Samson Manufacturing to Supply Israeli Defense Forces with Flip-up, Backup Iron Sights

Wednesday, January 16th, 2019

KEENE, NH – Samson Manufacturing announced today that they have been chosen to supply the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) with their flip-up, backup iron sights (BUIS) for IDF M4 Carbines.

Working closely with the IDF, the Samson sights passed rigorous environmental and field testing prior to being assigned IDF Part Number 2888-88124. Significant quantities of this rugged and dependable sight have been in IDF field trials for almost a year.

These sights differ slightly from Samson’s standard offerings, featuring a slotted mounting screw and modified picatinny clamp. Also, per IDF specifications, the A2-style aperture is mounted such that the small aperture presents when the sight is deployed.

Samson COO Tim Mulverhill confirmed the announcement, “We are extremely pleased to have been chosen to support the IDF with our back-up sights. The IDF operational tempo and physical environment is notoriously hard on small arms equipment. The Israelis thoroughly test their field gear accordingly, and I am pleased to say that Samson sights have met the challenge.”

All work will be completed at Samson’s facility in Keene, New Hampshire. Samson will be adding this IDF version to their regular product offerings as IDF 2888-88124. Interested customers can review the IDF Sight and other Samson products at SHOT Show, booth 20327, in Las Vegas from January 22-25, 2019.

XS Sights Introduces Next Generation Big Dot Shotgun Beads for Home Defense

Wednesday, January 16th, 2019

Fort Worth, TX (January 14, 2019) – XS® Sights is pleased to introduce its newest Big Dot® Shotgun Beads for home defense in tritium and non-tritium models.  These next generation sights for shotguns incorporate the company’s leading-edge glow technology to make them the brightest sights in any lighting conditions.

XS Big Dot Tritium shotgun sights are available in two versions – on a pedestal mount for Remington shotguns or in a plain-barrel model that fits Mossberg shotguns.  Both are available in Optic Yellow™ or Optic Orange™.  The patent-pending glow dot on this front sight absorbs light and glows in low light levels before it is dark enough to see the tritium.  A true advantage for any home-defense shotgun.

The new non-tritium Ember™ Big Dot Shotgun Beads are also available in both Remington and plain barrel models in Optic Yellow or Optic Orange.  XS Sights’ proprietary glow technology gives the non-tritium Ember Big Dot a significant performance advantage over fiber optic sights or brass beads in low light conditions, and its large size helps with faster target acquisition.

“The size and brightness of our new XS Big Dot Shotgun Beads allow the user to index the muzzle much faster, and this is critical in high-stress home defense situations when every second counts,” said Zack Kinsley, Marketing Manager for XS Sights.  “We incorporated our proprietary glow technology into these Big Dot Shotgun Beads to transform them into the brightest sights in any lighting condition.”

Optic Yellow is the best option for low light and has the brightest glow intensity.  Optic Orange is the best for bright light settings and offers high glow intensity.

Retail Pricing:

Big Dot Tritium Remington Shotgun, Bead on Pedestal (Optic Yellow or Orange)              $66.00

Big Dot Tritium Shotgun, Bead on Plain Barrel (Optic Yellow or Orange)                            $66.00

Big Dot Ember Remington Shotgun, Bead on Pedestal (Optic Yellow or Orange)               $39.00

Big Dot Ember, Bead on Plain Barrel (Optic Yellow or Orange)                                           $39.00

The new XS Big Dot Shotgun Beads are backed by a 10-year, No-Questions-Asked Warranty.

New Slide Patterns from Grey Ghost Precision

Tuesday, January 15th, 2019

V3V4-slides-2

Wallace, ID – Grey Ghost Precision is excited to announce that they have added two additional slide patterns to their GGP-19 and GGP-17 aftermarket Glock slide product line.

The new additions are simply called the V3 and V4, and while they share the same precision engineering and tightened critical tolerances of their predecessors the V1 and V2… they are offering something new to the optics-loving crowd. The V3 and V4 slides feature a hybrid MRDS cut. Previously the V1 and V2 slides were only cut and tapped for mounting the Trijicon RMR. However the V3 and V4 slides now feature a modified optic footprint to accommodate the slightly larger Leupold DeltaPoint Pro. Still want to mount your trusty Trijicon RMR? As it turns out, the DPP and RMR share a similar front profile without the bolt patterns intersecting each other. The primary difference in the footprints are overall length, but GGP resolved this with an ingenious aluminum shim plate for use with the shorter RMR. The result is dual compatibility right out of the box, without the need for bulky adapter plates that raise the optic further above the bore axis. Note: GGP provides three pairs of screws for mounting either the Leupold DPP, Trijicon RMR, or the G10 RMR cover plate (for you iron sight purists). Using the factory-length screws that come with your optic of choice will not install correctly.

V3V4-slides-1

As if the optics feature wasn’t enough, the new patterns on the V3 and V4 are worth attention as well. At a quick glance, GGP’s V3 slide would seem to be standard angled serrations. However upon further inspection, the depth of the serrations taper inwards as the cut goes up the slide. This gives you a much more aggressive grip near the top of the slide for press checks and malfunction clearing drills, especially under sweaty, muddy, or bloody conditions. The top of the V3 has shallow cuts that also aid in press checks, while mimicking the design on top of the GGP Glock Barrels.

