HSGI – Ambidextrous Multipurpose Pouch

Wednesday, August 28th, 2019

SWANSBORO, N.C., Aug. 28, 2019 – High Speed Gear®, maker of Battle-Proven Tactical Gear™, recently released its newest pouch, the Ambidextrous Multipurpose Pouch (AMP), which is an excellent solution for medical equipment, magazines or other items commonly needed on an equipment belt.

The AMP is a versatile, double-ended pouch that works perfectly as a small IFAK pouch or as a general-purpose pouch. The AMP fits medical supplies, two 5.56 magazines, a poncho and survival gear, or other similarly-sized items. Additionally, the pouch features dual openings, allowing easy access from both ends or with either hand, and can be mounted vertically on MOLLE and either vertically or horizontally on belts. A pull tab assists in removing contents and adjustable shock cord allows the user to compress the contents or attach external items.

“The AMP was designed, like many of our other TACOs® and pouches, to allow our users flexibility with the equipment they carry,” said Bill Babboni, HSGI® vice president of sales and operations. “Traditional pouches are great, but having several mounting options along with dual closures gives our customers that extra level of functionality and dynamic use they’ve come to expect of High Speed Gear®.”

For more than 20 years, High Speed Gear® has been dedicated to building the best American-made tactical gear with distinct and innovative products such as the TACO® and the Sure-Grip Padded Belt®. Our products are designed for the highest level of comfort, functionality, versatility and are always user driven to meet the operational needs of a wide variety of end users.

Made from 1000D Cordura, this waistpack will last you a lifetime. It features three zippered compartments which are packed with escape and recovery or medical essentials. ThirdBlockGear – Advanced Field Sling Bag

Monday, August 19th, 2019

The Advanced Field Sling Bag was developed by a friend of mine for personal use while working initially overseas, and increasingly here at home. He wanted a bag that would keep his most needed equipment right at his fingertips.

His work requires the use of electronics and those often need to be recharged in the field.

Above is a layout of the kit he uses to teach classes.

And in case your interested in the types of electronics he uses, here are a couple of images of something he is currently working on.

But back to the ASF. Here are some key design points:
• Comfortable to wear for hours, in hot climates.
• Quick access to all your gear, without taking the bag off.
• Adjustable, ambidextrous, and quick-release design.
• Designed to fit power, communications, and sustainment gear.
• Extremely durable and rugged.
• 100% US Materials. 100% US manufactured.

I’ve had one for awhile and feel blessed anytime Jason honors me by allowing me access to his work. While it’s a very specialized piece of kit with a very specific layout, it has already been fielded to several organizations. Learn more at thirdblockgear.com/shop/afs-bag.

Mission Spec Releases the Gibborim Plate Carrier

Friday, August 16th, 2019

Mission Spec (KS) has released the Gibborim Plate Carrier™. A lightweight, high mobility carrier that is ready to accept industry standard chest rigs such as Mission Spec’s own MagRack5™ or others.

The name of the game with the Gibborim Plate Carrier is “less”.  “This has been a multi-year development and each new prototype became more and more simple. If you need 14 magazines, then this is not the carrier for you,” says Brent Keltner of Mission Spec.  The design is meant to be as simple as possible but keep the rugged toughness and abrasion resistance of a high denier material.  1000D or 500D depending on your chosen pattern/color.

The carrier is excellent for mounted or vehicle operations.  There are no plastic buckles up top to get caught or hung up on vehicle interiors.  Shoulder strap adjustment is done on the internal areas of the rear plate bag.  This gives the user an infinite adjustment for length and angle of the shoulder straps making it possible to fit an individual with broad or sloped shoulders.

Vertical PALS on the front along with loop Velcro sets the Gibborim Plate Carrier up to work with just about any industry standard chest rig that follows the standard buckle pattern.

The ‘wings’ or cummerbund does have traditional PALS webbing for attaching iFAK-like items but is located much higher than other carriers. This was done for two reasons; 1) to keep side mounted pouches from interfering with a user’s pistol draw or other first line gear, 2) in the even a teammate must drag the user by his/her carrier the cummerbund will help pull from under the arms instead of shoving the front plate into their throat or chin.

The front (male) side buckles can be moved to any one of two positions (heights) via the elastic retention anchors.  This position impacts the ride height of the rear plate bag just like Mission Spec’s EC2™ and AC2™ plate carriers.  With this feature the user can adjust the height of the rear plate by 2”.

100% design, tested, and manufactured in the United States, the Gibborim Plate Carrier is shipping now from MissionSpec.com (free shipping to a US address or APO) or other Mission Spec Authorized Dealers.  As with most Mission Spec items, this carrier is capable of being custom modified to your unit or department needs.

MOLLE Instructional Video

Thursday, August 15th, 2019

In the late 1990s the US Marine Corps were the initial adopters of the Modular Lightweight Load Carrying Equipment or MOLLE. Imagine being a Marine PFC and getting issued a big plastic bag full of pouches, with straps flopping everywhere, along with a VHS tape and told to have it all ready for a ruck march the next morning.

OV Innovations uploaded a copy to YouTube. It’s an absolute must-see for any serious gear historian.

Medical Assault Combat Belt System awarded NSNs

Wednesday, August 14th, 2019

Medical Belt with Choices of Belt Pads, Pouches and Harness – designed to replace the 18D’s Medical Assault Chest Harness.

NSN: 8465-01-675-2118
NSN: 8465-01-675-2107

Previously with too much medical gear in an inaccessible pack, half of the medic’s load needs to be moved to an easy to access belt pouch system. The S.O.TECH Medical Belt System provides the medic with a choice of pouches mounted to a load bearing belt which can be suspended optionally from a shoulder harness (included). The load bearing belt is comprised of three elements, a strength rated safety belt, a contoured padded MOLLE over belt, and a slim padded MOLLE over belt (note that there is one safety (riggers cobra belt) and two sleeves per kit). This provides options for long duration use and for short term low profile use. The belts have optional anchor points for the harnesses’ quick disconnect buckles (some medics will want a harness, others will prefer it without a shoulder harness). The belts are designed so the medic can spin the belt around the waist placing the needed pouches to the front. * Belts are sized small/medium or large/X-large.
