$2.2M Program Includes 5 Silent Arrow® GD-2000 Autonomous Cargo Delivery Aircraft Systems for Operational Evaluation and CONOPs Development

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 14, 2022 // — Silent Arrow today announced that the company’s GD-2000 UAS platform was selected for a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), Warfighter Lab Incentive Fund (WLIF) contract with a 12-month period of performance beginning in Q1 2022.

The $2.2M contract win resulted from the Pentagon-based Joint Staff (J7 Joint Force Development Directorate) partnering with U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM), Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) and one of its theater components, in order to fund a series of advanced operational demonstrations and Concept of Operations (CONOPs) development activities for Silent Arrow’s flagship product, the GD-2000.

The timing of the contract award aligns with the DoD’s need to supplement or replace tactical and operational overland logistics in future conflicts. As the battlefield becomes more accessible to all adversaries, Combatant Commands have identified the need to establish and sustain logistical operations in contested and denied operating environments.

Under the contract, Silent Arrow will deliver and support:

• Operational demonstrations for concept development (CONOPs, CONEMPs and TTPs) to include:

? Delivering two GD-2000s to Exercise Emerald Warrior at Hurlburt Field

? Delivering two GD-2000s to an undisclosed location for further demonstration

? Delivering one GD-2000 for non-flying purposes to include training and educating the joint special operations warfighter

• Radar signature assessment and management

• Android Tactical Assault Kit (ATAK) integration

• Water landing and resupply at sea logistics

• An operational and technical utility assessment to include integration of the GD-2000 with military aircraft platforms & force structures

• Transition plan based on the outcome of the operational demonstrations

At the conclusion of this effort, Silent Arrow will have completed all necessary safety and operational milestones required to become a DoD Program of Record, will be compatible with Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) systems, and fully integrated with the end user’s equipment and force structure.

Coupled with the recent contract awarded by the U.S. Air Force to procure an initial lot of fifteen scaled-down Silent Arrows, the company now has a full suite of UAS capabilities to provide a variety of tactical and operational level, on-demand autonomous logistics support for nearly every airborne Special Operations platform as well as in overseas operations. Additionally, the Special Operations warfighter will have tested these cargo delivery drones on special purpose aircraft, standard cargo aircraft, and helicopters, both overland and in maritime environments.

“We’d like to thank the Joint Chiefs and J7 for their confidence in awarding this seminal program,” said Chip Yates, Silent Arrow’s Founder and CEO. “We are looking forward to leaning in with our mission partners and delivering these disruptive capabilities to the warfighter to create a logistical advantage while reducing physical threats to those operating in harm’s way.”

SK Customs Announces The Lost States of America Engravers Series with The Lost State of Jacinto – Sam Houston Introduction

Thursday, February 24th, 2022

SK Customs® restores history by launching “The Lost States of America Engravers Series” production line with “The Lost State of Jacinto – Sam Houston” Colt 1911 pistols engraved in 24KT gold.

An important battle of the Texas Revolution, the Battle of San Jacinto took place in 1836 in present-day Harris County, Texas. General Sam Houston led the Texian Army against General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna’s Mexican Army in a critical victory. The battle lasted only eighteen minutes and changed the world.

In the end, the United States would gain not only Texas, but also New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona, California, Utah and parts of Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, and Wyoming. As a result of the Battle of San Jacinto, nearly a third of what is now the United States of America changed ownership. It is one of the most decisive and consequential battles in the history of the United States and indeed the Western world.

“We commemorate General Sam Houston and the Texian Army for avenging the Alamo and Goliad by launching this very exclusive limited edition of only 200 full size government model Colt 1911 pistols chambered in .45ACP,” said Simon Khiabani, owner and founder of SK Customs. “Each pistol includes a special engraved edition number and will be accompanied with a beautiful antique silver commemorative challenge coin.”

Details on each side of the gun include a beautiful custom scroll pattern which flows to the top of the slide. On the left side of the gun, SK Customs has engraved the iconic quote by General Sam Houston, “Texas has yet to learn submission to any oppression, come from what source it may.”

On the right side is the iconic quote used when the Texian Army charged into battle shouting, “Remember the Alamo, Remember Goliad!”

The top of the slide provides a portrait of General Sam Houston in front of the Monument of San Jacinto, while the rear of the slide is engraved with “The State of Texas” seal and “The Lost State of Jacinto.”

“The grips are made of Genuine Mesquite Burl native to Texas and to enrich the history of this production, both the grips and challenge coins were manufactured and sourced directly from our partners in the Lone Star State making this production even more special,” said Khiabani.

SCHUBERTH Launches New Ballistic Head Protection System B.Ko.S. at EnforceTac 2022

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2022

A modern combat helmet with a high level of user comfort and ballistic protection, that provides scalable levels of performance and modularity – this is the approach of the new B.Ko.S. concept (Ballistisches Kopfschutz System/ ballistic head protection system). An innovative rail design with open system architecture allows the integration of a multitude of devices, some even not yet fielded to enable a future-proof upgrading and capability expansion potential of the helmet. The design of the inner lining and retention system also requires a new approach. Including a wide range of sizes, coverage of a variety of head shapes and the use of a combined hearing protection/ communication solution. This is achieved without compromising soldier health and safety requirements while communication capabilities are guaranteed for a long time without interference.

