TD Inc Severe Duty Optic Clamp and Severe Duty Battery Cap for Aimpoint ACRO P2

Tuesday, August 8th, 2023

TangoDown® Inc. announces the release of two new products to enhance the Aimpoint® ACRO® P2 optic:  Severe Duty Optic Clamp (AASC-01) and Severe Duty Battery Cap (P2-CAP).

The Severe Duty Optic Clamp was designed to create a secure attachment between the optic and mount plate, which eliminates optic movement under the roughest field conditions.  Installation is quick and easy using a flat blade bit found on most multi-tools.  The AASC-01 is machined from 4130 steel and finished with zinc phosphate finish for all weather durability.

The Severe Duty Battery Cap was created to increase positive battery access with deep radiused coin slots.  When used in conjunction with the TangoDown® AALG-001/002 lens guards, the raised rim of the cap prevents impact damage to the membrane switch.  The P2-CAP is made of 6061 T6 aluminum with a satin black Type III hard coat anodize, which matches the P2 body.

Army Accepts Prototypes of the Most Advanced Version of IVAS

Friday, August 4th, 2023

This week, the Army accepted delivery of the first 20 prototypes of the Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS) 1.2 variant. The milestone is the latest step in the process of getting the most advanced version of the situational awareness system in the hands of Soldiers.

Microsoft delivered the 20 prototypes to Project Manager Soldier Warrior (PM SWAR), the program office within Program Executive Office (PEO) Soldier responsible for overseeing the development of IVAS.

IVAS is a single platform that features an all-weather fighting goggle and a mixed reality heads-up display that integrates next-generation situational awareness tools and high-resolution simulations to provide Soldiers with improved mobility and lethality, during the day or at night. IVAS provides Soldiers with a single device to fight, rehearse and train.

“This is a really big deal for the program,” said Col. Anthony Gibbs, PM SWAR. “A little over a year ago we did an operational test with version 1.0 of the system. We learned a lot. We got a lot of good Soldier feedback. So last summer we came back and restructured the program. We took those lessons learned and all that Soldier feedback and in less than a year have what we now call version 1.2 of the system.”

Soldiers and squads will use IVAS to gain a fuller understanding of their operational environment. Its enhanced low-light and thermal sensors improve target identification. IVAS integrates with ground and air platform sensors, allowing Soldiers to see outside vehicles before dismounting into a hazardous situation. IVAS provides 3D mapping and navigation capabilities and can ingest data from Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.

“[IVAS] complements what’s currently in the Army’s inventory while expanding close combat force capabilities by leveraging the digital architecture for shared awareness and computing at the edge,” said Lt. Col. Denny Dresch, Product Manager IVAS. “IVAS provides a first-person augmented reality perspective that enables the integrating of operational data such as routes and control measures into the person’s field of view.”

The system’s embedded training tool, the Squad Immersive Virtual Trainer (SiVT), also provides Soldiers objective-based scenarios and battle drills through holographic and mixed-reality imagery, giving units the flexibility to train their squads with minimal resources.

IVAS 1.2 builds and improves on the capabilities of previous versions of IVAS (IVAS 1.0 and IVAS 1.1). Specifically, IVAS 1.2 incorporates reliability upgrades, features an improved low-light sensor and introduces a new form factor with a lower profile heads-up display (HUD) with a distributed counterweight for improved user interface and comfort.

IVAS 1.2 also has the capability to attach to a combat helmet with a “hinged” device to allow Soldiers to raise and lower the display, similar to traditional night vision goggles.

IVAS 1.0 and IVAS 1.1 will primarily be issued to schoolhouses and operational units for use in training to support the Army’s Campaign of Learning. The close combat force will receive IVAS 1.2.

“Anybody who has had IVAS on, even the early versions, knows that this is a transformative capability and really has the potential to change the way that we fight,” said Gibbs. “This new version, 1.2, we think it’s really going to hit the mark in terms of what we need to put out there for our Soldiers to give them the situational awareness and the leap-ahead capability they need to stay ahead of our peers.”

The 20 prototypes will be featured at a User Assessment in August, during which two squads of Soldiers will use IVAS 1.2 to measure the system’s performance and ensure engineering efforts are on schedule and meeting design objectives.

New RCR Ruggedized Closed Reflex with RMR Footprint

Tuesday, August 1st, 2023

Trijicon, Inc., the global provider of innovative aiming solutions to the military, law enforcement, and personal-defense minded individuals, is proud to introduce the new Trijicon RCR™ or Ruggedized Closed Reflex. An extremely durable closed emitter optic, the RCR meets the demanding standards for military and law enforcement applications where a compact sealed emitter optic is needed.

