Rocket DFS GTX First in Category to Utilize Vibram Traction Lug Outsole; Croda DFS GTX Offers Kevlar Protection and 50% Slimmer Vibram Outsole for Lightweight Precision

Montreal, CanadaAKU, a manufacturer of some the world’s most comfortable, hand-crafted hiking and trekking boots in Italy for more than 50 years, announces it will introduce the Croda DFS GTX and the Rocket DFS GTX, featuring its exclusive Dual Fit System (DFS) technology, as part of its Spring/Summer 2022 collection.  DFS is a double lacing system that allows the wearer to adjust the comfort and precision of the fit during different phases of use. The Croda is ideal for mountaineering in challenging climbing and trekking conditions on rock and ice, while the Rocket is a dynamic and reliable fast hiker for the most difficult trails.

The AKU Croda DFS GTX is built to be light, agile, precise and extremely comfortable.  Featuring a cut-resistant and lightweight Kevlar upper, along with an elastic spider frame structure, the moutaineering boot provides exceptional resistance to impact and abrasion along with excellent freedom of movement.  The Vibram Croda Litebase outsole is 30 percent lighter and 50 percent slimmer than typical mountaineering boot outsoles and offers stability, grip and precision even in the most technical situations.  The outsole also allows for the use of traditional or semi-automatic campons. An overlasted forefoot protects the midsole and increases precision, while an elastic cover prevents snow and debris from entering the upper.  Also available in women’s sizes designed specifically for the female plantar anatomy.

The Rocket DFS GTX light hiking shoe features an upper with a crossed rib structure protected by a 3D print layer and a dual density PU midsole.  AKU’s Rocket is the first outdoor shoe to offer Vibram’s Traction Lug outsole, incorporating a patented mold-making process that allows for 25 percent added traction on varied surfaces.  The revolutionary outsole design concept can also increase side lug surface area by 50 percent.

Both the Croda and the Rocket feature AKU’s exclusive DFS lacing technology and Elica Natural Stride System technology.  AKU’s DFS technology incorporates a traditional lace for maximum comfort while walking or hiking, as well as a secondary fast lace that can be activated by the wearer to increase sensitivity and precision during climbing. Through a unique insole board and tread design, the Elica system technology promotes biodynamic efficiency and optimal comfort.

Team SIG’s Daniel Horner Wins First-Ever CompX Marksmanship Cup in Multi-Discipline Competition at 2021 CompExpo

Friday, August 13th, 2021

NEWINGTON, N.H., (August 12, 2021) – SIG SAUER, Inc. congratulates Team SIG Professional Shooter Daniel Horner for his first-place finish in the inaugural CompX Marksmanship Invitational to become the first-ever winner of the CompX Marksmanship Cup.

The CompX Marksmanship Invitational challenged ten elite competitors in a head-to-head match-up in four shooting events over the course of three days at the 2021 CompExpo. The four events required to participate in this invite-only competition were the NRL Hunter Series Grand Slam, USSL Multi-Gun Championship, Total Archery Experience, and Shotgun Challenge. Team SIG Professional Shooter Daniel Horner was the overall winner of the combined event to take home the 2021 CompX Marksmanship Cup.

“For 2021 Daniel has been laser-focused on demonstrating the capabilities of the SIG SAUER CROSS bolt-action rifle, optics, and ammunition to hunters and precision shooters. The NRL Hunter Series has been the perfect showcase and fit for him as both a competitor and ambassador for the SIG SAUER product lines,” said Tom Taylor, Chief Marketing Officer, and Executive Vice President, Commercial Sales, SIG SAUER, Inc. “When Daniel gets involved, he goes all in, completely immerses himself, and raises the level of his competition by refusing to become comfortable and constantly testing his abilities. The CompX Marksmanship Invitational was not a challenge that Daniel was going to turn down despite having no competitive experience in archery and shotgun clays, which only made the opportunity more appealing to him and fueled his ambition. This win, and the subsequent title, is an exceptional achievement by Daniel Horner that truly demonstrates his ability as a professional shooter, formidable competitor regardless of discipline, and an overall tremendous athlete.”

