Brownells Offers New, Exclusive AR-15 Front Sight From Battle Arms Development

Wednesday, September 14th, 2016

p_100019664_2

Grinnell, Iowa – Brownells proudly offers a new AR-15 front sight, the Battle Arms Development ARCHITEK™, #100-019-664. Available exclusively from Brownells, the sight retails for $89.99.

Designed for shooters who prefer using iron sights, the ARCHITEK™ simply clamps onto a standard AR-15 barrel between .735″ and .750″ in diameter, and extends the sight radius to the maximum length possible. It works on rifles without the traditional front sight tower gas block.

It also compensates for any variances in free-float handguard design or installation, or flexing due to firing or sling pressure that could cause imperfect sight alignment. Precision machined from billet aluminum, the ARCHITEK™ is strong but weighs only 1.3 oz. to help keep the rifle balanced and fast-handling.

“We are very pleased to offer our latest product, the ARCHITECK, exclusively through Brownells,” said George Huang, President/CEO of Battle Arms Development. “There is a long working history with Brownells since the early days of Battle Arms Development, and we are honored to be involved in this project.”

The front sight post is thinner than the typical A2-style post and won’t obstruct targets at long ranges. Modeled after the AK-47 front post, the ARCHITEK™ front post allows adjustments with a set of standard pliers, or an AK-47 front sight tool.

Merchandise Manager Paul Levy demonstrated the ARCHITEK™ in a video filmed at the Big Springs range complex.

Customers can order an ARCHITEK™ front sight from Brownells.com, or call 800-741-0015.

Norm Crawford Wins Wimbledon Cup with Composite-Technology Barrel

Wednesday, September 14th, 2016

Camp Perry, Ohio (September 20016) – With a score of 200-16X, U.S. Palma Champion, Norman Crawford won the 2016 Wimbledon Cup during the National Long Range Rifle Championships using a 32″ PROOF Research carbon-fiber composite barrel chambered in .284 Shehane. This prestigious cup, which dates back to 1875, is awarded annually to the winner of a 1,000-yard shooting competition consisting of 20 timed shots, fired from the prone position. Crawford’s win represents the first time in the cup’s 141-year history that it has been won with anything other than a steel barrel.

“I don’t know of anyone else in this sport using a carbon fiber barrel,” said Crawford, who’s been shooting PROOF composite barrels since 2013. “The benefits over a steel barrel are that you get a larger-diameter, stiffer, faster-cooling barrel that weighs less than a standard medium Palma-taper barrel, with no real downside I’ve been able to identify in three years of shooting them. All five PROOF barrels I own are capable of winning any match-providing I do my part.”

A 30-year Army vet and former Army Special Operations Sniper, Crawford has been shooting competitively since 1990. His list of shooting accomplishments is long, including winning the Camp Perry National Matches-considered the “World Series of the Shooting Sports”-in 2005 and earning runner-up in 2001 and 2003. A three-time member of the U.S. Rifle Team to the World Championships, Crawford also used a PROOF barrel to tie the national record for a 600-yard Any Gun, Any Sight competition in North Carolina last November, one of five national records he has set or tied over the course of his shooting career.

According to PROOF Research CEO Larry Murphy, “We are honored that Norm chose our barrel to go up against the best shooters in the world with. His success in Palma shooting has been unparalleled and we are proud to be a part of it-and by putting our barrels to the test in intense competition, he pushes us to do our best as well.”

Legal Manufacturing, LLC’s NIB BATTLEWORN MOD 1 Glock® 19 is now available. Legal Manufacturing, LLC has further modified the recently released NIB BATTLEWORN Glock® 19 to improve performance by increasing tactile feel and aesthetics of the firearm. The factory Glock® 19 slide is plated in NIB BATTLEWORN and the factory Glock® 19 barrel is plated in a matte variant of Legal Manufacturing, LLC’s proprietary NIB ONE®. The nickel boron plated surfaces reduce the operating friction of the firearm. Material is strategically removed from the slide and front serrations are added to achieve improved weight, balance and weapon manipulation. The NIB BATTLEWORN MOD 1 Glock® 19 is a performance firearm that does not sacrifice Glock® factory reliability. Features include the following:

NIB BATTLEWORN plated Glock® slide with factory markings; NIB ONE® (matte) plated Glock® barrel with factory markings; Forward serrations; and Weight reducing side and top slide cuts.

