Act Now On Franklin Armory’s Title 1

Thursday, June 18th, 2020

Minden, NV, June 18, 2020 – Title 1TM Update: Take action NOW!

The Franklin Armory® Title 1TM was created for our friends in California who wish to have a full featured firearm option for legal and compliant use in the state as it is not a pistol, rifle, or a shotgun. More importantly, it is NOT an assault weapon!

You have until midnight, June 30th 2020, to get your deposit on the Franklin Armory® Title 1TM for only $5!

We are here to stand up and fight alongside you against this overreach of your second amendment rights in California!

Franklin Armory® has filed suit, among other things, to have the California DOJ do their job and process the transfers of Title 1. Franklin Armory®, along with the CRPA, have also been working together to facilitate the individuals’ ability to be represented as well…

Franklin Armory® has donated the initial $100,000 in financing for a Mass Action lawsuit in which each customer that has made a deposit can likely participate in a lawsuit against the California DOJ as a plaintiff seeking to prevent their continued administrative barriers.

I should point out that Franklin Armory® and CRPA are already suing the State for damages in state court. This case being announced today is a wholly separate action for you, the consumer. Besides donating the initial funding, Franklin Armory® will not be managing the mass action case… You will be contacted via email by Michell & Associates, P.C. for further instructions regarding the mass action case.

Franklin Armory® has repeatedly attempted to reach out to the California DOJ to resolve this issue, but the California DOJ has stalled and promoted a backdoor ban on the Title 1TM by expanding the definition of “assault weapon” and permitting only those Title 1TM firearms possessed before June 30th, 2020 to be registered – All the while avoiding their administrative duty to add the drop down menu to enable the legal transfer of these firearms in the DROS system…

It’s doesn’t take a genius to figure out that this inaction is likely deliberate and intentional… The Title 1TM may be lawfully sold in California, but is being blocked from sale due to actions taken solely by the California DOJ!

Now is the time to act…

Milrem Robotics Revealed Type-X RCV with John Cockerill CPWS II Turret

Thursday, June 18th, 2020

Tallinn, June 17, 2020 – Milrem Robotics and John Cockerill Defense today showcased the Type-X Robotic Combat Vehicle with the Cockerill Protected Weapons Station Gen. II (CPWS II) to select military forces from around the world.

The Type-X vehicle chassis is a revolutionary design for a mobile modular multi-mission vehicle that provides a platform for a family of unmanned armored vehicles. It is the first combat vehicle that is purposefully designed to be unmanned intended to be an integral part of mechanized units.

The Type-X is designed to deploy at a weight below the 12-ton mark for rapid deployment into the combat theater, either by parachute or by heavy lift helicopter.

A combination of augmented Artificial Intelligence (AI) and a remote system operator, the Type-X is a tracked vehicle with armor protection that can supplement troop formations or operate independently, in unmanned formations.

“The Type-X is modular and will accept larger turrets, but current turret designs are optimized for operations under armor,” Kuldar Väärsi, CEO of Milrem Robotics stated. “The CPWS II is a step in the right direction, as it is designed from the beginning to be a remotely controlled configuration (unmanned) and easy access from the outside of the turret, allowing for reload and maintenance,” Väärsi added.

Simon Haye, the Chief Marketing Officer for John Cockerill Defense adds: “One of the first realistic roles for unmanned fighting vehicles will be convoy defense and perimeter or base defense. The Type-X with the CPWS can be placed in the front and rear of a convoy to provide additional eyes and firepower for the convoy. Rarely does a convoy have available 25mm firepower and given the system is unmanned, tactics like rushing an ambush site, or maneuvering on the enemy’s position are now legitimate options for a convoy under fire. The lead / follow functions of unmanned vehicles is well developed technology and spreading some operator stations through the convoy can provide redundancy and quick response. Further FOB security can now be in the form of a mobile unmanned fighting vehicle. Instead of putting soldiers at risk on the wire, these Guardian Systems can provide relentless observation and the capability to maneuver and disperse an attack instead of just absorbing it.”

The CPWS II is a low profile, light weight turret, with a revolutionary hatch opening and can mount the M242 25mm X 137mm Bushmaster cannon or the 230LF, 30mm X 113mm cannon. The CPWS II is a remotely operated turret, designed to fit onto 4X4 and 6X6 vehicles. It is the revolutionary hatch, which can operate in three modes that makes the turret a desirable selection for unmanned vehicle operations.

The opening roof capability will allow a rapid reloading of the unmanned vehicle from the outside. Equipped with a 360-degree panoramic sight, with CCD, thermal and fused imaging, the CPWS represents a suitable partner to the Type-X Robotic Combat Vehicle. The turret can come with Anti-Tank Missiles such as Alcotan, MMP, Javelin or SPIKE.

“Eventually, combining self-driving unmanned logistics vehicles with the Type-X and you can reduce the personnel required for a convoy to a few operators, while actually increasing the capabilities of defending the convoy,” Kuldar Väärsi, CEO of Milrem Robotics said. “This is not just a leap forward in force protection but a force multiplier.”

