Team Safariland Dominates at IPSC National Championship, IDPA National Championship and NRA World Shooting Championship

ONTARIO, Calif. – Safariland congratulates Team Safariland members Maggie Reese, Julie Golob, Robert Vogel and Rob Leatham for their triumphs at the 2016 IPSC Nationals held in Frostproof, Fla. from September 17-18. In addition to claiming a title at IPSC, Vogel dominated the day before at the 2016 IDPA National Championship hosted in Cresson, Texas between September 15-16. Simultaneously, Doug Koenig won top honors at the NRA World Shooting Championship in Glengary, W. Va, from September 15-17.

At IPSC, Reese and Golob claimed first and second place in the Ladies Classic Division, respectively. This marks the second consecutive year that Team Safariland held the top two positions in Ladies Classic. Last year, Golob captured first place for her inaugural IPSC Ladies National Title, while this year the teammates switched positions, with Reese securing her first IPSC National win. Both Reese and Golob hope to continue to represent with outstanding performances at the 2017 IPSC World Shoot.

“I trained intensively for this match knowing it would be challenging with paper and steel at distances over 20 yards, moving targets, strong-hand and weak-hand shooting, even prone positions,” said Reese. “Trusting Safariland to keep my guns and gear securely in place is a crucial factor in preparation and competition.”

Also at IPSC, Leatham secured wins as the National and High Senior champion in the Classic Division, a repeat of titles won at the 2014 IPSC World Shoot. “Part of why I can hold my own is my superior equipment,” said Leatham. “I have the absolute best of everything. Best guns, best ammo and the best holster equipment. So even though I may move slower than the kids, my drawing and reloading isn’t! My Safariland equipment always keeps me in the fight.”

Competing back-to-back at the IPSC and IDPA Nationals, Vogel was the victor in both as Standard Champion at ISPC and Stock Service Pistol Division Champion, and High Overall Champion at IDPA – his tenth year successively winning his division. At ISPC, he placed above 47 contenders with a perfect score. At IDPA, Vogel scored 202.5, ultimately defeating 337 competitors. With these wins, Vogel secured a spot on the U.S. National Team and will compete at the 2017 World Shoot in France next year.

“Two states in two days for two national championships tested my endurance,” shared Vogel. “It was an honor to win both matches in the same weekend.”

Koenig continued Team Safariland’s winning streak at the 2016 NRA World Shooting Championship/Open Professional Division. His first time competing at the two-year-old match, he placed first ahead of 200 contenders. The match consisted of 12 stages, representing all shooting disciplines, where Koenig triumphed with a perfect score of 3,000 points.
“This is one of the most demanding matches of my career,” said Koenig. “It was challenging to practice for all 12 events and I look forward to improving next year. I hold a great deal of respect for the other shooting disciplines represented in this Championship.”
Reese utilized her Safariland ELS system, 5197 holster, and 771 magazine pouch, all carried in her 4555 Shooter’s Range Bag. Golob competed using the same ELS belt system and mag pouch with her 5198 Holster. Leatham used his Safariland his ELS Competition Rig with a 5199 holster and 771 and 773 magazine pouches. Vogel competed with his 032 ELS Competition Belt, 773 magazine pouch, and 5198 Holster. Koenig used a 4555 Shooter’s Range Bag and Dual Rifle Bag.

MCL Wins Further Hearing Protection Order From UK MOD

Marlborough Communications Limited (MCL), a Cohort plc company working with INVISIO Communications A/S, has received a further order for its S10 Tactical Hearing Protection Systems from the UK Ministry of Defence.

The order, valued at more than £2 million, will provide hearing protection for RAF, Royal Navy and Reservist personnel and follows this month’s completion of the initial order supplying more than 19,000 systems to the British Army. MCL and INVISIO completed the programme five months ahead of schedule, with the contract including a full support package for the next four years, training, documentation, spares and project management.

Under the latest order, MCL and INVISIO will also provide a full support package for the next three years, with the option to extend for a further three years.

MCL Managing Director Darren Allery commented: “The THPS DCCU contract is a great success and we are delighted to receive this follow on order. Our size, agility and partnership with INVISIO and the MOD has enabled us to achieve the in service date ahead of schedule and complete deliveries to the Army well within the schedule.”

Commenting on the INVISIO S10, Major General Richard Talbot Rice, Director Land Equipment, said: “The INVISIO S10 hearing protection system will deliver a key capability for the Armed Forces, providing first rate situational awareness and better prevents hearing damage to personnel on operations whilst offering more comfort.”