NIB BATTLEWORN is a patent?pending nickel boron plating process that offers wear resistance while simultaneously reducing friction to aluminum, steel, and titanium firearm surfaces. NIB BATTLEWORN is a dark shade of gray with an aesthetically distressed, modern “battle” finish. Legal Manufacturing LLC’s proprietary plating process creates a smooth and uniform surface and increases the hardness of the plated part to over 70 Rockwell hardness. NIB BATTLEWORN does not add significant dimension to the metal surface ensuring it can be applied on nearly all firearm components with no adverse impact on operation.

The SX-1 Modular Tactical Rifle from Ritter & Stark Debuts at AUSA 2016

    Friday, September 9th, 2016

Feistritz, Austria (September 8, 2016) – Ritter & Stark, an Austrian-based firearms design and manufacturing company, will be exhibiting their initial product launch of the SX-1 Modular Tactical Rifle (MTR) at the AUSA Annual Meeting and Exposition, held in Washington D.C., Oct. 3 – 5, 2016.

Ritter & Stark was formed in 2015 in an area of Austria well-known for introducing to the world some of the most innovative firearm systems ever produced. Bringing together highly skilled engineers, talented firearm designers, technologically advanced R&D and state-of-the-art manufacturing, Ritter & Stark developed a modular rifle platform designed to allow the user to customize it to be mission specific. The SX-1 Modular Tactical Rifle can be quickly and easily interchanged between a .308 Win., .300 Win Magnum and a .338 Lapua Magnum. The SX-1 allows operators to incorporate aftermarket magazines and drop-in upgrades with AR15/M16/M4 pistol grips and buttstocks that will fit the original Ritter & Stark folding buttstock mechanism.

Multiple features on the SX-1 MTR make this the ultimate precision rifle for serious shooters. The MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail is installed directly on the barrel, allowing barrel interchangeability with pre-set scopes for no shift of impact when changing calibers. Easily and quickly done in the field, the patented caliber conversion system allows the barrel to be precisely positioned in the machined aluminum receiver with a greater area of contact allowing for more stability. The bolt is locked directly into the barrel breech giving the SX-1 unprecedented accuracy, shot after shot.

The SX-1 MTR barrel is processed in a unique CNC-controlled electrochemical machine. The process greatly limits any mechanical stress or the transmission of thermal effects on the barrel while ensuring a uniform match-grade barrel in either fluted or bull-barrel configuration. Unlike other precision rifles, no matter the caliber, our barrels are guaranteed to at least 5,000 rounds for .308Win and .338LM, and 2,000 rounds for .300WM before noticing any degradation in accuracy. For the shooter, this means that every rifle we manufacture can achieve 0.5 MOA 3--round groups or better with factory match grade ammunition.

Customization is key for military, law enforcement and precision long-range shooters as environments constantly change. The SX-1 MTR’s adaptability to fit the operator, as well as the scenario, is demonstrated in its adjustable cheekpiece, recoil pad, left/right folding capability of the buttstock and its acceptance of different aftermarket magazines, triggers and pistol grips. The SX-1 MTR is also compatible with other manufacturers’ AR-10 magazines in the standard configuration.

The SX-1 MTR is the rifle of the future. It combines the newest manufacturing processes with the most technologically advanced materials and is designed by some of the world’s most highly skilled firearms engineers. Every SX-1 MTR is put through the most rigorous testing available before it’s allowed out the door.

Visit Ritter & Stark at the AUSA show and see the future of rifle systems available now at booth #3315.
