Adept Armor Unveils Ivoryguard, an Ultra-Lightweight Foam Redefining Ballistic and Impact Protection

Friday, March 7th, 2025

Now integrated into the Storm Foundation Plate, Ivoryguard™ enhances durability and energy absorption while making the ultra-light NIJ-III/RF1-rated armor even lighter.

Denison, TX. (March 2025) – Adept Armor, pioneers in next-gen protective solutions, today launched Ivoryguard™: a breakthrough foam technology that defies conventional engineering limits. At just 0.068 gm/cc, it’s lighter than silica aerogel – often called “the world’s lightest solid” – yet tougher than traditional heavy-duty foams used in armor, helmet padding, and other high-impact applications.

In head-to-head tests, Ivoryguard outperformed leading materials by 20-360 percent in weight-adjusted energy absorption. Even that alone positions Ivoryguard as a major innovation in high-performance superfoams – as the lightest heavy-duty foam – but raw performance is only half the story:

Engineered for extremes: Far less temperature-sensitive than the competition, Ivoryguard maintains performance in environments from -40°C to scorching desert heat, and is currently being investigated for use in stratospheric drones operating at -50°C in ultra-high-UVR conditions.

Built to last: Closed-cell foam structure repels moisture and chemicals while staying odor-free.

Outstanding engineering properties: 180 percent elongation, 2.5 MPa tensile strength, and tear resistance exceeding 45 N/cm – a combination of properties which makes for a material that’s ultra-plastic yet damage resistant.

Adept’s flagship RF1 Storm Foundation Plate now integrates Ivoryguard, shaving another 0.1 lb. off an already featherlight design (down to 2.3 lb.) while maintaining combat-proven 0.9” thickness and NIJ III/RF1 ballistic rating. The result? Military-grade protection that feels effortless to wear, with further reduced backface deformation upon impact.

While born for ballistic challenges, Ivoryguard is sparking a materials revolution.

Aerospace: Ultra-light insulation and structural support for high-altitude drones.

Automotive: Durable crash absorption that doesn’t compromise mileage.

Sports: Helmets and torso protection pads that are lighter, more durable, and easier to care for.

It will become the material of choice for all those who demand protection that offers the best performance at the lowest weight, combined with extreme endurance and top-tier comfort characteristics.

“Ivoryguard closes the ‘impossible gap’ between weight, protection, and resilience,” said Jake Ganor, CEO at Adept Armor. “This isn’t just better foam; it’s a new design language for safety-critical industries.”

Adept is now offering Ivoryguard samples to qualified partners. Defense teams, engineers, and manufacturers ready to leapfrog competitors are invited to reach out.

Enforce Tac 25 – Schöffel TEC

Tuesday, March 4th, 2025

Schöffel TEC is well known for their use protective clothing for motorsports and Law Enforcement and they have produced a conceptual uniform for Germany’s Special Forces, the Kommando Specialkräfte (KSK).

Seen here is their winter combat shirt and combat pant in KSKs distinctive MutiTarn camouflage pattern which applies MultiCam colors to the National Flecktarn pattern.

It is made from Softshell GORE-TEX PYRAD fabric for FR performance along with a mesh at the torso with a proprietary ceramic appliqué.

It is paired with a pair of combat pants in the same PYRAD fabric with some interesting features like this zippered pocket which can be accessed while kneeling.

Seen here is an alternative combat uniform prototype.

Enforce Tac 25 – New Cordura Laminate from Flimmuur Tactical x British Tactical

Tuesday, February 25th, 2025

Flimmuur Tactical shows me a new 500D Cordura laminate they have developed which will be used by British Tactical.

The new laminate at the rear of the fabric is lighter than what is currently seen and acts like the water repellent coating. Using this fabric you don’t have to tape internal seams.

Unfortunately, an image doesn’t do it justice and you’ve really got to compare pouches made with this and with traditionally coated fabric to feel the difference in weight.

I’ll post more info once it’s available.

Strike Industries Launches Next Generation Textile and Gear Initiative

Friday, February 14th, 2025

Las Vegas, February 14, 2025 – Strike Industries is launching a new division dedicated to revolutionizing smart textile technology for combat, duty, and first responder use. This effort is made possible through Strike’s most recent collaboration with Little King Global, one of the world’s most advanced fabric developers and is a major supplier of smart high performance textiles to major athletic brands including Nike and Under Armour.

This new division’s key mission is to help develop next generation fabric technologies tailored for tactical operations, enhancing comfort, durability, and performance in the field. After months of intensive research and development, we are excited to introduce two breakthrough innovations which are now available for licensing and collaboration with industry leaders and defense forces.

Silent Magazine Pouches

Traditional hook-and-loop (Velcro) fasteners have provided excellent security for magazine pouches and a variety of load bearing equipment for many years. However, the noise they generate can compromise stealth during critical operations.