For the USSL Multi-Gun Championship, a component of the CompX Marksmanship Invitation, Horner used his P320 XFIVE LEGION pistol with iron sights and SIG 147 grain Match Elite Competition Ammunition, and for the long-range portions of this match, Horner used his SIG SAUER M400 Competition rifle equipped with a SIG SAUER Electro-Optics TANGO6T riflescope and 223 REM SIG Elite Match Competition Ammunition. For the NRL Hunter Series competition, Horner competed in the Factory Class with a SIG SAUER CROSS Bolt-Action Rifle equipped with a SIG SAUER Electro-Optics TANGO6T 3-18x44mm and 6.5 Creedmoor Elite Hunter Ammunition. Throughout all portions of the competition, Horner used SIG SAUER Electro-Optics KILO3000BDX Rangefinding Binoculars.

“This was one of the most difficult competitions I have ever competed in, and it tested every aspect of my abilities from endurance to accuracy. The course and stages were outstanding and pushed me to perform at my very best both physically and mentally,” added Horner, “While I had to add two new disciplines for this competition I was able to fall back on the same training and mental strategies I use in my 3-Gun and NRL competition while relying on my SIG equipment to give me the edge I needed to be at the top of my game from start to finish. The CompX Marksmanship Invitational was an absolutely incredible experience, and I can’t wait to return next year to compete to defend my title.”

The CompX Marksmanship Invitational was held in conjunction with the 2021 CompExpo at Cameo Shooting & Education Center in Grand Junction, Colorado, August 6-8, 2021.

The “Fuchs” Success Story Goes On: Major Contract for Rheinmetall – International Partner Orders Material kits for Fuchs/Fox 2 Wheeled Armoured Vehicles Worth €250 Million

Thursday, August 12th, 2021

An international partner has placed a follow-up order with Rheinmetall to supply material kits for the Fuchs/Fox 2 wheeled armoured vehicle. This new order, which also encompasses an initial supply of spare parts, is worth around €250 million. Delivery will take place during the 2021-2023 timeframe, with production to be carried out in the partner’s country. This major order underscores the long-lasting nature of this successful strategic partnership.

The order is particularly important for the Group’s Kassel plant, birthplace of the tried-and-tested 6×6 vehicle. Last year marked the fortieth anniversary of the Fuchs armoured transport vehicle’s entry into service with the German Bundeswehr.

To date, some 1,600 Fuchs vehicles have been built. The armoured forces of numerous nations rely on various versions of the vehicle, which, among other things, can be configured as an armoured personnel carrier, a mobile command post, a field ambulance or for an NBC detection and reconnaissance role. The German Bundeswehr has fielded multiple versions of the Fuchs 1 ever since 1979, deploying over a hundred of these vehicles in Afghanistan and elsewhere. Its successor, the Fuchs 2, is an advanced version of the vehicle, featuring, among other things, a larger fighting compartment, a more powerful engine, an updated chassis, improved protection, and a digital electrical system.

Furthermore, the Bundeswehr is also modernizing part of its Fuchs 1 fleet. The latest version of the vehicle – the Fuchs 1A8 – offers substantially better protection against mines and improvised explosive devices compared to earlier models; it also features enhanced protection against ballistic threats. Among the principal modifications found in the 1A8 are structural changes to the hull; new seats and seat suspension systems in the fighting compartment decoupled from floor of the hull; reinforced wheel housings, doors, and window mountings; and additional external storage bins and reinforcement of the vehicle exterior. In total, the Bundeswehr inventory includes around 940 Fuchs vehicles, 272 of which are the current version 1A8.

Furthermore, Rheinmetall now offers an even more advanced version of the vehicle, the 1A8 Plus, which includes a new powerpack, a new transfer case, an improved steering system, and a monitor and camera vision system. This makes the Fuchs 1A8 even more manoeuvrable in off-road terrain and more ergonomic to operate. Legacy vehicles can be upgraded to 1A8 status, while newly built Fuchs 1A8 vehicles are available now as well.
