Long before there was a Mystery Ranch or even a Dana Designs, there was Kletterwerks. Although short lived, it was Dana Gleason’s first pack company. And now, it’s back. At least, after a fashion. Kletterwerks is the baby of the Dana Gleason III, better known as D3. It’s envisioned as an update to the original line but from a lifestyle angle rather than hardcore outdoor. The initial run, already sold out, will premiere in Japan. We can’t wait to see what they’ve cooked up.

I picked up some tasc Performance boxer briefs over Christmas break and really like them. Now, I’ve picked up the Blaze SS Crew and I love it. It combines materials and design to produce a comfortable shirt with a very soft hand.
Manufactured from tasc’s Performance Jersey and FlowMesh fabrics, the Blaze short sleeve crew neck t-shirt is a great choice for PT. The jersey knit (55% Organic Cotton, 40% Viscose from Bamboo, 5% Elastane) is super comfy and the mesh is still a tight enough weave that there aren’t holes you can see straight through yet remains very breathable. The mesh vent ingenuously wraps like a raglan sleeve around the top of the shoulder forming a yoke across the upper back and then down into the armpit. But then, the sleeve attaches like a standard t-shirt. Flat seams (even on the body) ensure comfort, even under a pack. The Blaze is also generously cut for plenty of ventilation. The design is topped off with a great narrow crew neck with plenty of elasticity that won’t bacon neck.
It also features UPF 50+ protection from the sun as well as anti-odor and moisture wicking properties.
Available in Heather Gray, Gunmetal, Ultra Blue and Navy. Only the Heather Gray is two-tone. Sizes Small – XXLarge.

We love hammocks but let’s face it, they are kind of cramped. But not anymore, at least now that Tentsile is on the scene. The advantages are obvious; stay up, off of the ground and avoid pests, water, dangerous animals and other threats.
They offer shelters to accommodate groups ranging in size from 2 – 8 persons. Tentsile will work with you to build to your requirements but generally, the larger versions of these super hammocks follow a three-pointed design with individual sleeping areas radiating out from a communal porch.
Tentsile shelters aren’t for every environment but if the conditions are right, they sure do look like a lot of fun.

Whether you’re out to be the Grey Man or just looking for something cool to wear off-duty, Mission Workshop’s new Arkiv System Bags might be just the thing for you. Some have called the system it a new version of MOLLE but we’ll just call it what it is, a pocket attachment system.

It seems that since the turn of this latest century every year we find ourselves celebrating the centennial of one American institution after another. This year is no different. In 1911 outdoorsman LL Bean “invented” the Maine Hunting Boot by combining shoe rubbers with 7-1/2″ leather tops to keep his feet dry while hunting. Before long others wanted the boots and in 1912 he sent out his first mailer. The rest is history.
LL Bean is commemorating their 100th anniversary in a big way by producing a line of reproduction products that look like they’ll give you another 100 years of service.
