Emdom-MM 308 Immediate Access Pouch

The 308 IAP is a MOLLE compatible, low profile, truly open-top magazine pouch designed for most .308 rifle magazines. The 308 IAP offers multi-level mounting (high, medium, low) on a belt / MOLLE platform. The 308 IAP fits FN FAL, M14 / M1A, Magpul PMAG 20LR, SCAR 17 (heavy), KAC SR-25 and other similar magazines. Note – It will not fit HK91 magazines.

I think open tops are great, so long as they provide for retention. With the IAP series of pouches, EMDOM offers tripe redundancy.

1) There is a 1.5” wide elastic sewn around the outside of the 308 IAP, providing the main elastic retention.
2) The inner surface of the back panel is lined with Hypalon (rubber coated material) which provides frictional retention between the magazine and the back panel.
3) A thin layer of foam is sandwiched inside the back panel. When the magazine is inserted, the foam is compressed, and pushes back on the magazine, providing additional frictional retention.

This modern take on the WWII British MKVII gas mask bag made famous by Indiana Jones by Zulu Nylon Gear caught our eye.

Constructed of double layer 1000D Cordura the interior features a large loop field on the rear wall for mounting various hook backed accessories. The front interior features a slip pocket with hook and loop closure.

Available in Coyote and made in Chicago, it’s simple and unobtrusive. Well done Joel!

Warrior Expo East – FirstSpear

Two new products for FirstSpear include the Tactical Hand-Warmer and M4 3 Mag Ranger Shingle.

The Tactical Hand-Warmer can be attached directly to your armor, hanging below your pouches or using its own simple waist belt. It has pockets for chemical handwarmers and can be cinched tight so that it takes up less space.

The M4 3 Mag Ranger Shingle sits closer to the vest than any other shingle I’ve seen. Additionally, it’s lined with high friction materials in order to ensure magazine retention.

Velocity Systems

I just met with Velocity Systems in here Virginia Beach at 1st Annual Beach Blast and they showed me an example of their licensed Helium Whisper pouches. Here can see a traditional MOLLE construction utility pouch compared to a Velocity Systems design incorporating Helium Whisper backer construction along with their design philosophy and material selection.

The traditional construction pouch weighs .43 lbs.

The Velocity Systems design incorporating their features as well as Helium Whisper literally weighs half as much at .215 lbs.

These products as well as the new Velocity Utility Belt (seen on Gear Scout) will be available through Velocity Systems and Mayflower Research & Consulting’s redesigned ecommerce site in about 45 days.

As you can see, I weighed it and it comes it at 254 grams. Just half a pound.

New TreeGO IZLID Ultra Pouch from MATBOCK

MATBOCK has been selling their TreeGO IZLID pouches for awhile now. Based on user feedback, they made a few improvements. They recently caught us up on the latest changes.

Without altering the simple, easy to use design we went back to the drawing board to add a few features. 1st being the small retention pocket that is specifically designed to carry the Gear Keeper RT4, which is sold when you order “with retention” from our website. 2nd we made the opening slightly larger to allow IZLIDs with the protective flip cap – the original design forced the operator to remove that plastic cap. 3rd the cap is redesigned to ensure operators can pull the IZLID out of the pouch with one hand without unbuckling or disconnecting any latches (single part draw). Our Tree-GO IZLID Ultra pouch is now available on our website, but we also updated our Tree-GO IZLID 1000 to match these 3 new features. No matter which IZLID you use the pouches are design to ensure an easy transition (one less thing operators have to worry about when learning a new systems – having to learn how to get it out).