During the demonstration Milrem Robotics unveiled their Intelligent Functions Kit (IFK), which converts any vehicle into a self-driving or remotely controlled one. Milrem Robotics’ IFK is a modular hardware and software kit providing ROS2 based environment for different functionalities, which can be provided by Milrem Robotics, the customer or a third party. The IFK has been developed for Milrem Robotics’ THeMIS UGV and Type-X but can be adapted to any other vehicle with drive-by-wire integration.

Both companies are excited about the future cooperation. “We are looking forward to developing a wide range of solutions with John Cockerill, as they have experience, not only in the medium caliber range but they are known for their expertise in the 90mm and 105mm cannons.” Väärsi stated.

Speer Introduces New Gold Dot Carry Gun Ammunition Designed for Compact Personal Defense Handguns

Thursday, June 18th, 2020

LEWISTON, Idaho – June 17, 2020 – Speer has taken its law-enforcement proven Gold Dot G2 hollow-point bullet and modified it to create a new product line called Gold Dot Carry Gun. This specialized ammunition is designed to provide superior feeding, ballistics and terminal performance through compact handguns. Speer’s new Carry Gun lineup includes 9mm 135-grain, .40 S&W 165-grain, and.45 Auto +P 200-grain loads. Shipments of this new product have begun to arrive at dealers.

“Most shooters believe that a defensive bullet—any defensive bullet—will perform well in typical self-defense situations. But a duty bullet that is designed and optimized for a full-sized duty handgun may not perform to the same standard when shot from a short-barreled carry or backup gun,” said Federal Handgun Ammunition Product Manager Chris Laack. “By taking the Gold Dot G2 bullet and customizing it to function in short-barreled defense pistols Speer has created a self-defense load truly optimized for the guns in which it will be carried.”

Gold Dot Carry Gun features the original G2’s exclusive bullet nose design. Instead of a large hollow-point cavity, it has a shallow dish filled with a high-performance elastomer. On impact, the material is forced into engineered internal fissures to start the expansion process. The result is extremely uniform expansion, better separation of the petals, and more consistent penetration across barrier types. Speer Gold Dot Carry Gun also utilizes the use of quality nickel-plated cases that feed dependably, advanced powders that perform consistently, and a sealed CCI primer that is sensitive and reliable.

Features:
• Gold Dot G2 bullet design optimized for compact carry pistols
• Shallow dish nose cavity filled with elastomer and structural-plated, pressure-formed core improve performance through barriers
• Extremely uniform expansion and penetration when fired through short barrels
• Exclusive Gold Dot construction virtually eliminates core/jacket separation
• Quality, reliable components and consistent accuracy and performance

The Catalyst Accelerator Unveils Next Cohort: Cyber for Space Applications

Wednesday, June 17th, 2020

Discovering Innovative Tech to Keep our Nation’s Cyber-Physical Systems Secure
Colorado Springs, Colo – June 11, 2020 – The Catalyst Accelerator (CA) announced its next cohort, Cyber for Space Applications, launching September 1, 2020.  The goal of the CA is to increase Space  Force [TS1] awareness and rapid acquisition of commercial, dual-use space technology by providing relevant business development training to Accelerator companies and connecting these entrepreneurs with users, decision makers, and potential new customers in the DoD and commercial realms. Eight companies will be chosen to participate in the program held at Catalyst Campus in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

“How might we apply cyber technologies to secure the next generation of space operations and increase resiliency?” the problem statement poses.  Cyber-physical systems are becoming more integral than ever before, introducing new sets of unique problems in both public and private sectors. It is vital that we come together to identify, understand and limit areas where threats could arise before they are exploited. The Cyber for Space Applications Accelerator, powered by the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Space Vehicles Directorate, will be a 12-week, semi-residential program. Participating companies will receive a $12K-grant through the Catalyst Accelerator’s Corporate Sponsor, Booz Allen Hamilton, with an additional $3K available at the end of the Accelerator program when all deliverables have been met.

At the end of the program, all participating companies will have the opportunity to pitch to government stakeholders, industry leaders and commercial investors during a demonstration day. This enables cohort companies to raise awareness of their capabilities in order to solicit additional capital or follow-on government funding for further technological development.

KiMar Gartman, the Catalyst Accelerator Program Director, states, “We are excited to assist the Air Force and Space Force in finding companies with unique cyber solutions that will secure the next generation of space operations and increase resiliency.  We look forward to collaborating with our dynamic space community to offer the very best program possible!”

Captain Keith Hudson, Government Lead for the Cyber for Space Applications cohort, stated, “As we face increasing cyber resiliency challenges in space, the upcoming Accelerator provides an opportunity for the USSF and AFRL to connect with small businesses to develop the necessary solutions to those challenges.”

Applications for the Cyber for Space Applications Accelerator will be closing August 3. The Catalyst Accelerator will be holding “Ask Me Anything” sessions on June 18 and July 23 to address inquiries related to the current CA Problem Statement along with other general program questions potential applicants may have.

