device produces a large target spot, making it easy to aim at moving objects and providing coverage of multiple individuals simultaneously.

The CIRIS® long-range infrared illuminator is so powerful it makes night mode cameras night vision capable. Despite its power (1,000 mW), the device is completely eye safe when used at distances greater than one meter. The CIRIS® is capable of illuminating subjects at distances over 600 meters.

BattleView – Another Game Changer from TNVC

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

Tactical Night Vision Company is the exclusive distributor for BattleView, a system that is going to save a LOT of lives in the field.

For the first time, a medic can now stick an IV into a vein with the use of a NVD, but without the fear of missing a vein. This patented vascular illumination device uses IR energy to penetrate tissue and make the vein “glow” as seen in the attached picture.