The S10 Tactical Hearing Protection Systems for the Dismounted Close Combat User (THPS DCCU) are a significant step forward in the technology designed to protect the user’s hearing in training and combat situations.

It is an in-ear hearing protection and communication system for use on a single radio and consists of an in-ear hearing protection headset with control unit housing the electronics for situational awareness and impulse noise protection. It is made up of two components the X5 Bone Conduction Hearing Protection Headset and the inline control unit.

The system uses advanced digital signal processing, miniaturised audio components and ergonomic headset design to provide the most natural hearing possible. The vibrations are converted into sound, delivering crystal clear communication under extreme conditions, even when whispering.

Crimson Trace Founder and Industry Icon Announces Retirement

(Wilsonville, OR)— Nearly everyone who owns a firearm has heard of Crimson Trace®, the shooting sports industry leader in laser sight design and manufacturing. Many of those firearm owners have also heard of the man behind the iconic company and brand –Crimson Trace’s Founder Lew Danielson. After more than two decades as a leader in the company and the industry, Danielson has announced his retirement.

Danielson, a trained engineer, co-founded Crimson Trace in the backroom of an Oregon machine shop in 1994. That award noted that Danielson was “fundamentally responsible for the invention, development, marketing and/or promotion of products that gained widespread use and which fundamentally changed some aspect of shooting sports equipment or related products for the better.” Those words referenced Danielson’s establishment of America’s premium brand of laser sighting systems for firearms—Crimson Trace.

Manzano Joins Boston-based Government Relations Firm Following Seven Years on Capitol Hill

September 26, 2016 – Boston, MA – The Boston-based government relations firm ADS Ventures today announced Capitol Hill veteran Ian Manzano has joined its federal government relations team.

Ian comes to ADS Ventures as Associate Vice President, Federal Affairs, after working in the U.S. House of Representatives for over seven years. During his time in the House, Ian served as Legislative Director for former Iowa Congressman Tom Latham, R-IA 3, who sat on the powerful House Appropriations Committee and was Chairman of the Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development. Most recently, Ian worked for another House appropriator, Florida Congressman David Jolly, R-FL 13, as his Senior Policy Advisor, managing the Congressman’s appropriations portfolio. Ian’s issue portfolio has focused on appropriations, banking and financial services, healthcare, housing and community development, national security, tax and trade, and veterans affairs. He holds a degree in International Business from the George Washington University.

IEE Exhibiting Line of Ruggedized Displays at AUSA 2016

September 2016, Van Nuys, CA—IEE, manufacturer of enhanced displays for military applications, will be exhibiting at the AUSA Annual Meeting and Exposition, Oct 3-5th in Washington DC. IEE will be showcasing an array of ruggedized displays including hand-held devices, ground vehicle Control Display Units (CDUs), and avionics Multi Function Displays (MFDs).

One of the highlights will be a recently introduced 12.1-inch Smart-Touch CDU designed for Light-Armored Vehicles (LAV’s). This display features low latency video processing, expandable COTS open architecture, and Gigabit Ethernet networked processing. Colt Congratulates Team Colt Shooters Maggie Reese and Mark Redl on Strong Showing at IPSC Nationals
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (September 23, 2016) – Colt is pleased to congratulate Team Colt for another outstanding showing at the IPSC Nationals, September 17-18 in Frostproof, FL. Team Colt shooters Maggie Reese and Mark Redl both placed in this elite competition, with Reese taking a win.

“We couldn’t be more honored by this performance,” said Paul Spitale, VP at Colt. “Team Colt is on the front lines of competitive shooting, championing the excellence that we strive for every day here at the Colt factory.”

Maggie Reese placed first in the Ladies Class in Classic Division. “I shot my 9mm Colt Government Model which is perfect for this division,” said Reese. “Shooting a minor caliber (such as 9mm) requires more focus on accuracy because of the scoring structure; consistent shot-placement is critical.”

“I used my off-the-shelf Colt Competition Pistol in 9mm for this match,” said Mark Redl, Team Colt shooter and Product Manager at Colt. “This was the type of match I had in mind when we were in the design process for this pistol, and the performance I get from it is excellent.” Redl placed third in the Senior Class in Classic Division.

The competition was grueling. Florida heat beared down on competitors as they navigated the course of fire. Featuring paper and steel targets at distances over 20 yards as well as penalty and moving targets, shooters were kept on their toes. Agility was also tested through stages featuring awkward shooting positions and strong-hand / weak-hand shooting.