For updates and other relevant announcements regarding the Cyber for Space Applications Accelerator, follow this cohort on social media with #CACSA. Interested applicants may learn more about the program and apply on the Catalyst Accelerator’s website, CatalystAccelerator.Space/Cyber-for-Space-Applications/.

New Research Creates Neutralizing Sponge for Dangerous Chemicals

Tuesday, June 16th, 2020

Dr Simon Holder, Reader in Organic Chemistry at the University of Kent (UK) and Dr Barry Blight, Associate Professor of Chemistry at the University of New Brunswick (Canada), have developed a new method for containing and deactivating neurotoxic chemicals like VX and sarin.

These weapons, known as nerve agents or neurotoxins, are highly potent and fast acting. Small doses can cause rapid paralysis and death, as the chemicals disrupt the connection between the body’s nerves and muscles.

These internationally banned liquids are aerosolised purposely to inflict damage on large geographical areas and are considered to be weapons of mass destruction (WMD’s).

In a project funded by the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) of the UK Ministry of Defence, the Kent team investigated new methods of bulk decontamination of chemical weapons.

The result of the research was the “Metal-organic framework (MOF)-containing polymer sponge”.

This is a sponge developed to swell and absorb dangerous neurotoxins and make them safer to handle, which also contains the MOF chemical catalyst, created to accelerate the chemical’s breakdown, diminishing the neurotoxins into safer components.

To research this safely, researchers used substances to simulate the presence of neurotoxins without risking exposure to dangerous chemicals. Following this, Dstl tested the prototype material with the real nerve agent to confirm the effect.

“Less than five kilograms of the MOF-containing polymer sponge can absorb, immobilize, and safely destroy a 55-gallon drum of these toxic chemicals. It is very exciting to consider the potential this has in combatting dangerous chemicals in the future,” said Dr. Holder, who is also director of research at Kent’s School of Physical Sciences.

The research paper has been published in ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces: pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.1021/acsami.9b18478

Outdoor Retailer Online is Happening July 21-23

Tuesday, June 16th, 2020

Let’s gather online this summer!
Mark your calendar! Outdoor Retailer Online is coming next month. From July 21-23, 2020, the outdoor community can connect, collaborate, and have the important conversations the show is known for. This summer it’s all online in an interactive environment.

DISCOVER

The show floor at Outdoor Retailer curates all that’s new and upcoming in the outdoor industry, and the Outdoor Retailer Online platform will promote the same joy of discovery that comes with walking the aisles. Exhibiting brands can showcase their product lines and news on their own customizable page. And retailers, buyers, designers, and media can search and discover what brands have available across all seasons – current inventory, upcoming for fall/winter, and new for spring/summer 2021.

LEARN

Like the in-person summer show, Outdoor Retailer Online will open with the Industry Breakfast hosted by the Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) on the morning of Tuesday, July 21. Three days of live education presented within the platform will follow in scheduled time slots from July 21-23, and all sessions will be available on-demand after they end. These conversations will cover topics important to our industry both now and moving forward, including diversity and sustainability, reopening and rebuilding, and strategy for business and industry growth.

CONNECT

While we’re all craving personal connection right now and miss the opportunity to come together as a community this summer, we are also mastering new online communication tools. Outdoor Retailer Online allows for exhibitors to host multiple live video conversations simultaneously within their page, and to book appointments or interviews within the platform. Scheduled events throughout the three days will also provide networking opportunities for all attendees to connect, reconnect, and have important conversations to support the growth of businesses and our industry.

Since the cancellation of Outdoor Retailer Summer Market due to COVID-19, it’s been our goal to provide a valuable space for our community to strengthen businesses, network, and stay united.

We appreciate your patience as we looked for a solution, not a reaction. We know from many conversations over the past weeks, and from reading through the surveys, we needed an online space that: supports your reimagined sales seasons; allows for the discovery of new brands, products ,and retailers; provides an outlet for marketing and media communication; and gives us all a way to stay connected. It needed to be a space where we can listen, learn, and grow together.

Capturing it all, and everything we gain from days at the show, in an online space is a challenge. There are a lot of layers to the shows. But we hope Outdoor Retailer Online will provide you tools and an efficient space to support your business.

We also plan to bring fun and inspiration – Outdoor Retailer and the outdoor industry wouldn’t be complete without it. The 10th annual Outdoor Retailer Inspiration Awards will be hosted on the platform on July 22 (nominations are open!), and keep an eye out for more events to be announced. Read more in the press release here.

If you’re a brand interested in exhibiting or sponsorships, contact your Account Executive today. For all attendees, we’ll have more information soon around registration, the exhibiting brand list, and education schedule.

While live programming will run for three days, the Outdoor Retailer Online platform and its tools will be accessible to registered exhibitors and attendees through the summer. Use when best works for you.

We’re excited to introduce this platform, and we want it to be a place for your business and our community to find tools for moving forward and thriving. Know that we’re always here to support you, and we look forward to working with you in the coming weeks as Outdoor Retailer Online comes to life.
