Americana Pipedream x Hub City Outdoors R-1 Recon Rig

The R-1 is a Collab rig from Americana Pipedream and Hub City Outdoors. As you can see, the prototypes are in Omani pattern, a variant of DPM camouflage.

Based on the IDF R-1 Recon Rig (most commonly used with armored recon units) it has been updated to work with the Ohio Ordnance HCAR.

It holds 8 mags or 6 mags and a radio. The front has full, back Velcro for add-on accessories like a map pouch or a dangler.

On the original Israeli version the back pack is small so they decided to base theirs on the USMC FILBE hydration carrier, but with some upgrades.

– back face padding
– moved the drain hole to the back
– a small zipper pocket added to flap
– a hydration hanger designed to work best with the Source 1L hydration bladder

They also added small wings to each side to mimic the original which had dedicated pouches for M18 style Smoke grenades. This new version features 3 rows by 2 columns of PALS webbing which can be used for spare mags or a GP pouch.

Front panels will be available in, STANAG, AK, and Battle Rifle mags. The back pack will have options for a 1L or taller 2L reservoir, with or without side wings.

FirstSpear Friday Focus: OEM Spotlight – Aquila International

In this week’s Friday Focus, we’re introducing the American Made, Berry Compliant Multi-Mission Duffle, a tailored solution developed by Aquila International (AQI) and FirstSpear OEM program.

The Multi-Mission Duffle is a mil spec, versatile pack/bag engineered to provide improved capability and increased durability in a multitude of operations. AQI’s intent was to create a bag for military, agency, and law enforcement units to utilize in a variety of mission sets: active shooter go-to kit, medical pack and patrol sustainment bag. The 6/12™ panels on the front and back exterior allow the operator to attach quick access, mission-determinant pockets to the bag and works exceptionally well with any combination of FirstSpear 6/9™, 6/12™ and traditional MOLLE and Pals pocket systems.

The Multi-Mission Duffle features four, stow-capable, FirstSpear 2” Tubes® Buckles on the top and bottom of the bag, providing attachment points for padded shoulder straps for improved mobility and operational capability. This feature allows the operator to quickly configure the duffle into a sling carried pack (utilizing the top Tubes® Buckles) or backpack (utilizing the bottom Tubes® Buckles) and allows for quick unbuckling when ditching the bag is necessary.

Ample exterior storage is provided for quick access to items both, small and large. The storage capabilities of the Multi-Mission Duffle are well thought out, considering both functionality, easy access, and necessity. The top cover provides convenient storage for shoulder straps when transitioning between handle, backpack and sling carry mode configurations. It’s also a great place to shed and stow a layer when you’re on the move.

The interior of AQI’s Multi-Misison Duffle is loaded with storage options and capabilities. Multiple sleeves along the wall can hold a large volume of items requiring organization, including a padded laptop/large tablet sleeve and lanyard with HK hook. The large main compartment is spacious and durable. If the operator requires more flexibility, an interior panel accommodates additional pocket attachment to include Ragnar.

SHOT Show 22 – Blue Force Gear

Now available for order from Blue Force Gear are two great products they previewed in 2022.

Offered in M4 and SR25 versions the Ten-Speed SF Chest Rig is a zippered split front design with four stackable magazine pouches. You’ll notice in the photo that there are pouches stacked in front of the Ten-Speed mag pouches. Those are BFG Low Pro GP Pouches which were designed specifically for this chest rig, but you can add other pouches if you’d prefer. The shoulder straps are padded and offer cable management.

Around the mannequin’s waist is the Two-4 Waist Bag. This waist bag can be worn via the integrated strap or attached as a dangler to the front of a plate carrier. It features a water resistant zippered opening with integrated ten-speed tourniquet storage on the lid. Inside there are slots for organization while externally there is PALS webbing made from loop material. At the rear there is a slot which will accept sideways mounted mini tripods.

SHOT Show 23 – Crye Precision R-Series

Although the R-Series was soft launched during last year’s SOFIC, it’s big debut is at this year’s SHOT Show.

Using the new JPC-R as its core, the R-Series is a modular and scalable system which is highly configurable. They’ve also worked to balance weight and durability, particularly for the loads carried by the SOF personnel they worked with the develop the system. The other thing the R-Series does is accommodate a wide variety of plates and sizes with one vest.

Another feature of the JPC-R is that the front panel remains a standard size and the rear panel comes in different sizing options to accommodate the wearer’s girth.

This new front panel standardizes the amount of load carriage real estate across your force, regardless of individual stature. This means that smaller troops will be able to carry the same gear as those with wider chests.