“Taco” and kydex insert style solutions have been a major improvement but they still leave some room for the possibility of magazines or items falling out. There’s also still some sound inevitably made when removing mags or other gear.

To address these concerns we’ve created a Silent Magazine Pouch which features a 3D Sheer Force Distribution Design (Patent Pending) that completely eliminates all sound when the cover flap is lifted to access your mags or other items while maintaining a strong and reliable fastening performance.

Reactive Camouflage

Strike has also developed a prototype, which was first displayed at 2025 SHOT Show, of a UV Reactive Camouflage fabric that enables soldiers to have their uniform adapt its color based on the UV exposure in their environment – naturally enhancing concealment in the matter of seconds.

Future developments will focus on expanding the reactive properties based on additional environmental factors, including temperature, humidity, and thermal signature management to further aid the modern soldier’s ability to survive and effectively fight in various combat situations.

Join Us In Shaping the Future of Next Generation Textiles and Gear Strike Industries’ Next Generation Textiles and Gear Division is committed to pushing the boundaries of textile technology and is seeking collaborative partnerships to pursue new solutions for our Armed Forces and Allies.

UK Government Leaders Unveil Pincroft’s £1.5m Military Textile Printing Expansion

Tuesday, February 11th, 2025

(Adlington, United Kingdom): Global leader in military fabric printing, dyeing and finishing, Pincroft, has reinforced its position in camouflage fabric manufacturing with a £1.5 million investment in cutting-edge rotary printing technology. During a high-profile visit from UK government officials, the company also announced it has brought rotary laser engraving technology in-house, further strengthening its domestic capabilities in camouflage fabric production.

(L-R) John Vareldzis (CEO), Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP, Maria Eagle MP, Mike Collins (MD).

The event was attended by prominent figures including Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP, Speaker of the House of Commons and Member of Parliament for Chorley, Maria Eagle MP, Minister of State for Defence Procurement and Industry, and Pincroft’s CEO John Vareldzis, alongside Managing Director Mike Collins. In a symbolic moment marking the company’s military printing expansion, the officials cut the ribbon in front of a small group of directors and industry guests, underscoring the significance of UK-based expertise in military textiles. Discussions focused on the importance of reshoring camouflage fabric production, reinforcing national supply chains and the wider benefits for local employment.

Sir Lindsay Hoyle said: “This is a major investment creating high quality jobs, but most of all, producing the best camouflage in the world being printed here. We look forward to the United Kingdom wearing printed uniforms from Adlington.”

Maria Eagle MP added: “The impact of having the capability in the UK to make uniforms to these standards is quite clear. It means that you can keep the intellectual property of how you’re designing your uniforms local, instead of them being sent around the world. To have the capability to do that here is a very powerful sovereign strength.”

John Vareldzis commented: “The scale of today’s visit and the calibre of attendees demonstrate the strategic importance of this investment—to ourselves, the local area and the UK. With many decades of military printing experience, we now have one of the best rotary printing technologies available. This positions us to meet our customers’ evolving needs, explore new markets and offer greater versatility, including lighter fabrics.”

Mike Collins highlighted: “This investment presents a huge opportunity for growth. By adding this additional equipment, we have increased our annual capacity to over eight million metres, ensuring we are well-positioned to meet growing customer demand.”

Pincroft’s new investment includes a Rotascreen TG by Austrian manufacturer Zimmer, with 12 printheads and a magnet system to ensure greater precision, faster reorders and uniform coverage. To further enhance production, Pincroft has also brought screen-making in-house with the SPGPrints bestLEN direct rotary engraving system. This allows for greater flexibility, creativity and speed when producing new designs for customers – from concept to printed fabric.

Ocean State Innovations (OSI) Announces Strategic Partnership with Murdock Webbing Company

Tuesday, January 14th, 2025

Portsmouth, RI – Ocean State Innovations and 1947LLC are proud to announce their new partnership with Murdock Webbing. OSI and 1947 will be the exclusive international distributors of Jacquard-woven MultiCam® webbing.

Murdock Webbing is the only Crye Precision approved and licensed source for Jacquard-woven MultiCam®. As part of the Jacquard-woven process, Murdock utilizes pre-colored yarns. Why is that important? This means all Murdock Jacquard-woven MultiCam® products are “two sided” – without a hefty “two sided” upcharge. Because the color is applied to yarns prior to weaving, the pattern runs all the way through the webbing. Unlike printed product, the pattern is not lost to wear and abrasion over time and use. Murdock Jacquard-woven MultiCam® means quality and value.

“We’re proud to represent Murdock Webbing’s MultiCam® Jacquard webbing on an international scale, delivering a premium product that ensures customers receive the quality and authenticity they require in the iconic MultiCam® pattern” said Ben Galpen, Co-Founder of 1947LLC and OSI partner.
