SIG SAUER Introduces Subsonic 300BLK Tipped Hunting Ammunition

Thursday, April 9th, 2020

NEWINGTON, N.H., (April 8, 2020) – SIG SAUER, Inc. is pleased to add a 205gr subsonic 300BLK load to its Tipped Hunting line of ammunition.

The new subsonic 300BLK ammunition features a yellow-tipped, 205gr lead-core bullet designed for explosive expansion and exceptional accuracy.  This load uses the same high-quality, single-base extruded powders as SIG Match Grade rounds, ensuring consistent muzzle velocity and insensitivity to temperature change.

Optimized for the AR-15 platform, the new subsonic 300BLK Tipped Hunting ammunition is engineered to allow hunters to load 30 rounds in a 30-round magazine and have the cartridges feed properly.  This was achieved by SIG SAUER engineers after extensive research and development resulting in a stepped-down bullet design with a shouldered ogive that keeps the bullet from hitting the ridges of the magazine which would cause the rounds to shift and eventually fail to feed.

This load is ideal for use with a suppressor, which greatly reduces sound signature and muzzle flash, making it a favorite among hunters.  Muzzle velocity is 1000 fps and muzzle energy is 455 ft-lbs from a 16-inch barrel.  This round is recommended for use in barrels 9-inches or longer.

“300BLK continues to be a popular caliber and, in addition to several Match Grade rounds, SIG SAUER now offers two hunting loads – the subsonic 205gr Tipped Hunting and 120gr supersonic Elite Copper Hunting ammunition,” said Brad Criner, Senior Director, Brand Management and Business Development, SIG SAUER Ammunition.

The new SIG SAUER 205gr subsonic 300BLK Tipped Hunting load is now available for purchase at the sigsauer.com/store.

All SIG SAUER Elite Ammunition is manufactured by SIG SAUER at its state-of-the-art ammunition manufacturing facility in Jacksonville, Arkansas to the same exacting standards as the company’s premium pistols and rifles.  For more information, visit sigsauer.com/ammunition.

Flying Cross Offers Largest In-Stock Inventory of Uniform Garments for Public Safety

Wednesday, April 8th, 2020

COVID-19 outbreak causes agencies across the nation to reconsider uniform needs Cincinnati, Ohio – Flying Cross, a leader in the design and manufacturer of public safety apparel and gear, announced today an overwhelming support from the law enforcement community to help identify uniform solutions that are readily available to service and ship during this recent Coronavirus outbreak. Many public safety uniform needs have changed as officers have had to shift roles to fill department requirements, as well as change personal hygiene and uniform care habits to protect themselves in the field.

“This is a critical time for all of our frontline first responders working in our communities during this Coronavirus outbreak,” said Tom Rose, GM of Public Safety, Fechheimer Brothers Company. “Their care and safety is, and has always been, our number one concern, in conjunction with their local dealers servicing their uniform needs. We are fortunate to have the industry’s largest in-stock inventory to be able to step up in a big way to help identify the products our customers need – and need right now.”

Flying Cross carries more than $38 million of product inventory and uniform solutions for law enforcement, fire and EMS, mass transportation, the U.S. postal, and many other adjacent industries. Because they stock many uniform programs both wide and deep, many agencies have reached out directly and through their distributors for help with current and immediate uniform needs.

“Many of the first responder roles are considered “essential” amidst state issued stay-at-home orders,” said Rose. “Roles that previously did not operate in the field on a daily basis now require daily duty uniforms to help fill gaps for the department. All of these roles have a greater risk of exposure on a day-to-day basis.”

Cleaning methods and frequency have also added to the need for uniform solutions. Many departments are choosing to purchase uniforms that provide the clean, crisp appearance expected by the community, but with easier maintenance and long term durability such as Cross FX and Cross FX Elite. Despite the uniform program, the vast exposure of COVID-19 to officers in the field has generated new habits. Possible exposures have led to officers changing their uniform garments more frequently throughout the day. Uniform garments that once were acceptable to clean once a week now may need to be cleaned daily to minimize the spread of any possible contamination on clothes. When it comes to possibly contaminated clothes, the CDC has recommended using gloves to handle the garments and washing them right away. Garments should be cleaned based on the uniform fabric.

With travel limited in many states, and many organizations choosing not to receive visitors, Flying Cross has converted its sales team and extended customer service to help field customer questions and inquiries.

To inquire about uniform needs for your agency or department call 1-800-543-1939, or visit flyingcross.com/ready-to-serve.

NDIA, SOCOM to host virtual SOFIC in May

ARLINGTON, VA –The National Defense Industrial Association and U.S. Special Operations Command will host a virtual Special Operations Forces Industry Conference (vSOFIC) online, May 11-15, they announce today.

After canceling this year’s annual SOFIC event in Tampa, Florida, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, NDIA and SOCOM developed a new online platform to enable special operations professionals and industry partners to learn, network and collaborate on the initiatives and capabilities needed in the future.

“We understand the importance of the collaboration among industry, the government and academia to solve those most difficult challenges our warfighters face,” said Hawk Carlisle, NDIA’s president and CEO. “We look forward to bringing together, virtually, special operations throughout the country for this significant event that continues our collaboration with SOCOM.”

The virtual conference will include remarks, presentations and Q&A sessions with SOCOM leaders and acquisition, science, technology and logistics professionals. This year’s conference theme is “Expanding the Competitive Space.”

“During this time, having an opportunity to explain our capability needs and give industry leaders a chance to tell us what they have to offer may be more important than ever,” said SOCOM Acquisition Executive Jim Smith. “We’re especially excited that an online format will not only meet the needs of our current, valued industry partners but may also attract new teammates from the digital and cyber tech base.”

SOCOM has opportunities for industry innovation in many areas, including next-generation intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, next-generation mobility, precision fires and effects, hyper-enabling the operator, and biotechnologies. Additionally, innovation opportunities in data and networks exist for emerging requirements in software, artificial intelligence, machine learning and data analytics in web-based information operations, mission command systems and more.

SOCOM also has opportunities to collaborate in a new Digital Engineering Lab unveiled in September 2019. The lab facilitates development, testing and employment of new technical approaches to modernizing warfighting decision-making.

For additional information on the virtual conference and registration instructions, visit www.vSOFIC.org. Registration is required for all vSOFIC participants.
