Lipsey’s Goes Back To Where It All Began With Retro P80 9mm Exclusive

Tuesday, September 1st, 2020

Baton Rouge, La.—Lipsey’s, the nation’s premier firearms distributor, has unveiled the new Lipsey’s Exclusive GLOCK P80. A historical reproduction of the original, innovative GLOCK pistol adopted by the Austrian Army in 1982.

In 1981, Gaston Glock assembled a team of engineers and designed his first firearm. The result was submitted to the Austrian Army pistol trials and won the contract in 1982. The Army then designated the first GLOCK as the Pistole 80. These guns were later known commercially as “G17s” and were only available in the US market for two years until the “Gen2” model was introduced in 1988. P80 marked GLOCKs were never imported into the United States.

After its American debut as the GLOCK 17 in 1986, the simple, yet proven, mechanics and materials have remained mainly the same. The original P80 and Gen1 G17 featured non-railed frames with no finger grooves and wrap around pebble grain texturing. Lipsey’s worked with GLOCK to recreate the Gen1 single pin frame and the original flat extractor. The P80 markings are the same font used in 1982. The classic “Tupperware” style container was also re-manufactured for this edition. Each GLOCK P80 includes a commemorative overbox and certificate of authenticity.

The new Lipsey’s Exclusive GLOCK P80 was developed to allow modern GLOCK enthusiasts to acquire a piece of the company’s unique history. The concept began with Jason Cloessner, Lipsey’s Vice President & Product Development Manager, who initiated the collaboration with GLOCK some three years ago. “I have always wanted to do a retro GLOCK pistol. GLOCK took painstaking measures to recreate the original frames and packaging to make this P80 edition as close to the original as we could get. Not only is this edition a great shooter, but it also helps tell the amazing story of how GLOCK came to be.”

Bob Radecki, GLOCK, Inc. National Sales Manager was an instrumental partner in bringing this throwback concept to life. “GLOCK, in conjunction with Lipsey’s, is very pleased to commemorate the adoption of the GLOCK P80 by the Austrian Army with a recreation inspired by the original GLOCK Pistole 80. The P80 was GLOCK’s first pistol and was the catalyst that led to the introduction of the G17, which revolutionized the pistol market and launched GLOCK as the pistol manufacturer trusted around the globe for over 30 years.”

Schiebel Camcopter S-100 and Nordic Unmanned Carry Out World’s First Full-Scale Offshore UAV Flight for Equinor

Monday, August 31st, 2020

Vienna, 28 August 2020 – Schiebel, together with partner Nordic Unmanned, successfully demonstrated to Norwegian energy company Equinor the cargo delivery capability of its Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) CAMCOPTER® S-100 to offshore platform Troll A. This is a world’s first in terms of full-scale offshore UAV delivery from shore to an active oil and gas installation.

The exercise simulated the scenario of an urgent requirement for specific essential spare parts at the gas production platform Troll A. The CAMCOPTER® S-100 successfully carried out the long-range delivery flight from Mongstad, where the spare parts were 3D-printed, to the offshore platform Troll A located in the North Sea. The unmanned delivery distance was 100 km (55 nm). After the UAV supplied the spare parts, it carried out a close inspection around the platform before it headed back to Mongstad.

The flight trials also included a successful Search and Rescue (SAR) mission, where a “man over board” dummy was quickly located by the UAV, transmitting the positioning data and live images using the L3 Harris Wescam real-time Electro-Optical/Infra-Red (EO/IR) camera and an Automatic Identification System (AIS).

Hans Georg Schiebel, Chairman of the Schiebel Group, said: “This was the perfect trial to show off the exceptional maritime capabilities of the S-100 for the oil and gas industry. We have extensive experience in long-range unmanned flights, especially in the maritime domain and under adverse weather conditions. The S-100 was able to show off its outstanding capabilities and we have proven once again that the S-100 UAV is the superior choice.”

Anarchy Outdoors Introduces Performance Upgrades For The Thompson Center Compass and Venture Rifles

Saturday, August 29th, 2020

North Logan, UT- Anarchy Outdoors, a leading industry innovator and supplier of precision rifle components and other high-performance firearms accessories, has introduced two major upgrades for the Thompson Center Compass and Venture rifles, a Thread Bolt Handle and a Picatinny Scope Base with Bubble Level.   Both the Compass and Venture are great rifles, available at a reasonable price with solid features.  Like many factory rifles there is always an opportunity to make improvements in ergonomics and performance.  These two new products from Anarchy Outdoors will make these rifles easier to shoot and more accurate at long range.

Part of maximizing the accuracy and functionality of any rifle system is properly fitting it to the shooter.  The Threaded Bolt Handle is more ergonomic than the factory handle.  It is swept back further and places the bolt knob is a position that makes it easier and faster to work the action.  The end of the Threaded Bolt Handle also has 5/16”-24TPI threads.  This enables a significant degree of improvement with any of the Anarchy Outdoors aftermarket bolt knobs with the same threads.   Precision machined from 17-4 stainless steel and now available in a satin or black nitride finish, the Threaded Bolt Handle for the TC Compass and Venture has an MSRP of $59.99.  More Info:  Venture Bolt Handle   Compass Bolt Handle

The Anarchy Outdoors Picatinny scope base for the T/C Compass and Venture features an integral bubble level that is machined into the back of the rail.  This lets the shooter quickly and easily see if their rifle is level before taking a shot.  Preventing cant in the rifle is critical to precision shooting at long range.  The base also features a forward slope in either 20MOA or 30MOA.  This maximizes the amount of useable elevation adjustment in a riflescope.  These new scope bases are precision machined from 7075-T6 aluminum and hardcoat anodized matted black and include the mounting hardware.  Available in for both long and short actions, the new Picatinny Scope Base with Bubble Level has an MSRP of $89.99.