Milad Youkhanna, Head of the Military and Law Enforcement Business Unit, describes the positioning of the B.Ko.S. concept as follows: “For decades, SCHUBERTH has been the reliable partner of the German Armed Forces for head protection solutions. The Swiss Armed Forces also rely on a ballistic helmet from our company to this day. In addition to a high-performance product, an efficient lifecycle management with extensive maintenance capacities are part of the sustainable offer of our company. The B.Ko.S. concept consistently pursues this philosophy and sets standards in terms of modularity, comfort and integration capability – without compromising protection.”

The B.Ko.S rail system with integrated SCHUBERTH universal clips is unique in the industry. It can be easily adapted to a large number of slots provided in all three rails and in the night vision shroud. Allowing the cable routing to be individually adapted in order to reliably supply power to systems to be procured in the future. It also significantly increases the options for helmet bungees or artificial camouflage elements. In the future, connections required by the user can thus be realized quickly and cost-effectively via the universal clip as part of the open system architecture. In addition to the side rails, the B.Ko.S concept has an additional rear rail. This can be utilized to accommodate battery packs to increase powersupply security, while at the same time ensuring an optimal balance of the helmet on the head.

The B.Ko.S. concept focuses on comfort as a significant contribution to broad user acceptance and satisfaction and the directly resulting protection. Finally, an above-average share of common parts across all sizes as well as optimized maintainability ensures low life cycle costs and reduced logistical effort.

According to CEO Dr. Christoph Klotzbach, helmets are always being reinvented at SCHUBERTH: “Innovation and technology as well as user feedback define our focus. This is appreciated just as much by the reigning Formula 1 world champion as by our motorbike customers. But know-how from the police, firefighting and work safety sectors also goes directly into each new helmet generation via valuable synergy effects. We have followed this holistic approach with the B.Ko.S. concept. As a result, we are very proud to present another high-tech product in the year of our centenary, which sets diverse impulses and significantly sets us apart from the market.

At the Enforcetac 2022 trade fair in Nuremberg (Stand 12 279), SCHUBERTH will be presenting the B.Ko.S. ballistic head protection system concept to the trade public for the first time from 1.3.2022 to 2.3.2022.

Mobility and Firepower: Rheinmetall Presents the Lynx 120 Mechanized Fire Support Vehicle

Monday, February 21st, 2022

Rheinmetall has just unveiled the latest addition to the company’s Lynx next-generation combat vehicle family. The Düsseldorf-based technology group has now developed a mechanized fire support variant of the Lynx KF41 IFV. Called the Lynx 120, this unique platform merges a tried-and-tested turret concept and the proven 120mm smoothbore cannon with the Lynx KF 41 chassis. The new mechanized fire support variant of the Lynx offers the user outstanding fire support and anti-tank capabilities.

Thanks to a well-balanced blend of lethality, protection, mobility and survivability, the Lynx 120 is the perfect additional battlefield asset for Lynx platform users. Featuring off-the-shelf components, meticulous engineering reduces the vehicle’s weight, while customizable protection packages round out the package. The vehicle architecture has been simplified and provides an open ‘plug-and-play’ capability for future upgrades, while complying with, and adapting to, NATO standards.

Because armed forces have to cope with future challenges such as high-tech combat systems at a time when conventional solutions and concepts have reached the limits of their performance, the Lynx 120 is designed to deliver maximum lethality and firepower on tracks paired with the latest defence technologies to keep adversaries at bay.

Utilizing the Lynx KF 41 modular chassis and a scalable large-calibre turret concept, the Lynx 120 is a high-performance solution, harbouring vast growth potential and an assured overmatch capability. Just a couple of weeks ago, Rheinmetall Defence Australia unveiled a combat support vehicle (CSV) variant of the Lynx: now there is the fire support version as well.

The basic idea behind the Lynx 120 design concept is to provide a combat system that offers maximum operational performance in combination with logistic advantages within a reasonable timeframe at a realistic cost.

The vehicle’s main armament is a Rheinmetall 120mm smoothbore gun, derived from the main armament of the Leopard 2. It can fire state-of-the-art DM11 programmable high-explosive (HE) projectiles. Its secondary armament includes a coaxial machine gun. Moreover, the commander’s independent weapon station will feature an additional .50 cal. machine gun.

A 360° camera system with automatic target detection and tracking reduces the crew’s workload in all operational scenarios.

Special protection modules enable a mission-specific response to ballistic threats, improvised explosive devices, explosively formed penetrators and artillery fire, and can be quickly mounted with limited tools. Moreover, the Lynx 120 can be readily equipped with the proven, already fielded Rheinmetall Active Defence System, or ADS, to defeat rocket-propelled grenades and antitank missiles. Additional armour packages and active protection systems can be provided on request.

Various nations are interested in acquiring the Lynx as a next-generation replacement for their aging inventories. The platform is currently a strong contender in Australian and Slovak IFV modernization plans and is competing for the USA’s Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle (OMFV) programme. Hungary became the launch customer in 2021. Going beyond strictly military aspects such as increased interoperability and capability upgrades, major localization elements form an integral part of these procurement plans, aimed at boosting local industry and creating jobs.