For the V4 slides, they’ve designed a studded micro-scale texture that provides an unmatched level of frictional grip in any direction of pull. Reminiscent of their V2 slide with “geoscales,” however this pattern is smaller and the little studs within each individual scale provide a much higher level of frictional grip in leu of traditional serrations. The V4 also has a top window cutout presumably for weight balance.

SureFire Celebrates 40th Anniversary

Tuesday, January 15th, 2019

SureFire, LLC is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year as the manufacturer of the world’s finest illumination tools, suppressors, and tactical accessories.

9874D8C8-23A3-4554-9734-367E80F8056D

Founded in 1979 as Laser Products Corporation, the company took tactical innovation into uncharted territory when it introduced the LPC Model 7, which incorporated a laser sight atop a Colt Trooper .357 Magnum, to become the world’s first commercially-available laser-aimed weapon. The LPC Model 7 created an entirely new market in the process, and Laser Products went on to develop other groundbreaking laser sights for a variety of weapons. As this technology became favored by military and law enforcement agencies, the company responded to their needs by developing weapon-mounted lights for handguns, followed by integrated WeaponLights for shotguns, submachineguns, and rifles. Those products fostered the development of the first compact high-intensity flashlight, the Model 6P, which created the premium tactical lighting market that SureFire has dominated for the past 30 years.

“We made our mark with laser sights and tactical illumination tools, but we didn’t stop there,” said SureFire president and founder, Dr. John Matthews. “Our basic mission has always been to produce products that help good guys who go into harm’s way, and we’ve never stopped innovating to give our customers the advantage they need and deserve.”

Now in its 40th year, SureFire remains the leader in extreme-duty illumination products and tactical tools, including innovative hands-free lighting, Ear Pro® brand hearing protection and communication devices, and battlefield-proven suppressor designs such as their SOCOM model, the official suppressor of the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force and U.S. Marine Special Operations since 2011, a contract that was renewed in 2017.

Through four decades of technical innovation, one thing has never changed at SureFire, and that’s Dr. Matthews’ unwavering commitment to produce the best by utilizing advanced technology, precision manufacturing, and the finest materials and components — every SureFire product is engineered for maximum performance, no expense spared.

“It costs what it costs to make things right — and to employ American workers to do it,” Matthews said. “That’s just the way it is: We build the best, without compromise.”

With a 40-year legacy behind it, SureFire has its sights set squarely on the future. New models to be announced at the 2019 SHOT Show in Las Vegas are just the tip of the iceberg.

“I’m proud of what the SureFire team has accomplished, but I’m even more excited that we’re already laying the groundwork for the future, developing innovations that will redefine several market segments in which we are involved, and a few new ones as well,” Matthews said. “But this has never been about us. It has always been about our customers and helping them win the fight. They’ve had our back, and we’ll continue to have theirs.”

UF PRO Releases ‘Pro’s Guide to Combat Medic Essential Skills’ Series—Shows How to Save Lives, Missions

Tuesday, January 15th, 2019

TRZIN, SLOVENIA (14 January 2019)—UF PRO®, maker of advanced-technology jackets, sweaters, shirts, pants, hats, caps, and accessories for military and law-enforcement units, today announced it plans to soon make available online at no cost a video series for aspiring combat medics to teach them the basics of treating casualties and preventing needless deaths during missions.

Called “The Pro’s Guide to Combat Medic Essentials Skills,” the video set consists of several installments hosted by a SF combat medic who currently actively serves in the forces and has kept troops patched up while participating over the years in everything from routine exercises to hot-zone engagements.

“The Pro’s Guide to Combat Medic Essential Skills” has been released on the 13th of January and lays out fundamental, proven techniques for quickly, efficiently, and effectively aiding the injured in the field when no medical doctor is available.

UF PRO® added that at the conclusion of each video, a short quiz is presented to viewers and said the company will give to quiz-takers who pass all three tests a complimentary, limited-edition UF PRO® Combat Medic patch that can be worn on their uniforms.

As explained by UF PRO®, the first video in “The Pro’s Guide to Combat Medic Essential Skills” series discusses care under fire. Field medics need to swiftly assess injuries and wounds, then choose the best way under the circumstances to treat them. This part of the series delves into the latest strategies for keeping unit personnel alive, comfortable, and safe.

The second video describes the M.A.R.C.H. algorithm. M.A.R.C.H. stands for massive hemorrhage, airway constriction, respiratory distress, circulation problems, and hypothermia. As the video reveals, each of those conditions is listed in descending order of injury seriousness and so provides a handy way to remember which ones must receive attention first when encountering multiple casualties all at once.

The final installment deals with the actual interventions medics need to make when casualties occur. For example, shown in detail are techniques to stop bleeding, splint a broken bone, clean a wound, and manage pain.

UF PRO® indicated that anyone interested in receiving notification that an official release date for the video series has been set can sign up for a UF PRO® email alert by visiting “The Pro’s Guide to Combat Medic Essential Skills” webpage.