Based on the award-winning, industry-standard Trijicon Ruggedized Miniature Reflex (RMR®), the RCR is waterproof to 66 ft., and able to achieve unprecedented levels of mechanical and electronic robustness. Built with 7075-T6 aluminum using the RMR patented shape, the RCR absorbs recoil and other impacts and diverts stresses away from the lenses.

Beyond the shape, the RCR also shares the RMR’s footprint. Employing Trijicon’s new, innovative capstan screw design, the RCR mounts directly on any slide or plate that currently accepts an RMR. The capstan screw system is easy to use, and testing has proven it to be incredibly robust, while also preventing over-torquing, cross threading, and stripping out of the screw head. The RCR is also the same deck height as the RMR, allowing for use with RMR-compatible iron sights.

Brightness settings are adjusted manually, with 10 brightness settings to choose from, including three night vision options and one super bright option. The LED illumination is powered by one CR2032 battery. The battery easily top-loads into the unit without the need to remove the RCR from the firearm and re-confirm zero after a battery change. Not that a user will need to change batteries very often. A single CR2032 battery will provide an amazing 6 years of continuous use at brightness setting 5 of 10 at 70°F.

A true-color, multi-coated lens provides wide-band light transmission to ensure minimal change in target area color. The 3.25 MOA red dot is easily adjustable for elevation and windage and no special tools are needed. Adjustments are at 1 MOA per click, with a total of 150 MOA travel possible.

The RCR includes upgraded electronics featuring ruggedized battery contacts and electronics to ensure performance and survivability in harsh environments. Adjustment buttons are distinctive and easy-to-use.

The Made-in-USA RCR is ready for immediate adoption by any user who needs the durability and footprint of the RMR in a miniature sealed emitter reflex optic.

Odyssey 2023 Part 2 – Primary Arms Optics Releases Two New Rifle Scopes and Classic Red Dot

Monday, July 31st, 2023

HOUSTON, TEXAS—Primary Arms Optics has released three new optics as part of Odyssey 2023 Part 2: an FDE PLx® 1-8x24mm FFP Compact Rifle Scope, a 2nd Generation SLx® 3-18x50mm FFP Rifle Scope, and a Classic Series® RD-25 Red Dot.

In January, Primary Arms Optics launched Odyssey 2023 as a grand reveal for their 2023 catalog. Now, Primary Arms Optics is updating Odyssey with a ‘Part 2’, announcing three additional optics now available for purchase!

The first optic announced is the 2nd generation of SLx 3-18x50mm FFP Rifle Scopes, a comprehensive upgrade for one of Primary Arms Optics’ most popular long-range optics. This upgrade includes an optical redesign with enhanced clarity, definition, and performance across the board. The scope also has all-new precision turrets, guaranteeing accurate tracking for precision at extreme distances.

The second optic announced is the FDE variant of their best-selling PLx 1-8x24mm FFP Compact Rifle Scope. Originally released in 2022, the PLx 1-8x24mm FFP Compact Rifle Scope has become a best-selling addition to the premium LPVO market. Measuring under 9.3 inches and 17 ounces, this scope is one of the smallest on the market, yet it offers superior optical performance with a wide field of view. Codenamed ‘Peanut Butter Pickle’, this newest variant of this scope has all the same outstanding features but with a sleek, low-signature FDE finish. This optic is currently available with limited pre-release supply.

Finally, the new Classic Series RD-25 red dot brings the enhanced speed and precision of a 25mm aperture to a new, low price point. Driven by value, the Classic Series RD-25 is rugged, reliable, and comes with its own QD mount, all while remaining affordable to any budget. Like all Primary Arms Optics products, it comes with a leading lifetime warranty and commitment to customer satisfaction.

Combined, all three optics offer new value and functionality for their price point. In addition, Odyssey 2023 Part Two includes information on two new accessory mounts for the MicroPrism series: the MR-12 and MDOM. The MR-12 is a 12 o’clock piggyback reflex mount that integrates directly with the factory MicroPrism mount. The MDOM is an offset micro red dot mount, which replaces the factory mount’s keeper for a lightweight, yet durable canted optic platform. Both accessory mounts are now available for purchase from Primary Arms Optics dealers.

“After the launch of Odyssey 2023 at the beginning of the year, our customers asked for new optics, variants, and accessory options,” says Stephen Morgan, Director of Product Marketing at Primary Arms Optics. “These releases reflect the overwhelming majority of our customer requests. We love building what the people want, and we hope you are as excited about Odyssey Part 2 as we are!”

Parashooter Gear – NOD Lock

Sunday, July 23rd, 2023

The NOD Lock is a simple, quick attach, non-breakaway NVG lanyard. Using a laser cut piece of 500D laminate, the NOD Lock attaches to the front bolt on either side of your helmet.

They chose to use a buckle as a means to attach/detach the lanyard because it is easy to manipulate while wearing your helmet, with gloves on and in the dark. The simple “no sew” construction also means it is about half the price of comparable lanyards.
